NordVPN: 100% Cashback for New NordVPN Customers @ TopCashback AU

1660

Awesome cashback on a popular VPN. Offer expires on Monday 16th Feb 11:30pm AEDT.

My Tips: (Credit to @TA)

  • Update: The Plus plan for 2 years seems to be a slightly better deal with the A$20 Amazon gift card offer at A$126.96 (estimate) with a tax-free country. Screenshot here. Credit to @Oh Daddy
Net cost was $1.25 for me.
Activate NordVPN Plus plan and claim the $20 Amazon gift card within 31 days of purchase.

  • The Basic plan for 2 years is A$110.16 (estimate).

  • 100% Cashback is for the Basic plan only (VPN service only, no add-ons). NordPass password manager, NordLocker cloud storage etc are ineligible for cashback.
  • Choose a country with NO GST e.g. Christmas Island. Screenshot here. GST is ineligible for cashback.
  • Use a new email address for NordVPN if you have purchased before. The same payment card and same TopCashback account are fine.
  • Pay with a card without international transaction fees. If using PayPal AU, there could be a currency conversion fee from PayPal AU. These fees are not eligible for cashback.
  • The tracked amount in your TopCashback account will be slightly lower than what you are charged. This is probably due to the currency conversion fees/taxes as NordVPN reports to TopCashback in USD which is converted to AUD. 100% cashback minus the fees/taxes.
  • If your order doesn't track, please cancel and request for a refund from NordVPN within 30 days under their 30-day money-back guarantee. Please do not submit a missing cashback claim.
  • If you cancel for non-tracking, you can buy again. Use a new email address for NordVPN with the same TopCashback account. Same payment card is fine.
  • You can cancel auto-renewal after you have received cashback.

For better tracking, use the TopCashback app, click the "Get 100% Cashback" pink button to the NordVPN website (not app), use mobile data (not Wi-Fi) and Chrome browser.

TA's Tracking Tips:

  • Prior to using TopCashback, disable/remove all 3rd party plugins (AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, Honey, etc), VPNs, avoid browsers such as Brave and close any additional browser tabs.
  • For iOS device: Apart from ensuring you’re not using an AdBlock app for Safari, the most important one is to ensure you have ‘Prevent Cross-Site Tracking’ turned off (see here).

What will stop me getting my cashback

  • Cashback is eligible in full on NordVPN's Basic Plan only. If you choose the Plus Plan or Complete Plan, only the VPN component of the plan will be eligible for cashback. Any additional products that come bundled with those plans will be ineligible for cashback (eg. NordPass, NordLocker, and others).
  • Cashback is eligible for new NordVPN customers only. Renewals are ineligible.
  • A new click/tap from TopCashback's 'Get cashback' button must be generated with each new order from NordVPN. Failure to do so will cause all cashback on subsequent orders to be declined by NordVPN.
  • Cashback is ineligible on payments made with Crypto currency.
  • NordVPN is excluded from all signup and referral bonus thresholds. Reference the Tell-a-Friend terms for more information.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of any gift cards, vouchers, or store credit for partial or full payment. Cashback is also ineligible on purchase of any gift cards.
  • Cashback is ineligible on purchases made via the retailer's mobile app.

What else is essential

  • NordVPN orders report to your account excluding GST and other taxes, and may show a further difference in purchase amount due to international conversion rates. This is beyond our control.
  • Engaging with plugins such as Honey, AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, VPNs, DNS AdGuard, and browsers such as Brave may prevent your order from tracking.
  • Accept and allow all 3rd party cookies on the retailer's page if requested.
  • Return to TopCashback to click the 'Get Cashback' button for each new transaction.
  • Transactions must be completed solely & wholly online and must not be assisted or negotiated via phone/chat/email. Failure to do so will cause tracking to fail and/or have cashback declined.

Great thanks, my Nord expired yesterday.

  • +1

Ha, mine expires in a few days and I was disappointed I missed the 98% cashback.

I've got PureVPN… but that's too much effort to configure.

    • +5

Don't be. If you really want 98% instead of this 100%, there's another one coming from 16th Feb on Shop back.

