LNYBYO

šŸŽ XÄ«nniĆ”n hĒŽo (or so says google translate!). Jumping on the BYO GPU deal bandwagon, better late than never.

Had a customer tell us they inverted the layout on the Vanta V01 case and added a bunch in the fans at the bottom to act as intakes for their GPU and we though, what a brilliant idea for a BYO GPU build! Turns out it looks pretty snazzy too when you throw some Montech RX120's at it.

You all know the drill by now, RAM expensive, prices up, no end in sight. Yes there are other 7800X3D BYO deals floating around. Yes ours isn't the cheapest, but we're offering dual channel CL32 EXPO memory kits, B850 chipset motherboard, mATX chassis, Platinum rated PSU and 1/2 - 1/3rd of the lead times (at least at the time of this post) advertised at ~ 3-7 days although we do have a handful pre-assembled and ready to go for those who get their orders in early without any customizations!

The Specs | $1,599 after $700 off with code LNYBYO

That's some good ram, although for some 7800X3D's the IMC may not be able to run 6400 1:1, best set to 6200C30 or even 6000C28 seems they are Dual Rank Hynix-A iirc.

    Nice deal regardless.

    • +63

Sometimes I think I'm starting to understand all this pc lingo and then someone goes and writes a sentence like that

      • +5

Yeah - I desperately need a new computer but everytime a deal comes out I think is OK there are always counter arguments as to the wrong configurations or suggestions as to what would make it so much better for the same cost. I appreciate that its just opinions but nevertheless a system that the majority would agree on for the money offered would make it so much easier for me. I have no idea about configurations so look for the number of plus votes of those in the know…
Life was so much similar with windows 95 ;-)

        • +8

Fortunately all this RAM jiggery-pokery gets you at best a few percent extra performance in most real-world applications. That is to say that if you can't be bothered diving into the weeds, you're not really missing out on a lot.

      • +4

Imagine if we did the same component analysis on cars:

For 98 RON, timing’s under‑advanced. Needs another 1-3 degrees above 3,500 RPM, current BTDC is too soft.

    • +2

what's the plain English translation of this?

      • +1

It's all to do with timings…

      • +4

Ram kit's native speed too fast to run reliably on 7800x3d so turn down the speed and decrease latency instead, essentially.

      • +2

One won't see any difference in their everyday usage.

      • Broom broom

    • +41

To try and help clarify for anyone reading this who isn't quiet sure what all that means…

The RAM comes with a pre-defined 'overclock' profile built in (EXPO) that we enable by default and that will run the memory at 6400MHz (frequency) and CL32 (latency). This equates to roughly 10 nanoseconds of overall latency for a memory access call.

Functionally equivalent to 6000MHz at CL30 or ~ 6800/CL34 which both are ~ 10ns per call.

The memory controllers in the CPUs have a gearing ratio 1:1 / 1:2 etc they operate, with 1:1 being optimal for performance, but that's a whole other rabbit hole to go down as to how that works exactly. Consensus is that 6000/CL30 @ 1:1 is the sweet spot for these CPUs for stability and performance and you can manually set these desired timings in the BIOS if you felt so inclined with these kits on this motherboard with this CPU.

Functionally speaking, we enable the default EXPO profile (6400/CL32 for these kits) and run them through a suite of burn in QA tests that include 4 full passes of Memtest86+, Prime95 and Aida64 (RAM stress testing applications) so if there is any stability issues in this configuring we'll catch it long before it reaches a customer. In the rare case stability becomes an issue down the line at these settings they can be adjusted at any time in the BIOS settings as mentioned above and we can always walk you through the process, but this is exceptionally rare.

It's worth bearing in mind also that RAM latency / frequency is rarely the bottleneck in gaming (and most day to day use cases / especially with X3D processors) and at most you're eeking out 1-3% of performance. If you're the kind of person who likes cranking up the graphics settings in games, and/or doesn't have a particularly high end GPU, and/or likes playing at higher than 1080P resolution, it's practically a non-issue.

However for the enthusiasts crowd / reddit commenter / gamers nexus subscriber, running the wrong kit of RAM in your gaming PC is a shameful sin…

We fall somewhere in the middle,. erring on the side of the enthusiasts (which we all are here at our end!) tempered by the practicality of the cost / overall system spec / intended use case and overall budget.

      • LOL at the GN shout out.

        • You mean the GN burn. I lol'd.

      • If the RAM fails in the future (worst case) would the solution be replacement, refund (at current value) or store credit?

        • Replacement with same or equivalent where possible, case by case basis if not.

