Currently heavily marked down from RRP from a lot of retailers but this is the cheapest I've seen by far.
Great race day option for the larger runner or those looking for a less aggressive shoe.

I agree running shoes are getting very expensive these days, $200 will get you a basic daily trainer, race day shoes are nudging $400 !
They are not cheap - top-shelf running shoes / supershoes from most brands go for well above $300 RRP and manufacturers don't like to discount their premium models. So $200 seems like a solid bargain.
Guess you're not a runner. It's like golf clubs or camera equipment or watches or a gym membership. It's worth it if you buy it for a specific purpose and not so much if you don't.
Welcome to the marketing-driven consumerism treadmill! These have about as much performance benefit as taking a decently sized sh** before going for a run or laying off the beers and pasta the night before…
Frankly you'd be better off heading down your local oval a couple of times a week and running laps barefoot.
benefit of carbon plated shoes are pretty well documented at this stage, it's not a lot but in a situation where you want to take everything you can get (i.e. race day) it's very much worth it.
Guess you're not a runner either… The shoe tech has come a long way. It's probably one of the main reasons triathletes are putting down record half and marathon times lately.
This kind of shoes are very specialised running shoes, they are designed and engineered for the runners that are after every little bit of performance they can get.
There are plenty of running shoes under $100 for casual runners.
Carbon plate really propels you forward.. very different running and walking experience - cant go back lol
How does this compare to Bondi 9 for long walks? I love mine and I feel like walking on clouds. This is the same price, why would I choose this one?
This cannot compare to Bondi 9 for long walks
No, you wouldn't choose a carbon-plated raceday shoes for walks, stick with the Bondi for sure
Many Hokas are $149 here https://www.platypusshoes.com.au/shop/sale/hoka Bu don't expect many sizes.
Thank god they don't have size 13. My rotation is getting out of hand again…
Is it just me or $200 and bargain in the same sentence for running shoes is a bit much?
