INC Protein: Dynamic Whey 2kg $73.49 (Expired), Plant Protein 2kg $52.49 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Chemist Warehouse

730

Not as cheap as it has been previously but still a lot cheaper than other brands.

I personally like the berry plant protein and I'm going to try out the cookies and cream whey.

**I managed to get free fast delivery (within 3 hrs)**. I think this is an offer they have for Valentine's over the weekend on purchases over $30. Just click on the fast delivery option at checkout and it should change to free delivery. I don't know if this offer is limited to certain locations.

Great deal. Whey to go OP !

  • +2

    Thanks just in time

There was chatter about the metals levels especially in the plant one. But I actually found the plant one surprisingly mixable and palatable…

    • +1

Edit: got the free 3 hour delivery too - great deal

    • +13

On one hand, there's excessive lead in it.

On the other hand, they mix well with water and taste ok!

      • +1

Gotta die of something I guess

        • +11

May as well die shredded 💪

      • Went through several tubs of the plant protein before I caught a comment about lead and other heavy metals. Then when you check the warning labels they advise pregnant woman and children not to consume these products. Started asking why would that be? Surely pregnant women could do with a bit of protein. They do not advise women not too eat chicken beef etc. so it had to be the contaminants right. Lead cause developmental issues in children.
Stopped plant protein immediately. And weary of any other product that states for preganant woman and and children to avoid consumption. Just my personal preference.

        • how on earth do plants get heavy metals into them

          • -1

@furyou: Plants absorb nutrients n shit from the ground, pollution gets into the ground, plants suck up the pollution.

Probably also from air pollution, but polluted soil more so.

          • +1

            @furyou:

ow on earth do plants get heavy metals into them

U know those studies where playing classical music may affect plant growth? Yeah the intern is a massive fan of metallica

        • +1

Logical thought process, but lacking research, so a bit of a leap and incorrect reason for the label (could still be a dodgy product tho).

Every protein supplement has this warning,

For example: https://www.aminoz.com.au/amino-z-whey-protein-isolate-wpi.h… , has the warning under their nutritional information tab, and they do have heavy metal testing data available.

https://www.bulknutrients.com.au/products/whey-protein-isola… , also has the warning under their nutritional panel tab, they also have some lab testing results but I'm not seeing anything about heavy metal levels.

          https://www.foodstandards.gov.au/consumer/nutrition/sportfoo…

Sports foods are specially formulated to help people achieve specific nutritional or sporting performance goals. … To help people make informed choices when it comes to sports foods, the label must: … state that they are 'Not suitable for children under 15 years of age or pregnant women: Should only be used under medical or dietetic supervision'.

        • +1

“Caught a comment” I guess the research is settled then. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

          • -1

@Kustard King: Yep. 100% knew the fwits would chime in. Hence the statement about my preference. You do you.

    • I'm yet to see a source on this.

      • +1

Article on heavy metals in protein powders by US based Consumer Reports. We need this kind of independent testing here in Australia.
        https://www.consumerreports.org/lead/protein-powders-and-sha…

Also high levels in chocolate, far exceeding dangerous toxic levels.

        • Good to see the testing, but it's also a Click Bait article, providing in my opinion disinformation.

      • +1

Adam Ragusea has a good video on the topic.

        • +4

Thanks, so he pretty much goes into that article chayawala posted - https://www.consumerreports.org/lead/protein-powders-and-sha…

That article seems pretty much a Click Bait, using ultra conservitive information to scare people.

          To summarise:

The scary protein powder lead numbers from Consumer Reports are based on California's ultra-conservative Prop 65 threshold — even the worst product tested had less than 1/10th of the level where actual health problems start.

A 2020 peer-reviewed toxicology study concluded no increased health risk for adults, and the amounts are tiny compared to the ~83 mcg of lead you already get daily from normal food and water.

Based of this info if you're having 1 - 2 serves a day I don't see an issue here, even in the worst case scenario.

    • Vanilla is the answer

    • -1

Good choice going the plant based. Whey and casein isn't good

  • +14

What do you call a Mexican who does not like protein powder?

    No Whey Jose!

  • +1

Weirdly the plant protein seems to digest better for me. Just the whey tastes far better.

  • +3

Really like the taste of this brand, i've only had the classic chocolate flavour but it's been better than other protein powder brands i've had in the past

    • Same. For me, the vanilla beats any other.

  • -1

Just checking whether there is benefit to whey powder over skim milk powder.

I did look into this when I was lifting up bits of metal and putting them down a lot more than I am currently, and thought I read somewhere that has a somewhat science backing (though maybe it was just WebMD or similar) that skim milk powder was just as effective.

The only thing I’ve been able to find from a quick search was: https://www.nih.no/english/research/news/2017/skimmed-milk-d…

    • +1

according to 4 AIs i tried, (claude, chatgpt, perplexity and gemini) all said the same thing. If protein grams is the same: whey still has a small edge for gym, especially post‑workout, because it’s higher in leucine and digests faster.

