Lyca Mobile 360-Day 50GB/30-Day Prepaid Mobile Plan $175 Delivered (New Services Only, Ongoing Renewal $360) @ Lyca Mobile

52

Found this on Lyca Mobile website, 600GB/yr for $175. Basically $14.58/mo for 50GB. Very good value for money.

For what's worth, I tried porting in, all details filled in correctly, found out the following morning I have now a new number with Lyca Mobile. Tried getting in touch with their support, to no avail. Their support is inexistent.

Topcashback $10 for new customers, bringing it down to $165/yr.

Anyone that is interested might want to look at the negs on the previous deals about lack of customer support and inability to port out.

I ported my number to Lyca about a week ago. It’s a spare number, so I didn’t make any calls until yesterday. I can receive messages, so I didn’t realize outgoing calls weren’t working until then. I’ll contact customer support tomorrow. Also, their porting process isn’t smooth, they assign you a new number first, then you have to go through the process again to replace it with your old number.

      • lt’s a shame they haven’t got the decency to inform people of the frustrating process and spare number kerfuffle before they sign up to Lyca.
As attractive as this offer seems, I won’t be using Lyca mobile again.

      • I just found out that if you want to swap from a physical SIM to an eSIM, you have to provide your credit card details, SIM number, and PUK code. I’ve already gone through the package, so I can’t switch to eSIM without contacting customer support.

Anyone have experience with Lyca vs Boost mobile?

    • +2

      boost better

    • For what it's worth, I've had a bad experience with Boost. Black spots in Melbourne, quite a few of them. Tried Boost several years apart, same experience.

My missus is happy with Boost.

    • Does Lyca still use Telstra network?

      • Nope

      • I can answer that. Lyca now uses the Vodafone network.

They have a weird system. If you have selected porting from previous number to them, they will activate new number first then eventually porting the number.

I suppose in a way that’s good for registering new Ubereats accounts?

  • $110 plan is good for school kids to limit their mobile data usage and seems the cheapest plan right now.

    • That's if you get adequate Vodafone network coverage in the area. As Lyca uses the Vodafone network.

    STAY AWAY FROM LYCA MOBILE!

    I had terrible experience.

    • Rumours say that ACCC and ACMA exist to make sure that telecom companies offer decent services.

      • ACCC & ACMA cant fix their awful system configuration/backend.

They are not worth it when free.

    • I concur.

        So why post it then?

        • Because some people don't care about porting in/out. Some may just want to download linux ISOs on their phones on the way to work and not care about data.

    The worse

Belong was bad but Lyca was the worst, never again.

I had terrible experience with Lyca before

    • unable to verify my driving licence many times on PC. End up using their app to verify.
    • no support. Both webchat and phone no answer no matter how long you wait
    • Took three days to get my number port in
    • NO MMS for sending and receiving, unbelievable
    • only good is cheap cheap cheap.

Do NOT port a number you value to Lyca. You wont want to give them a hostage. Their systems are janky hacked together garbage from a couple decades ago.

    Do not risk it.

    • I've taken Optus to the ombudsman after having porting issues with them during lockdown, I'd do the same to Lyca if they stuff it up when the time comes

The previous deal never tracked with TopCashback. Disabled auto-renew and triple checked. Still got charged $30 for auto-renewal. They also provided falsified documents to Amex, so a chargeback won't even work. They are experts at scamming people. DO NOT TOUCH LYCA!!! DO NOT TOUCH LYCA!!! DO NOT TOUCH LYCA!!! Won’t touch Lyca ever again!!

  • I recently ported after buying the Sim at the end of last year. You need to activate the Sim onto a temporary Lyca number before you port. The port itself was very fast, it was the next day as I had put the request in on a Sunday. You can even nominate a porting date. Just can't send MMS but can see suggestions around this online

  • Lyca. LOL.

  • Their payment gateway seems to be down. I cannot even order a sim. Anyone else?

  • Does "12 renewals" mean that you get this price for (almost) 12 years?

Or do they mean the monthly renewal of the data allowance because the data is allocated per month. Thus only (almost) 1 year.

  • AVOID. Boycott Lyca.

It takes them weeks to reply to support. They deserve to go under.

    The up side?

Lyca is “decent” for disposable temporary sims… that is until they ban you for having too many sims (4 total, max of two active at once on different accounts)

  • Lyca support mentioned this for port in numbers. "Porting depends on the approval from your previous provider. According to our process, we will submit the porting only after your Lycamobile sim card is registered and provided with a mobile number for it.
