  • $6.50 for gruel at full price is insane.

    • 9 out of 10 orphans can't tell the difference.

      • "Please Sir, I want some more"

        "In this economy?"

  • 1.5kg bag of Woolies oats is $3.

    • Ain’t this it’s better than Woolies brand?

      • These ones put money into Nestle's coffers.

For instant oats blitz standard oats in a food processor for a few seconds.

    • People who buy Uncle Toby's oats just love paying for TV commercials.

Woolies and Coles oats are 100% Australian Oats, just like Uncle Toby's.

The argument that quick oats saves time, is a crazy luxury tax.

      • Woolies oats are a tad healthier at least. More fibre/protein and less saturated fat/sodium.

  • Instant oats or nuffin.

    • R u a honey as you say nuffin like honeys says lol

  • The quick oats are great. Creamy texture when compared to Cole’s/woolies cheap oats. Worth the premium imo having tried both

    • Totally. What proportion of oats to liquid are you using and how long in the mic?

  • Cheers, winter supply sorted!

  • What's the difference between quick and traditional oats? Are they different types of oats? Like rice?

    • one cooks significantly quicker then the other, the oat is cut up into smaller bits, still it's an Oat at the end of the day.. just a Quick Oat !

    • They are the same oat, just rolled and then cut up in to smaller bits.

    • Quick Oats are generally cut smaller so that when they are cooked it will produce a smoother, creamier texture. The Traditional Oats will cook into a thicker and more textured consistency. I personally eat to Traditional Oats as i prefer a fuller texture when mixing in honey and fruit. Traditional Oats are also a better option if you are using oats in other recipes such as a top layer when baking an apple pie.

  • Night and day between these and the Aldi oats. Worth the extra spend

  • Best value is Coles rolled oats/quick oats 1.8kg $3.50 —> $0.19/100g

    • Absolutely. Great for overnight oats. Far easier than cooking rolled or quick oats. More resistant starch too from what I’ve read.

      • I've eaten them for years. They are cheaper than Aldi. And all Australian oats.

For breakfast (and sometimes as a snack during the day) I eat my rolled oats straight out of the bag with ground flaxseed, wheat germ, black currants, walnuts and a frozen berry (strawberries at the moment) and soy milk.

  • I didn't finish my box from two years ago, but maybe if this fills you up without getting you fat I should try three more boxes and quit junk food and eat quick oats every day instead.

    • 6 years later… now you have 4 boxes remaining

  • I eat home brand oats for breakfast every day.
I find that microwaving whole oats in milk (1 part oats, 2 parts milk) until they almost boil over them letting them rest for 15 minutes produces the best results.

  • thanks will head to Woolies