  • I have a request/query for the store rep. Is there a way to get the intel build with 265 cpu? I was trying to find a way to customise on website but could not find a way to do it.

    • +4

Sorry, that offer was created to help us clear the 245K stock we had on hand with a pretty massive write off per unit to do so! We couldn't carry that write off across to any other model, so while we could build you that system with the 265 instead, it would be at a much higher cost than simply the price difference between the 245K and 265.

That said, if you're interested, shoot us an email and our sales team will get back to you with the pricing.

      • Thanks for replying I will reach out to the team to find the difference anyway I am after a of for proxmox box so need some decent cpu as I already acquired additional Ram.

  • How is it possible to get ddr5 ram that isnt like $1000 now? Are there particular brands that AI data centres dont want?

    • +1

Older stock probably, or shipments they can probably sometimes get at a reasonable price is my guess

      • Must take some hustle these days

    • I bought a new kit of 2 sticks 32 ( 64) gskill rgb (expo), for $600 off marketplace. New in atore i had no hope. I git lucky and took a gamable aa the seller was based in the country and mo one qas buying it. Keep scanning marketplace. Also Amazon havw had a vouple of deals on Caorsair pop up

  • +4

Soon It’ll be BYO ram, storage and GPU

  • -5

My opinion - better off going the Claw option for $3899 from GalaPower if you’re wanting an RTX5080, better CPU, better cooling, better matched ram for ryzen cpu, larger space for graphics card which I don’t think would even fit in this case

    • seems to really depend on what GPU you want to add (BYO). sweet spot here seems to be the 5060 ti 16gb or maybe even 5070?

    • +5

Well of course you'll be better off going with a PC that costs $2,400 more. But some people ain't got dat typa dough

  • Let me swap in a full size motherboard with the MSI 130R and I'm in. mATX is not for me, great deal otherwise.

    • +6

bluff called, atx board added! 130R was always an option

      =]

  • I have a stupid Windows 10 PC that is ineligible to upgrade. It has a 3090ti GPU. Would this be a suitable graphics card for this machine?

    • A 1000w PSU might be required for that 3090TI, 850w is cutting it a bit close.

Max GPU length for the Vanta case is ~ 300mm so if your GPU is longer than you'll need to select another chassis.

Other than that I can see why it wouldn't work

    • Use Rufus to build a W11 usb installer, it bypasses the W10/TPM eligibility checks.

  • Evatech 850W Platinum PCIe 5.1 ATX 3.1 Power Supply

    Who actually makes this PSU?

furthermore, where can I find a review?

    • +2

I believe built by RSY and is essentially a SAMA P850 platform (big in the asian markets, especially china) but with all the caps substituted higher end Rubycon Japanese caps, and a better fan.

      https://www.cybenetics.com/evaluations/psus/3001/

Not sure if other big brands that get western media coverage are using the same platform, they make it hard to track down. I know Enermax / Cougar, Seasonic and SuperFlower have all at some point in time sold RSY built PSUs but not sure what current models might be theirs.

  • I'm looking for something very similar to it.
I've just reached out on the website about a no PSU option.

If that is possible I'll upgrade to a 9800X3D, the MSI 130R and the dual fan cooler and wrap it up.
    Great deal!

    • +1

That'll be a tough one as far as QA testing / building / warranting… I'm going to guess that's a non-starter but our guys will get back to you via email to confirm.

      • Yeah, I totally understand that I'm in a hard position here.
But let's see what they can do for me.
        Thanks anyway.

  • I'm looking for a lounge room PC for my misses, this seems affordable.

What GPU could I fit in? maybe a 5070ti or no chance?

Hoping for 4k 60fps if possible, I'll also have to check case size to see if it fits behind the TV.

    • Most fit no problem, just check the length is 300mm or less if opting for the default case, otherwise all the chassis options will fit pretty much anything.

      • Anything else you suggest I potentially edit to try hit 4k 60fps?

Or I should be ok with the current setup and adding in a 5070ti/5080 (if i win lotto)

Gotta try sell the idea of buying another PC to the better half…

        • +1

4K/60 really depends on the game! Some games will do it easy, others will struggle even with the top tier gear. As a basic rule, the GPU is almost always the bottleneck when it comes to high resolution gaming, so the higher end you can go in that department the better.

In terms of bottlenecks, second to the GPU is the CPU, then distant third is the RAM.

  • I know you guys need to mark up to make money but +$120 for a Thermalright Phantom Spirit Evo?

