Breville Oracle Jet BES985 Coffee Machine - Damson Blue $2799 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in Limited Store) @ Harvey Norman

60

Mega coffee machine, Normally ~$3k, saw the refurb at ~2k. Not a bad option for a bit cheaper if you can stomach the colour, also if you can stomach Harvey Norman.

Comes with 2 free bags of beans too apparently.

  • Was $2640 a week or so ago at JB with the 15% off.

Alternative to HN, $3069 for black colour at Bing Lee but receive a 10% gift card if you were planning to buy something else from Bing Lee already.

I'd wait for a sale though, these usually go for about 2.6k on a normal sale.

      Cool story bro

At 2 coffee's a day, you already break even within the first year (including the price for coffee beans).

      • And considering these machines generally last quite a few years

  • Have had this machine since it was released in late 2024 and been very happy.

Saying that I paid less than this price back then via Good Guys Commerical, although the price on there has gone up since.

Good guys commercial is just a shadow of what it was since late last year, basically same price as JB commercial (and using the same systems) and you can find most items cheaper when on sale elsewhere and the extremely limited range makes it not worth the time.

    This is Italian machine pricing

    • Trading reliability for ease of use

  • Madness that it doesn't have flow control at this price point.

Added it (motor speed controller) to my barista express for $6.

Made the biggest difference by miles…

    Madness…

    • Don't these use a vibration pump? What's the motor speed controller hooked up to?

      • +1

        The pump itself.
Just slows down/ speeds up the pump (which varies the pressure).

Hit the 8-9bar sweet spot everytime. Can then see the color coming from the bottom of portafilter and taper off.

Don't need to be anywhere near as precise with dialing in.

Only issue is cafe bought coffee now taste very ordinary.

        • Ah - it's like a Slayer mod but performed by slowing the pump, not using a needle valve. I've heard done people opening the hot water valve slightly on their BDB, but unfortunately my Oracle Touch has neither a manual hot water control or a pressure gauge.
