28 Status Credits for 12 hours of flying, thanks Virgin.

  • Can these flights be bought directly from Virgin, or must be bought through FlightFinderAU ?

I have some Virgin travel credit to use up.

    • +1

Flights are on Virgin metal, you would hope they sell tickets for their own flights. Aggregators often link to OTA's that offer tickets cheaper than booking direct, so whether you get the exact price fare that Flight Finder is advertising is a different matter.

    • +1

Will be more expensive, e.g. the 9-16/06 SYD-DPS is $403 booking via Virgin vs $319 here.

    • +1

When I just looked it up they also show the option to go via Virgin. However that was $680 vs the $442 with the third party (which is the low advertised price) - personally I would probably fork out he extra to book with the Airline directly. Those third parties can be good but also can be a nightmare. One look at their terms is enough to keep me away "Airfares and tour prices offered by the Principals can increase without notice even though your arrangements have been confirmed. Such price increases are beyond our control and you will be liable to pay for any such increases."

      • +1

Personally, I prefer buying directly from the airline, but when the price difference is significant (like you pointed out $680 vs $442), the OzBargainer in me, would chance it with the 3rd party, hah.

How can they 'increase the price', if you have already paid/bought the ticket via the 3rd party ?

        • +1

found some direct on site for less than $400 return from Melbourne
the dates are now gone though

  • -1

for those using velocity points if any of there partner airlines are having a sale you can link you velocity account to that booking on the thirdparty website i do this all teh time with Qatar airways you get velocity points all the same.

    • You still get the velocity points, but can't pay for the flights with velocity points right?

      • yeah thats the down side with third party sites you can't use the velocity points for the site. BUT unlike the velocity website you can choose the exact flight you want and not what ever they give you on the velocity website they limit you on choice.

AUD to IDR is also at a record high, 1AUD = 11900Rp

    • +1

      More Bintang singlets!

  • How is the weather and tourist season from late May to early June for a family vacation?

    • +1

      Yes

    • -7

Can't speak for May, I was in Bali earlier this year. Weather is hot as expected with intermittent rain throughout the day, not as humid as Singapore, infrastructure is terrible. I don't see why it's so hyped. Safe to say unless I have a reason to, I won't go there. Only upside is that Balinese food is delicious. If you're staying in a resort, just stay there. Nothing imo worth going out of it for if you have children to handle.

    • I went there on family vacation in early june 2024 and weather was great, we had early morning showers couple of days but other than that it was sunny and nice

No November for Sydney -> Bali?

  • +2

Is mixandmatchtravel website reliable for booking (thats where I am seeing these low fare)?

  • +5

Make sure you dont sit anywhere near the back. They use the narrow body planes and every single person outside of business class has to use the rear toilets. There is a line up the entire flight. So unless you enjoy having some fat pricks arse in your face the whole time, sit closer to the front.

  • No deal unless you get to book directly with Virgin (at that price) - those third parties can be good but can also be a Nightmare. From the Mix&Match T&Cs :"Airfares and tour prices offered by the Principals can increase without notice even though your arrangements have been confirmed. Such price increases are beyond our control and you will be liable to pay for any such increases."

    • +1

It’s only a little more to book with Virgin. The flights im looking at are only 75 to go direct with Virgin

      • The Flights I looked at (Brisbane) were 442 wit Mix & Match and 680 with Virgin.

  • +7

Also bear in mind these prices don't include check in baggage

    • +3

reckon you could quite easily get away with 8kg in Bali for a week

      • You could quite easily lose that weight from Bali belly alone :-)

        • Too bad they don't let lighter people carry more weight

      • +1

But where am i going to fit my 36 bintang singlets and 5 genuine rolexes?

        • Wear 15 on your person then offload them into carry-on after security. The Rolexes though? Hmmmm, how many can you fit on your forearm?

  • +2

Why dont Virgin fly direct from Perth?

    • +1

      Because it's Perth

Do we ever see deals for school holiday period?! Would love that!

    • +1

Ours are in year 10 and 12 - cannot wait for them to finish so that we wont be limited to school Holidays any more. It is awful, you always see these bargains and the only times we can travel as a family it is likely more than double. I know, I know, supply and demand….

      • thats why families do home schooling, can learn and do program in bali

        • I curious how common is home schooling here? I like the idea of the program in Bali!

      • +1

My wife is a teacher, so I've committed to a (working) lifetime of expensive holidays :(

        • Wow, didn’t think of that. Sorry no bargains at all then😢😢😢

      • +1

Yeah, crazy that every year I see these awesome deals and then nope, can’t travel. Our usual go to time is July or Dec/Jan and everything is almost double the price - flights, accomodations.

  • +2

if virgin had the two flights a day from/to Sydney like Jetstar I would have waited for a sale from them. I booked with Jetstar recently for the early morning flight to Bali and the lunchtime flight back (early May)….definitely NOT doing overnights ever again with Jetstar on the NEO torture planes. I didn't want to take the chance those flight times sold out for my dates (as I already had accommodation fully paid, non refundable) so got them for $950 return for both of us + cost for bag for me and seats. Could I have waited and gotten them cheaper?, maybe, but now I don't have to sweat about it, just in case.

  • +1

You could buy these flights and combine it with a 3k Jakarta - Europe business class flight.

  • +2

Funny that you can prolly do Melb-Bali-Canberra-Bali-Melb and it's almost the same with flying Melb-Canberra return with Virgin

  • Are they refundable incase change of mind

    • +1

need to buy insurance for that , on virgin website.

  • Is the deal finished? Can't seem to find any cheap flights