Hey guys, doing this for the first time. Few questions

    1. What does chose a country with no GST mean? Is this the country from which I am buying it from as per Nord's records?
    2. If yes, I am planning on using my ing debit card for the purchase to avoid international fees. Would the country I chose above make any difference?
    3. Will I get the enter amount I paid if going with the above 2 steps?
    • +4

@nokia3660 Hi, most of your questions are answered in the post description under "My Tips". Please read again.

      1. You won't be charged the 10% sales tax if you choose a country without GST. The default country is Australia which has 10% GST. Cashback is ineligible on GST. Please see the screenshot here. Choose a country without tax e.g. Christmas Island to get A$110.16.

      2. ING card has no international transaction fees. NordVPN seems to bill in USD so using ING would avoid the foreign transaction fees. You would still need to choose a tax-free country as the 10% GST above is a separate charge.

      3. A$110.16 (estimate) will be charged. Cashback is ineligible on fees, taxes etc
After cashback, net cost is about $6 if you use a card directly without international fees. It could cost more than $6 if you use other cards with foreign fees or PayPal.

      In the post description:

The tracked amount in your TopCashback account will be slightly lower than what you are charged. This is probably due to the currency conversion fees/taxes as NordVPN reports to TopCashback in USD which is converted to AUD. 100% cashback minus the fees/taxes.

      • Thanks for the clarification. I did read your post but wasn't aware that there was an option to choose the Tax country (to be frank I wasn't even aware that this was a thing :) )

  • +2

Be warned … No port forwarding.

    • +1

What would I need that for?

      • +1

open ports (torrents and other self-hosted services)

for some things you could use tailscale though

        • Is there any VPN posted on ozbargain includes the port forwarding? Or is it always a paid on?

          • @dsar: Proton has port forwarding available.
So does AirVPN but I have always found that to be slow in Aus.

            • @bohn: I thought proton also requires port forwarding addon (paid) no?

          • +1

@dsar: Private Internet Access, posted here with cashback, and port forwarding included. Working great for me.

            • @wizza13: Thanks will keep my eye out!

        • So does that mean I shouldn't download thousands of hours of linux iso torrents while using NordVPN?

          • @tenpercent: you definitely should
just don't expect the port to be open. this will reduce the amount of people you can connect to and lower the speeds ;)

          • @tenpercent: If you're a part of a private community that hosts those Linux iso's, you won't be able to download for long without port forwarding. Your ratio will be in the mud pretty quickly.

  • Can I get the 1 Month Basic Plan to use while in China?

    • +1

You can but I'm not sure if NordVPN will work in China.

    • All the mainstream VPN’s won’t work in China including NordVPN. Your best bet is to get a Hong Kong esim. That worked for me 2 years ago not sure it is still not restricted in China.

    • +2

Trip dot com esim or LetsVPN for China

      Nord doesn't work

      • 1+ for eSIMs from Trip.

They have consistently been the most reliable and flexible and cheapest for me. (I’m the type that create spreadsheets to compare prices)

Went to China early 2025 and got one from Trip and worked perfectly well for me.

    • In my personal opinion Astrill works best in China. Having said that I recommend Trip dot com esim 100GB/daily plan. Cost aroud $2-$3 per day but works well in China. (including working in tier3 tier4 cities).

    • Nord no good in China, even though they lie and market that it works.
Get a travel sim, which is much better than always chasing wifi anyway.

      • Most VPNs don't work in China. If they did, reviews were inconsistent. Someone commented that Windscribe VPN also didn't work in China.

    • According to the reviews I read ExpressVPN is the most reliable in China.
I used this + Trip.com eSIM last year and had no issues at all.

Purchased the plus version for $126, it comes with a $20 Amazon voucher. $105.52 tracked.

    • So does that mean the cashback for the basic plan part is still rewarded?
Below tip is a little bit confusing to me. I thought purchasing plus or complete plans will be completely ineligible for cashback.

Cashback is for the Basic plan only (VPN service only, no add-ons). NordPass password manager & NordLocker cloud storage are ineligible for cashback. Plus or Complete plans have these add-ons that are ineligible for cashback.

      • I referred to this and it worked,

Cashback is eligible in full on NordVPN's Basic Plan only. If you choose the Plus Plan or Complete Plan, only the VPN component of the plan will be eligible for cashback. Any additional products that come bundled with those plans will be ineligible for cashback (eg. NordPass, NordLocker, and others).

        • Thank you. May I ask how long did the tracking take? I only have a click history now in TopCashback.

