Xbox Ally was a similar price on Amazon couple weeks ago. Not a bad deal for Xbox ally x I suppose.

      Yeah, it reached $780

Is it true you can't play xbox games on this? like, if you have huge xbox digital library, can't play?

    • +12

If the game is an Xbox Play Anywhere title (most 1st party Microsoft games and a fair few select other titles) you'll be able to play them, beyond that though sadly not. Slapping the name Xbox on it is somewhat confusing for this reason.

      • I think you just saved me $792.90

    • This is a handheld PC with the xbox branding, so it's quite different to an actual Xbox. There are some games that are both xbox games and PC games on the MS store ("play anywhere") - but if you have a vast xbox digital library, then you are correct, most of them will not be available on this device.

these look great, but before buying consider a ROG ally x (which performs better than the xbox ally) on the 2nd hand market. I bought one late last year for $700 from marketplace, certainly don't regret it.

Be mindful though, with RAM prices etc that price might not be achievable, but you might still be able to get close to the xbox ally price.

opinion: I prefer the form of the ROG, easier to fit in a backpack etc.

    • fact: XAX is infinitely better to hold than the old one which I upgraded from.

Also the old one couldnt use eGPU due to the proprietary XG Mobile connector they used. Mine is now rocking a 3060Ti in eGPU.

Not a fact, that's opinion, and your welcome to it

You must be referring to the ROG ally (not the ROG ally X which i referred to), the ROG ally X can use an Egpu via usb c/thunderbolt, i'm fairly confident it has the exact same egpu capability as the xbox ally x

PS, yes, i am aware the naming conventions can be confusing, i do wish Asus & M$ did a better job at making the naming easier to understand.

Love to get the ROG Ally Xbox x but not from Kogan thank you

Can also nab a refurbished non-xbox ally x for $1,099 plus shipping here if so inclined:

    Awesome little machines.

    • They are but that's the Z1E version. The Xbox versions are Z2 or Z2E, along with some other other differences.

      • Yeh I have an original Ally X and while its a great machine and not worth upgrading from that to the Xbox Ally X - if you have the option today go for the Z2E processor.

This is not the same for the Xbox Ally, which has a terrible processor and you would be better off avoiding.

      • The Xbox ally has a z2a processor, not a z2.
        That's a really shit processor

  • How do you get 1389.60? Unless Kogan raised the price of the x already

    • Seems they raised it by ~$50.

  • Official price increase for Xbox Ally X from Asus - now $1799

  • Anyone know how to get anywhereeeee near close to this price now?