    • Just looked at what's going on there. The overall discount is blended across different components, and it seems they applied more of the discount to the default cooler than its actually priced at. That's making the delta between the default and the other options (unless they are discounted separately) more than the full retail price 🫠

      • Fair. Thanks for the reply.

I don’t feel like I need to upgrade yet, as my i7 is 8 years old and runs most games well enough but I feel like the longer I wait the more I’m gonna be screwed down the line by these computer component rises.

  • If I downgrade the CPU from 7800 to a 9700x the discount doesn't seem to apply - it ends up being more expensive. I'm looking at this for productivity / editing rather than gaming so don't need the X3D variant.

    • +1

Just gave it a try on my end and it seems to work. Are you getting any error messages? Maybe try clearing cookies or use a different browser? If the problem persists, shoot us an email with the details and our webdev team will investigate!

      • Sorry my mistake, I didn't see the grand total.

  • This is very tempting.

The information under the Vanta TG black mini states '355 mm (with SFX PSU), 280-335 mm depending on ATX PSU length, cable connection positions and PCI-e lane positioning.'

I am considering getting a 5070ti tuf, which is 329mm long.

Just wanted to clarify whether this will fit, or is the 300mm stated above the cutoff?

    • Won't fit with any of the PSU options on offer currently with 300mm is the cut off.

You'll need to sub it out for an SFX PSU to comfortably get a PSU that long installed.

If you shoot us an email with the request we might be able to sort out adding an SFX option to the list!

  • Can the Vanta Case take a 2.5 SSD and 3.5 HDD i have? Do i need to remove the fans? Also will this case fit a gigabyte 4060 Ti? Also will the MSI MAG PANO 130R look odd with a mATX board in it? Thanks

    • +1

Regarding the Gigabyte 4060 Ti (there are several models), as long as it's shorter than 300mm in length it should be no problem.

As for the SATA SSD and HDD, yes in the Vanta case those mount to the same brackets used for the fans we've bunded in this build so it's doable but those fans would need to be removed. There is fan bracket at the top also and it might be possible to screw a sata drive in upside down and run cables to it, but if it does work it might be ugly and it'll probably only fit the SSD, not the 3.5" HDD if it fits any at all.

If that's a deal breaker, upgrading to the MSI PANO case will solve the issue.

      • Thanks for the quick response! Sorry I edit my post. Will the MSI MAG PANO 130R look odd with a mATX board in it?

  • It's ok if I add a 5070ti to the BYO right? I like the whole setup but think its easier for you guys to stick a gpu in there so im not stuck searching for a specific size

    • +2

Any options presented on the page should be fine to go with if it suits you! Of course, we are tasked with building & testing every PC before we dispatch them, so if we happen to find any issues we'll discuss them with the customer rather than randomly proceeding! Basically, no risk. =]

  • will i get all the box, manuals, bit and pieces and what not that comes with all the components?

    • +1

We receive a lot of our inventory in 'SI' packaging to cut down on logistics costs and waste so typically no boxes provided. This just means multiple units in a single carton, no color printed retail box, but otherwise the exact same product.

This also means we rarely get paper manuals, although most retail packages don't provide these any more either.

You're lucky to get a 'quick start guide' that tells you to plug it in and turn it on. Manuals are usually provided via the manufacturers website with nothing more than a qr code or url provided to help you find it in the box.

We provide our own quick start guide for the PC itself, plus all the little accessories like extra screws that come with the chassis, anti sag bracket (depending on the model of GPU), unused sata data cable or any modular PSU cables are provided, along with the all important little reminder card telling you to not pull the cmos battery out and feed it to your children.

  • what 5090 will fit this case?

    • If you can find one under 300mm in length, it'll fit in this case with the default ATX PSU.

Unfortunately most are 330-380mm so we've added SFX PSU options to give anyone with larger GPUs an option which in theory gives you up to 355mm in length on the GPU in the Vanta cases.

Alternatively, and much more cost effectively, you can swap to the MSI MAG 130R chassis and use the default ATX PSU and get up to 400mm of GPU length clearance.

  • @evatech any chance of more case options?

    • What did you have in mind?

With the requirement of us having to slot in the 3x reverse-blade Montech RGB fans (as that's the required inclusion) it does make additional chassis a little more complicated, but we're certainly open to it if it works.

  • is it still out of stock?

    • The default RAM option sold out, the deal as a whole is still on offer. Just have to select from the remaining options available.

      • what options are available? Can I use 32G x2 RAM?

        • Remaining options will appear on the product page. It looks like 32G (2x16) 6000MHz CL28 and 6400MHz CL32 kits are still available at this stage.
