The new "2 free nights" is misleading to say the least.

"Each free night requires a minimum two-night stay—one night paid, one night free. You can’t use a free night for a single-night booking"

The misleading part comes from how they advertise it to make it look like you simply get 2 free nights. I renewed my membership under the false guise that I would get that. It also doesn't help that I renewed it before the changes were put in effect. I will definitely be escalating this with the ACCC if need be.

    Not my first rodeo.

Two “buy-one-get-one-free” stays at more than 1,300 participating hotels and 25+ hotel brands

      That's pretty clear to me.

      • -4

No dramas. Chargeback it is :)

      • +2

Not all hotels follow the BOGOF rule.
I tried to use my Stay Plus at a specific property, but I couldn't find a single available date for a 'one-night free' booking for the entire year. After looking into it, I found out that the hotel had secretly switched to a Buy Two Get One Free minimum back in October. There was absolutely no mention of this on the Accor website.
I’m currently in the process of a chargeback with my bank for misleading and deceptive advertising.

        • Yea almost forgot to mention how there's suddenly super limited availability for most of the hotels I want when signing up to this.

    • +4

I tried to book a week in Bali. when I clicked the free night option the price increased by $90.

    • For some hotel brands its a 3 night booking, pay 2 get one free. Its all spelled out in the T&C

  • +2

I don’t get the value proposition here? Need to have two trips to get the two nights to put you slightly ahead of the membership cost?

Anyone know if there are any other substantial benefits which would make this worth it?

    • +2

Red hot rooms can be cracking value

      • -1

Absolutely. I’ve picked up Saturday nights in Melbourne for two adults and three pre-teens at the Ibis, buffet breakfast included, for $139. You couldn’t even get a youth hostel for that price.

Last month I stayed with my son at the World Square Ibis in Sydney, three nights with breakfast (including one free night), for $180. They even let us check in at 7AM.

        • +1

Wow I’ve never heard them let anyone check-in that early. You must be higher tier.

    • +1

You can use the 2 free nights with a 4 night stay. These can be easily worth $400+/night which is immediately your annual spend back and more.

I hit platinum status last year and that gives me and my partner free breakfast in Asia/AU/NZ which works out around $50/day. This adds up a lot over the year.

The food/drink discounts at the hotels are decent as well (although not as good as they used to be, but still decent value).

You also get instant Gold status with the membership which gives you higher discount and a much higher chance of receiving free room upgrades.

Obviously the more you travel the more membership saves you, but even if you just do a single 4 night stay to claim your 2 free nights, you'll be ahead.

      • I was under the impression you couldn't use both offers in one booking?

        • +1

Same here. The old free night was a lot easier to claim.

        • +1

I'm just booking things now for several upcoming trips, and yes it does look like you can't do both free nights in the same booking. Bit of a pain in the arse, but if you plan to stay for 4 nights, you could just do 2x 2 night bookings, but there's a chance you may end up needing to relocate room mid-way through your stay.

I was just looking at Sofitel Sentosa Singapore and the saving for a single night is $475, so even just using one free night it's already saved me more than the annual membership fee.

          • @nathanos: Thanks for the info! Did you find a date that suited? People say that bit is hard so I wonder how far ahead you have to look!

            • +1

@jfiend: Yup, no issues with the dates I was searching for. My friend and I both have our own memberships and we both were able to find multiple options to use our 2 free nights. The dates we've been looking at are peak summer school holiday periods in Asia (early June), and no issues finding BOGOF nights. Also managed to grab a Red Hot Rooms deal which was premium room + high floor and a really good price for Singapore (saved at least $300 on that over 4 nights).

        • Correct, officially back to back stay plus not allowed

          • @markis10: what do you mean? if i am staying for 4 nights then i can do 2x 2 night booking. is that correct?

  • Giving this a negative because they changed T&Cs last time after purchase from 1 free night to B1G1F and refused to refund, partial refund or honour the terms that I purchased (12 months membership and I'd get a free hotel night during those 12 months)

    • -1

You heading to ACCC / getting a chargeback too?