      • I meant the add-ons are ineligible for cashback. You will still get cashback on the VPN service.

    • How long did tracking take?

      • Hi just an update. I got tracked the same amount 105.52, it took approximately 10 mins.

    • This actually seems like a better deal than the basic option, however which currency Amazon voucher did you get? Should have read this before getting the basic plan

Edit: cancelled basic and got the plus..cashback not tracked yet

    • I guess this is slightly better than the "100%" you'd get back if you're gonna buy on Amazon eventually?

    • Thanks. Updated post.

    • -2

      Profit?

      • It doesn't appear to be a profit.

      • +1

        Got this.

    • But how much of that price is the vpn itself, and how much are the other services? Even if it tracked at that price

  • Does anyone know what’s happening with Torguard? They used to update the desktop app every few weeks. It has been almost 2 years now since they last updated the app.

    • +1

Maybe the app doesn't need updating?

  • Has anyone ever tried deleting an account then signing up again with the same email?

  • +1

Charged 110.16 but tracked at 103.76 even after using card with no international txn fees and using Christmas Islands. Thought it would cost around $5 considering 100% cashback.

    • What card?

      • Macquarie CC

        • +2

Some cards don't have forex fees but charge it in with the exchange rate.

I have had a 28 degrees card for a long time, no fees but lately found that the rate is ~1% worse than wise. Not sure about macquarie, but I'd be checking what rate they are giving you.

For reference - Wise is 1 AUD = 0.7055 USD right now

          • +1

@biggweilo: But I am being charged the same amount as mentioned by OP. so would have expected same cashback. If there was other fees or different rates, I would have been charged higher. Shouldn't cashback tracked amount be same for all, however amount charged different based on different fees / rates unless I am missing something?

          • +1

@biggweilo: 28 Degrees uses the same Mastercard rate as Macquarie and CBA. I had all of them and tested them side by side.

        • +2

It seems to cost around $6 after 100% cashback. Also mentioned in other NordVPN posts.

          • @trixieb: Thanks, although have cancelled basic and bought plus considering the $20 amazon card makes it a better deal for me even if it tracks at same amount (hopefully it tracks though and get the refund amount in full)

            • +1

@Avalanche: I've updated the post description to include the Plus plan.

You will get the full refund but there could be a small discrepancy with the currency conversion fees.

The tracking amount can vary a little due to the currency fluctuations.

              • @trixieb: Cool, just that the new plus plan hasn't yet tracked..hopefully tracks

              • @trixieb: How long should I wait before I should raise a refund request for the plus plan. The previous basic tracked within few mins but this hasn't been tracked since almost 3hrs now.

                • @Avalanche: That's odd that it hasn't tracked yet. It usually would have tracked by now. You can wait a few more hours in case of a tracking delay. If still untracked, please request for a refund again unfortunately.

Just checking that you used a different email with the Plus plan. The dot or plus Gmail trick works as mentioned here.

Not sure how you ordered but I usually use the TopCashback app (to NordVPN website), mobile data and Chrome browser. Less risk of non-tracking with mobile data and Chrome.

                  • +1

@trixieb: Yeah followed all your instructions. Different email, mobile network, topcashback app and chrome browser. Did the same both time. First tracked immediately the second not yet. App recorded my visit but didn't track my cashback. Will raise a refund request again :(

Edit: Tracked again now on 3rd attempt at $105.71 :)

    • I got the same figures as this (Maquarie debit)

    • Same. The Nord subscription is actually charged in AUD and not USD. So there was no conversion fees.

      • Some non-fee free cards may still charge a currency conversion fee although it shows AUD. It's recommended to use a card without foreign fees.

NordVPN seems to report to TopCashback in USD which is then converted to AUD in our accounts. Hence the tracking amount is slightly less than what is charged probably due to the currency conversion fee that is ineligible for cashback.

  • +1

Thanks OP, finally switched from CyberGhost (ZenMate customer) where I had issue with my account.

  • +2

Signed up in March 2024, almost perfect timing, but received 3 months free trial as part of that deal, so it's good until June 2026.

Hopefully more deals coming in a couple of months.

    • Mine was expiring June too but I’ve done a new one don’t want to risk that

      • Probably a good idea, just looked up the subscription before that in 2022, that deal was also in March.

