Lowest price I’ve seen for an Oracle Jet in as new condition.

These machines present as new, in original manufacture supplied boxes and with all new accessories.

Multiple colours available.

Black Truffle

Stainless Steel

For those who don’t care about a scuff or two, there are refurbished units in good condition for as low as $1,862.10.

Alternatively the Oracle Touch at $1,754.10 certified refurbished is also a great deal for a Dual Boiler.

I intend on buying the Jet purely because my routine is highly varied and would rather just turn it on and go when I want a coffee.

Happy dealing!

  • Warranty?

    • Comes with a 1 year warranty.

      • +3

For that sort of money, i'd hope it lasted more than a year!

      • Have you seen this in writing? I can't seem to find it.

  • +7

If you can wait a bit, I'd rather pay an extra $600 for brand new when it goes on sale again. Even the brand new Breville machines have many issues let alone a refurbished one. Plus brand new comes with 2 years warranty, the refurbished only comes with one year.
FWIW, trusted source tells me there will be a pretty good sale leading up to mother's day.

    • Also new ones during promo likely come with gift pack through redemption.

      • Haven't seen a gift pack on the oracle range in a while

    • Wicked wednesday is coming up at JB, for example the breville touch is down to $1k from $1500, wouldnt surpise me if the rest of them come down

    • 15% off at JB right now using perks voucher.

    • I get that, but $600 extra might just be out of budget for some. Plus, by that logic, it’s $600 for an extra year of warranty, would you pay $600 more than retail to have 3 year warranty?

  • Can I make matcha latte with just the steam wand?

    • probably? i use a kmart stirrer with a bit of hot water to airate my green tea then froth milk with my duel boiler, i suspect if you did the same thing in the pitcher it would work, might affect taste tho

      • +1

I’m using ceremonial grade matcha so I think I should be using an expensive frother just to be safe

    • You'd be much better off getting a bambino plus if you just want a good enough steam wand. You'll make much tastier espresso if you pair that with a DF54 or DF64, then getting this.

  • single boiler and that is why it turns on and ready quickly.

    • Oh wow i didn't realise. I thought the Oracle line would always be dual boiler. I always make my milk coffees by extracting the coffee and frothing the milk at the same time.

      • not this jet. jet has only one boiler. the Oracle® Dual Boiler is the top of the line now which has two boilers. And also old oracles (touch, original manual oracle) have two boilers. But jet has one boiler.

  • I posted 2 weeks ago the refurbs for Oracle were going as low as $1300 on ebay (same Breville store). Surprised it jumped, maybe better condition?

    • Those are the OG oracles, not the oracle jet

  • +2

The is actual italian machine pricing no?
Why would you buy this over a Rancilio?

    • Convenience, simple workflow, minimal bench space/need for additional accessories.

    • -1

Cheaper servicing when they inevitably break down 2 weeks after full warranty expires.

    • Or lelit.

    • For the casual market and convenience with auto-tamp/froth etc.

    • +1

I don't have to buy a separete high end grinder and the old Racillio were they dual boilers? (I think the new ones are).

The oracle do auto tamp and frothing which is generally OK. The frothing with non-dairy milk requires you to be hands on to get it right tho.

    • +4

it starts up and heats in 3 seconds flat

integrated burr grinder (breville acquired baratza)

insanely streamlined workflow, so u tap the grind and froth buttons and it will do both automatically
the oracle version will also tamp for you after the grind is done. (assuming inital calibration is done correctly, it will give a near perfect tamp relative to grind qty every time)

by the time the grind is done, the milk would already be done also. The temperature probe below the froth area tells the machine to automatically stop frothing when your desired temp hits so u can literally walk away after pressing 2 buttons and do something else like make breakfast. without worrying about burning milk or forgetting to start the next step of the workflow.

you can then immediately place the portafilter into the grouphead and queue up a shot, the single boiler is no biggie due to 3 second heatup, so even thoguh you will be busy purging the milk wand and wiping it, the moment the purging is done, it will pull a shot within 3 seconds immediately since its queued up, while youre focusing on wiping the wand

so the workflow is so seamless and stressfree and streamlined.
its basically a semi auto coffee machine. so simple my wife and 8 yr old daughter knows how to make coffee now

power on > 3 second heatup > queue up auto froth and grind and tamp > set grouphead and queue up shot > pulls shot while you clean the wand after it purges > wipe clean and done.

So your only inputs are pressing 3 buttons and cleaning the machine at your own pace.

