Free Length Alterations for Select Pants (Minimum Value $29.90), $6 for Value Less Than $29.90 or for Hidden Stitch @ Uniqlo

760

Went in-store the other day at Uniqlo and had no idea they offered this service, pretty good deal of you're grabbing pants from there. Took 15 minutes when we were there, sometimes can take up to half an hour.

Can also be done for online orders if you provide measurements while ordering, same fee structure applies.

Seen it mentioned a bit in comments in other posts but figured it's worth making a proper post about it.

The pants themselves must be valued at $29.90 or more for free length alterations. Less than that value or those requiring a hidden stitch (business pants etc) will cost $6, which is still a pretty decent deal.

Apologies if the title is a bit confusing, was trying my best to word it properly lol.

As part of the various services we offer here at UNIQLO, we offer alterations (hem shortening) for selected pants at all of our stores and online. We offer a free normal lock stitch for selected UNIQLO pants priced $29.90 or more. For items priced less than $29.90 and for those requiring a blind stitch, a $6 fee will be applied.

Seems that way when I was trying to search previous posts on here, but I had no idea until I went in over the weekend, so thought I'd share here.

You can even buy them online then take them instore for free alterations after you receive them

They've had the option to alter online for a bit, adds an extra day or two for processing but if you're buying online you probably aren't in a rush anyway

Yeah but if you take it in store they can measure you, pin them and alter them on the spot. Online is great if you know your required length, but I don't. Also doing alterations voids your return ability, so if doing it online, you better be sure you have the length right.

    • thanks was wondering if this was the case so good to know.

  • this is why they make them so long, good service & good fitting jeans, usually return in an hour & done

Would be handy, but I've only ever bought Uniqlo pants on sale for <=$20… so I just roll them up.

A handy service which I've used many times. Just know that you cannot return the pants after they've been altered.

Uniqlo do this to reduce costs in 2 ways:
Manufacturing cost - So they don't need to produce 2-4 different lengths for each waist measurement
Returns cost - So consumers don't/can't return altered items, reducing restocking/disposal fees

Of course there is the additional cost of employing someone to do the alterations.

For change of mind yes, but ACL will still apply if the pants are otherwise faulty.

      • They do repair.

    Sounds like a stitch up.

In other countries they just stock different lengths which is way better. You don't need to go back to the store and wait and sometimes the hemming cuts off the natural taper in a weird way

  • Had blind stitch alteration done recently. Very poor job.

Must be tough to do alterations when you're blind. :p

Got excited for a minute. "Length alterations" But in reality, only "hem shortening". Not much good for us long-legged folks. :(

  • Has always been free I think.