      • +4

Pretty much right from what i've researched in the past when the prices started rising.
The level of amino acids in whey protein + overall macros mean whey is more of a complete protein and beats milk powder.
You'd need to consume 3x the amount of skim milk powder to come close to the protein content of whey. At that stage, you're having almost 40g sugar in that.

        • Good point - not all proteins are the same. eg. 10g of protein from bread does not equal 10g of protein from steak.

        • +1

I think that study (though it was only a single study) discusses that and found that there was no increase in muscle mass associated with the difference. I did only skim (pun intended) read it though

          • @tolchok: Responded to wrong comment - sorry. Will have to check sugar content and equivalent amount. TBH - mostly adding it to morning coffees

      • It's better if it comes in a colourful tub ;).

  • Nice one, ditching Bulk Nutrients finally for this.

  • i tried this one but felt terrible on it - went back to pure unflavored wpi

    • Interesting how different people digest whey differently.
INC100 and AminoZ were the only two brands i didn't seem to have any issues digesting.
Musashi and True Protein were absolutely horrible for my digestion on the other hand.

      • +1

I’d say it would have more to do with whatever fillers/sweeteners are used in the flavoured powders.

        • Yeah erythritol and sugar alcohol based sweeteners upset my stomach and taste like crap to me even in small amounts (known side effect).

Why we get some people saying a protein bar is amazing vs disgusting beyond personal taste I think.

      • Was previously fine on the AminoZ years ago, but when they outsourced the protein from the US it no longer went down well.

    • Where to get unflavoured?

      • aminoz and bulk nutrients both do unflavoured

never tried INC Plant Protein, is it any good for post workout?
    cheapest was $44.9/2kg

    • +2

I like it, especially the berry flavour. The consistency is a bit more gritty than whey but you get used to it very quickly.

    • +1

This is subjective, but I don't like it - though it is tolerable.

    • +10

If you haven't seen Protein prices have gone up worldwide due to demand for synethic protein. Most food procuts nowadays are pivoting to advertising as 'High Protein' to appear healthy, and countries such as India have a marketing phenomenon occurring centering on Protein being good for health causing an incredible uptick in demand. A lot of the 'cheap' protein has been sucked up by these demand factors.

Therefore there is ATL high demand for synthetic protein and prices are high worldwide. It's not a brand problem, it's a cost input problem.

I wouldn't say this is a bad deal because prices have risen historically. In context to prices from other providers it's still a competitive deal.

Bulk Nutrients used to be $32/kg but is now at $52/kg for Protein Matrix+ for example. Price rises have been eye watering.

      • +1

Also, there's free delivery on this deal.

        Also, it was $20/kg in December (2 x 2kg for $80).

Musashi is the same price if not cheaper for 2kg. A year back there was always a $20-30 difference between INC and Musashi prices.

I know what I'm talking about here, I've worked at Chemist Warehouse and I've always noticed the price discrepancy between the two.

Funny that everyone just downvotes without any knowledge

        • Are the macros of the Musashi the same as they once were? And are we comparing normal or sale price?

        • -1

Do you have a link for Musashi 2kg delivered for cheaper?

      • Man I remember the old days, I used to buy BN WPI for $25/kg and back in 2008 it was even cheaper, WPC was below $20/kg from memory :(

EDIT: Holy crap, WPC was $89 for 5kg….

        • Wasn't that long ago we were getting Milk Tea flavoured WPC from MyProtein for $10 a kilo, anyone remember those deals?

  • Hi everyone! I’m someone who has previously used the cheaper protein powders (Musashi,Myprotein, muscle tech) but have recently discovered that they’re apparently not as good as WPC or WPI. Can anyone recommend if this INC or INC Wpi is a good alternative or should I go for Bulk nutrients , amino Z or true protein instead? I mix with milk and taste / macros is my biggest concern for what I buy

    • i understand that the gold standards is WPI for protein powders but blend is just as good - for half to 1/3 of the price - probably 1-2g less protein per server - I've converted to blend from WPI due to how much WPI costs these days… Get your protein sources from grass fed beef, chicken, wild caught salmon, pasteurised eggs etc and use this to supplement the remaining of your protein goals…2-2.5g per kg and you should be good.

taste is subjective - however i like to blend it with some blueberries and raspberries, add some greek yoghurt to it for a little bit of tartness and this makes an amazing protein shake.

i bought the coles mushashi deal a few weeks ago - 4 x 2kg tubs with delivery comes to $169 should last me a few more months…. this is a decent deal for todays price.

    • WPI is really for those who are competing or have gut intolerances as ultra high purity protein but comes at a high cost

WPC is the most basic, best value protein but is becoming expensive nowadays as it is still a form of high purity protein

If you just want a general protein to stay in shape, and aren't super picky about minimising as many carbs/fats as possible then a blend is more than fine. Just look at the overall calories and try and get that down as much as possible. You're talking about 25g a serve vs 30g a serve of Protein, so not massive if you're not fussed about min/maxing everything. If you're just mixing in a smoothie then a blend is more than fine.