A fully manual italian machine is arguably only superior if you install those mods that add an android tablet and module that give fine tune dynamic controll over pressure and temperature throughout the shot. Lance hendrick has done a video on this

The one downside to the jet series is that it is great for 1-2 coffees. If you are hosting a party with say 3+ guests, resetting the workflow does slow down the process since the milk jug can froth 2 cups at a time. But purging, cleaning, waiting for the shot to be pulled, prevents you from frothing the next jug for guests 3 and 4 onwards etc.

a workaround is simply to have a second jug of milk ready to go and a second portafilter queued up and grinding beans whilst the first set is in its final stretch (since the bottleneck is water not grind, u can grind a second shot whilst the first one is being pulled). These only cost $10-$15 off aliexpress for a portafilter + various fancy jugs (like the finger pinch ones without handles, or ones with built in temperature sensors)

this is where the OG dual boiler shines, but that machine is a drag for 1 to 2 quick coffees due to heat up time but amazing to pump out endless coffees for large groups

also somewhat relevant, the 58mm baskets on the italian or "pro" machines have been disproven as being superior in any way. if anything 54mm is subjectively better. Nobody can objectively explain why 58mm is used other than "its how its always been". So aside from the italian machines having objectively longer lasting internals and metal components over brevilles plastic shit that breaks down (mine lasted 8 years before needing a simple solenoid swap) for the average consume these prosumer machines are huge QOL improvement

i upgraded from a barista express to the touch impress bes881 which is basically the jet with a slower touch interface and no auto tamp. but the auto milk, thermojet and queing up workflow is the same and the main selling points that are the "must have". I think the auto tamp is a bit of a gimmick, because the manual lever system already achieves the same thing

but i paid over $2k for mine so this is a no brainer for less money

      edit

looking further this appears to be the 58mm version oracle jet which is even more insane for the price. no brainer

even if the machine breaks down after the 1 year warranty (i reccomened getting extended) a repair would be a few hundred bucks at worst and cost less than paying full retail given how heavily its discounted

My guy, how many cups of coffee have you had today?

        • +1

i was drinking my first cup whilst typing this lol

      • +1

Insane write up! Kudos and cheers. I am just enjoying a shot from my OG Dual boila.

      • -1

        One correction

this oracle jet version actually has 2 thermojet coils so theres zero lag between steps so the workflow issues are eliminated.

        i might actually upgrade lol

  • +1

Didn't know they make a ThermoJet version of the Oracle now, it's such a niche.

There's no competition, the only machine with:

    • 58mm group head
    • Integrated grinder
    • Instant on thermal jet

Because there's no competition, they don't have to make this a duo. But then if they do the price would be too close to the boiler version.

    • -1

      (edit) i am mistaken nvm

    • based on my research the oracle jet apparently has 2 thermojet coils. replacing the dual boilers. so u get benefits of simultaneous workflow

which less interior space, which i imagine they used to add a grinder

  • When my oracle touch died I pulled the trigger on this. By far the best one I’ve used.

Quick boot up. Noticeably better grind and extraction.

Cons are no dual boiler (which in all honesty doesn’t really phase me).

On a side note. The barista guidance doesn’t seem to work for single cup. Anyone else notice that?

    • I have the OG Oracle which has been going since Jun 2018 ($1686), replaced the O-rings last year, and it's still going- but I'd like a new one. I mainly drink Americanos and the Jet has bad reviews about it being splashy and making a mess- the fix to manually fill the cup with water then pull the shot- unsatisfactory solution! Do you have any thoughts on the mess from Americanos?

      • None of which you describe resonates with me. Overall it’s a ripper

  • +1

EBay does 17-22% coupons for refurbished. I would wait for that.
Or when Breville does a sale on it along with a discount coupon.
Also note I bought a barista pro some years ago refurb and it’s amazing. Recommend refurb over brand new any day.
Upgrading purely for the grinder, and I need to hand down my barista pro.

    • When is the last time you saw one of those? I believe they’re still capped at $300, so anything above 13% is wasted anyway.

Then you also run the risk the colour you want or model is not in stock during the promotion.

      • Not that long ago actually.
True ozbargainers don’t care about color for price :P.
I personally will be waiting for it but this isn’t a bad price by any means,

      • +2

Just grabbed it now for 1769$

  • Meh looks like they still can't do dual jet with this price range.

    • i thought this model was the BES985SST which has dual thermojet?

      or am i mistaken

      its basically endgame

      • Says you can queue it so doesn't sound like.

Good to know there's a duel thermojet model.
