Upvoted. The simple reality - which for some reason a lot of women find hard to accept when arguing over “equal rights” etc etc (hence the negs you’ve received) - is that
      1. most women’s versions of classically men’s sports are shunned by spectators; and
      2. ticket prices, advertising rates, and pay rates all reflect that.

Neg away, ladies, I’m off to argue for equal pay for men on Onlyfans

Tennis is a classically men's sport, until women fought for more respect and pay in the 70s. They got it, and now women's tennis attracts the same level of viewership as men's (even though women's tennis gets a lot less media coverage)

WPL cricket has become huge in no time at all, whereas a few years ago Indian women's cricketers struggled to even get paid. They're now a massive revenue generator in just a couple of seasons.

          “massive revenue generator” eh

ChatGPT says “The IPL’s revenue is an order of magnitude larger than that of the WPL right now — the men’s league earns roughly 10–15× more per year in direct revenue than the women’s league’s current reporting.”

Tell me again how women’s sport is in equal demand? While you’re at it, if you can also explain why in Grand Slams women get the same prize money for playing max three sets vs men’s five sets, I’d be obliged. Because, you know, to me, that seems the very opposite of equal pay for equal work?

            @dwarves:

“The IPL’s revenue is an order of magnitude larger than that of the WPL right now — the men’s league earns roughly 10–15× more per year in direct revenue than the women’s league’s current reporting.”

Do you need ChatGPT to explain to you that getting to a tenth of the size of one of the biggest sporting leagues in the world in just 2 seasons is an incredible achievement?

Amazon has 15-20x the revenue of Coles, would you say Coles isn't a massive revenue generator?

Tell me again how women’s sport is in equal demand?

Did you not read my tennis example? Here it is again, Tennis is a classically men's sport that was able to grow quickly due to giving women players equal pay and stature.

While you’re at it, if you can also explain why in Grand Slams women get the same prize money for playing max three sets vs men’s five sets, I’d be obliged. Because, you know, to me, that seems the very opposite of equal pay for equal work?

I can explain it, sexism. Whenever it comes up someone says that women can't handle 5 set matches.

I 100% think grand slams should be 5 sets regardless of gender and there have been plenty of women players over the years who have said so as well, so that the games are put on equal footing. The idea that women can't play 5 sets is absurd, considering the conditioning that today's players go through. It would make for better tennis, not just the hardest hitter but the player who is at their physical top will win.

"women's tennis attracts the same level of viewership as men's" …….No it doesn't , if it did WTA tour only events practically generate no Interest at all. outside the Grand Slams and the combined Masters 1000 events , the WTA tour is pretty much irrelevant in terms of viewership

@H3R34TH4C0MM3NTS: Outside of gamblers does anyone actually watch the ATP 250, unless a major player needed some practice?

Going from the two leagues, ATP put their viewership at 1 billion, WTA puts it at 1.1 billion. So yeah, obviously irrelevant.

            • @freefall101: your source is the WTA tour giving those numbers? it seems like numbers from their marketing team. I'll go by the actual TV ratings and how broadcasters and sponsors view the WTA tour. but your right by the way ATP 250 events are for the journeymen trying to get points to get better seedings in the 1000 and GS events, and for the gamblers.