  • i ordered at 2:01pm and it was delivered just then at 2:31pm

    • Mine just got delivered just under 2 hr 45 lol - cutting it close on the 3 hour promise but pretty good considering brisbane traffic all over the shop atm with the rains

  • Will give the plant protein a go from value perspective.

    • Good luck, I gave it a go one time and it was absolutely foul

      • How did you consume it?

      • Sounds promising. Challenge accepted.

      • dang, was hoping to cut dairy from diet

    • I have used a lot of plant protein powders and am not a fan of the INC chocolate. I'll give vanilla a shot.

    • I like all three of the variants but tend to stick to vanilla for its versatility

  • Thanks OP, been holding out. Three hour delivery was available.

  • Ordered the WPI for $97.99, including 3 hour develiry. Great Deal. THanks.

  • But i already have a heap of protein i had already bought. Oh well whats another 2kg, better to buy on special

    • It expires. Leave it for people who need it

  • I've been taking Optimum nutrition whey for the past 3 and had a bad acne breakouts. Looks like I have to go vegan protein. Long back I tired Aldi plant protein which I hated . Can someone recommend any plant based protein powders which is actually tasty. Don't mind if it has carbs. Thanks 🙏

    • +1

This INC plant protein is a lot more palatable than the Aldi one. We have to have it in the house because there's a dairy allergy and its not as good as whey options but for plant protein is doable for us to avoid allergic reactions.

Tastes better than most whey protein's, imo.

  • I buy the chocolate plant protein and it’s good but full of additives unfortunately. Does anyone know a clean but complete plant protein that isn’t super expensive?

    • +1

Check out this forum thread. You'll have to experiment with it to get the taste right, but at least you get to choose what you're consuming and at $20/kg it's worth a trial.

      • Thanks will have a look, at $10 for 500g its definitely not as cheap as INC but could be worth it given its free of extra crap.

  • +1

I use the Pea protein from Coles. $20/Kg.

Mix with some frozen raspberries and it's good.

    • just water and berries? my main problem with these powders is the flavour

      • No. I use faux milk (3:1 mix of water to cream). Toss in a small amount of artificial sweetener to off-set the tartness of the raspberries. Also add some chia seeds.

This mix, though, is not intended for gym workout regimes though. It's designed as a before-bed drink to help stave off hunger.

Apparently, plant protein is better at this that whey, and is considerably less expensive.

  • +2

This is gonna be the best price these days for dynamic mix of WPI/C.

At ~$37 per kg, this is great and INC is a great brand.

It mixes well even when manually shaking and taste good.

  • +1

Cheaper at Focal Nutrition - $35.60/kg for 2kg or $33.75 / kg for 4kg incl. shipping. . See here https://focalnutrition.com.au/product/whey-protein-concentra…

The INC 100% Whey mixes really easily. I found some of the Focal Nutrition WPC take more mixing (espresso and choc fudge) but the flavour is far superior to the INC and for me worth the extra effort.

    • +2

I had to buy a portable blender as I couldn't mix the focal nutrition whey with a shaker, the powder would clump very badly and was completely undrinkable.

      • Which flavour was that?

Cinnamon donuts mixes well for me. For espresso and choc fudge, I’ve found they mix fine so long as I add water to the shaker first. If I add the powder first it is a disaster.

        • The vanilla custard, I originally got it to add to overnight oats but it just clumps in the bowl. I have the banana still to try out, hoping it is a bit better.

  • +1

Cant seem to find on cwh website. What is the protein % per 100 gms for INC 100% Dynamic Whey?

  • I contacted INC in April last year regarding heavy metals etc in their choc plant protein and this was their response to me: “ Our protein powders are tested for heavy metal contamination regularly. There are no additional ingredients other than the ones listed in the ingredient list, but our Shred Max protein powder contains caffeine from the green tea extract.” I have been using it ever since due to the great price and palatable taste for me.

  • I was waiting for this to come on offer for so long I buckled a few days ago and bought some crap on offer at Coles which is nowhere near as nice 😭 I already tasted it so I can't return it 😭 buying, thanks!

  • I used to get INC Dynamic but then it stopped coming on offer, so I got 3 tubs of Musashi during the Black Friday offers combined with Chemist Warehouse and the Westpac offer - it's ok but I definitely prefer the INC.

A really like the Musashi High Protein choc bars but the whey not so much. Just a personal taste thing - but the discount overrides my taste buds.

Has something changed as INC used to come on offer at Chemist Warehouse pretty regularly but then just stopped and this is the best I've seen for a while but it's still not great from a discount perspective.

    Anyone got any insights?

  • +1

The prices are still valid, I just think the delivery portion of the deal is gone. The plant protein is still good value protein/$