    • What story. I hate companies who do this. False advertisement advertisement and bait and switch.

  • +4

Be aware people that the "free" night has restricted availability. It is only available at some hotels some of the time.

    • -6

Isn’t that obvious? I mean you’re not expecting the free night to be available on New Years eve are you?

  • +4

    Meh deal

  • +2

I lost interest and cancelled after 10 years when they dropped 2 person dining discount to 30%

  • +2

If you buy this from say their Phillippines site will they honor the membership?

  • Looks like there is an extra 10k Qantas points to sweeten the deal too. But I'm already a member 🤣

    • "Looks like there is an extra 10k Qantas points to sweeten the deal too. "

      Where did you see this?

      • +1

It's just for Qantas Business Rewards members.

        • Anyone having issues with the portal? After putting down my email and ABn, it throws up “an unexpected error occurred”

        • Has anyone successfully renewed their Accor+ via this Qantas Business Rewards offer?
The conditions say "New ALL Accor+ Explorer members only"

    • Also interested!

    • +1

Do you think we can stack that with topcashback/ shopback?

      • Also interested to know if cashback works with the Qantas deal.

  • Could someone please check red hot room rate and type for Mercure Kyoto Station for 2 adults and 2 children 13 - 16 May? I can see the stay 3 nights, get 1 free but wasn't sure if it applies to only 1 room type before I sign up. TIA!

    • +1

No red hot deal on those days.

App booking asks for ages of each child.

Room types available on those days are…
Privilege room with 2 single beds (sleeps 4 apparently) $846 non refundable/$891 refundable,
Privilege room with 2 single beds and a sofa bed (says sleeps 5) $872 non refundable/$938 refundable,
Other rooms available have family deals but max 3 people.

You have to be careful checking bed sizes for japan hotel rooms, often whats described as a double is the equivalent of a king single.

In this case the two single beds that can accommodate 4 people are 100cm wide and 200cm long. So the only way thats doable is one adult and a small child per bed.
The other room with the sofa bed would work better

      • Thanks so much for checking, appreciate it!

      • @Meho2026 sorry, it's not a red hot room but another accor+ offer. https://www.accorplus.com/offers/book-3-nights-get-1-night-f… is this available for my dates? Contacted the hotel and they said just book for 2 adults and email them regarding children later as they are free of charge. Been on the phone with accor+ for an hour to check my dates with the offer and they keep telling me I can use one of the stay plus nights if I sign up, they don't seem to understand what I am asking. Transferred 3 times, time to hang up.

        • +1

I think the offer in the link is just the regular stay plus benefit

Prices on the app are displaying cheaper than the full website.

The stay plus benefit which is the free night if you stay 2 (sometimes 3 depending on the hotel brand), is only available to paid ($349/year) explorer+ members is available for those dates but only for the Privelage room with 2 single beds and bath tub (sleeps 4).
I'd be checking out how you are supposed to sleep 4 in 2 single beds.
Its $647 free cancellation or $726 with breakfast and free cancellation.
if your tempted by the breakfast offers, it might be worth reading the t&c, some hotels will only cover breakfast for 2 adults per room. Western style breakfasts in Japanese hotels generally get bad reviews.

There is a family offer, not sure if available to everyone, where you get 50% off a second room. Thats $1190 for 2 king bed superior rooms and free cancellation.

Does topcashback still give you cashback if you buy from a different country?

  • I still don't see the bonus points. Is anyone else seeing them ?

  • Yeah, I also see no mention of the points. Does OP have more info?

  • Could someone please check if there is buy 1 get 1 for the Sofitel Adelaide for 2 adults 21 - 23rd March? What the price is? Thanks

  • Regarding cash back on thia subscription i see topcashback UK has 6.8%

Topcashback Australia has 10% on an "Online Membership Subscription". Would this include Explorer?

  • +1

bit the bullet. tried top cashback but it didn't work of course. i've really bet big on accor this year - hope it pays off!

  • So Topcashback never works for Accor membership?
