As far as I’m aware Lian Li is still good.
At a guess this is a clearance of old stock. USB 3.1 and a PCIE 4.0 riser is all out of date for new builds. Only budget-conscious buyers with previous-gen used hardware and DDR4 builds are in the market for this.
Wow, I hadn't thought about those Lian Li aluminium cases in years. I wonder how the aluminium held up on those things after, what, like 20 years now?
I bought a large Lian Li tower server case a month ago. It’s got a firewire port in it. Around 20yo. Comes with a wheeled dolly to roll the beast around.
Still in great condition.
Lian Li is still a premium brand and case, there's just more competition around these days particularly in the Budget Chinese market
Margins for both cases and fans have gotten quite thin…
Older case designs will be discounted in favour of newer designs, and plenty of better designed cases are coming out each year.
If you haven't taken a look in the case market since like… 2021 so to speak
The appeal these days seems to be ease of building, maintenance and airflow.
By ease of building I mean thumb screws, better design for cable management, less screws, more 2.5" HDD/SSD, 3.5" HDD mounts and accessories
It's amazing what has happened these past few years
Higher CFM or Static Pressure Fans and CPU Coolers for cheaper especially from like Arctic and Thermalright
Lian Li is going pretty hard into the whole Wireless Fans
Case design kinda peaked in the affordable midrange with Corsair 4000D where we got an easy to build chassis, easy to clean mesh filters, and good airflow design. Plenty of accessories to boot. Coolermaster with all their 3D printable case add-ons
Most 40-50L Cases these days have appropriately tall feet and feature anywhere from like 7-9 120mm Fan mounts, up to 13 for 70L+.
Now we're seeing a lot more designs built to show off Wood accents or the GPU design or really trying to specialize
And nobody is really forking over $$$ for something like an all white case these days bc things are just affordable
Ow my fricken eyes
Lian Li used to be expensive stuff that we dreamed of one day being able to afford…now it's cheap. Did they sell out?