  • +1

Mine tracked within 15mins using the topcashback app

  • I had a nord account a few years ago which I requested for to be deleted when my subscription expired. Given that it's been deleted since (and presumed wiped from records), could I use the same email I used as before or would that likely violate the 'new customer' t&c?

  • +1

Awesome, thanks. Will set this up on my Unifi router and travel router. :)

  • Any idea roughly how long cashback takes ? Gonna set a reminder to cancel auto renew as soon as it clears otherwise I’m sure I’ll get a 2 year surprise !!

    • Estimated payable is up to 16 weeks.

You can see the "Estimated Payable" when you click "+" on the transaction in your Earnings page.

      • Champion thank you!

    • +1

Spent $110.16 for 2 year basic and received $103.76 cashback. Will be put to good use torrenting!

  • +2

    Thanks @trixieb

Bought 2 year plus plan, selecting Christmas Island for no GST.

    $126.96 charged to my CC
    $105.71 tracked (in 11 minutes)
    +$20 amazon gift card

$1.25 total cost when including the GC.

    • Just did this as well. Shame the only thing is the gift card there's a potential 50 days wait for it…Hope I don't forget ay.

      Claim you gift card

Click the button below or go directly to your Nord Account to claim your gift card within 31 days of your purchase.

      Use NordVPN

Keep your subscription active for 31 days.

      Get your gift card!

If you meet both of these conditions, you will receive your gift card 31-50 days after purchase.

  • Spent $139 on plus from Australia, on wifi, tracked with $105.52 cashback and $20 Amazon voucher, within minutes. Happy to have 2 years Nordvpn plus for under $15 with no messing

    • Next time choose a country without 10% GST or sales tax e.g. Christmas Island so you would pay 10% less $126.96 as per tips in the post.

  • It's the first time I have ever used a cashback service. It looks like its all gone through! I bought the Plus version and my cashback is $105.71. When do i actually get these funds back? On the TopCashback earnings page it says "estimated payable - 16 weeks". Does this mean it'll be 16 weeks before I can access these funds?

Also, I'd like to turn off AutoRenew so I don't get any nasty suprises in 24 months. Do i do it now or when i can access the cashback funds?

    • Received an answer to this above, thanks to @trixieb - estimated payable in 16 weeks, check in the app and click the plus sign

It says in the above post don’t turn auto when you off until the cashback is paid, I’m not sure if that’s really essential but I’d be following it to avoid any nasty surprises. Bit of a pain is now there is a date to remember for that plus the Amazon card but that’s the price of Ozbargain :)

    • @suronja Estimated payable is up to 16 weeks. It could be paid a bit earlier in about 3 months. On average, most retailers pay cashback in about 3 months.

With the auto-renewal, I wrote to turn off after cashback is paid as a precaution. There are comments of cashback being paid when they turned off the auto-renewal before cashback is paid. You can turn off now if you wish. I prefer to do after.

  • +1

Thanks Op, my subscription was expiring next month, fantastic timing. Got the plus and tracked within 15 mins. Total cost under $2 with $20 gc

  • Does new customer mean have not used in the last 12 months?

    • No. Use a new email, or the dot or plus Gmail trick.

  • Can anyone confirm if using + or . in email address work?

  • Looking at some of the comments it seems this isn't actually 100% cashback?

    • This has been explained several times in the post description, T&Cs, comments and other 100% VPN posts as to why.

The Plus plan (A$126.96) with the A$20 Amazon gift card will be the closest to 100% cashback as per OP.

      My Tips:

The tracked amount in your TopCashback account will be slightly lower than what you are charged. This is probably due to the currency conversion fees/taxes as NordVPN reports to TopCashback in USD which is converted to AUD. 100% cashback minus the fees/taxes.

      T&Cs:

NordVPN orders report to your account excluding GST and other taxes, and may show a further difference in purchase amount due to international conversion rates. This is beyond our control.

      From TA previously.

    • I got this.

  • +2

    Worked, thanks :)

    Plus plan:
    - $126.96 (Christmas islands)
+ $20 Amazon gift card in 51 days

    Cashback tracked after 20min: $105.71

  • Which country to use for tax free? I assume use Christmas Island as per screenshot. I thought they charge in US dollar probably better off use a card with no international fee?

I was thinking convert with Wise first in USD and pay for it that way if the rates are no good
