[Pre Order] Trade in Your Old Mobile Device for $200 off a Google Pixel 10a Device @ JB Hi-Fi

120

The deal is back again get Trade in any phone towards a Google Pixel 10A and when you trade in an old device through the JB HI-FI website you will get the trade in value plus a $200 coupon which can be used towards the purchase of the phone.

also note there is an additional discount offer for a number of pixels with the trade in offer ending 11 March 2026. Trade in your old device and get the trade in value plus an additional amount for off a pixel device as per below:

Pixel 10a $200 Off
Pixel 10 (128GB) $350 Off
Pixel 10 (256GB) $400 Off

This on top of the trade in value for your current device

As example my pixel 8a is currently worth $240 trade in value to I would get $200+$240 trade in value potentially bringing the device total price down to $409 and then the JB hi fi gift card to arrive later on via email means I'm essentially out of pocket $259 only.

Previous trade in deals prior to the pixel 9a were much better as I got my current pixel 8a to a point where I was only out of pocket $200 but this looks to be the new normal for A series trade in offers.

You'll probably be able to get s26 for that price in a week's time, by training in and stacking coupons.

    • +13

Can't believe Samsung is making us train for their device. Disgusting.

      • +1

        Trading *

        Too early for this.

But they have been secretly training us haven't they? Trick our brains into buying a new phone every other year by offering discount etc and making us believe it's a solid deal.

        • Training you to buy essentially the same phone with an increased number year after year.

          • @Gandalf the Thrifty: On the positive side, it hasn't coated meober $100 to upgrade phone from the last 3-4 years. I am actually not going to complain about that

            • @Oh Daddy: coated meober, same

              • @fredblogs: Is this a durable cover or should I go with an OtterBox? I drop my phone regularly…

    • I'm really hoping so. Fingers are very tightly crossed for good launch deals.
Especially now that my pixel 7 has been kicked off monthly security updates.

      • Pixel 7's will receive security updates for another 18+ months. As you've said they aren't doing monthly updates, but they will release an update when there's something worthy of it - which means updates will still be coming out faster than most any other vendor.

        • +1

Yeah older devices have been switched to a quarterly release schedule. Which really isn't in the spirit of extended security updates. There was a vulnerability that they patched for other devices with the Feb release, but Pixel 7's are still vulnerable.
Pixels used to be cheaper than the "premium" brands of Apple and Samsung which made these smaller issues acceptable. They're no longer really that much cheaper, but they are still not "premium" by my impression.
And the batteries only being rated to 1000 cycles, instead of Samsung's 2000, is really noticeable.

    • +1

Hoping for this but the last few release day sales have been on the decline compared to a few years ago.

    • My discounted price for s26 is still around one grand after trade ins and JB HI-FI coupons

      • Not sure what you did there. I picked up 2 s26ultras for 2200, without any trade in.

There were no trade in discounts this year, rather straight up coupons.

  • +5

I feel like in the last 6-12 months, the launch/trade in deals have slowly started to get worse.

Even last year, Samsung had some great deals going for S25 series launch where you could use a bunch of codes, buy a $100 voucher for $20, add trade in bonuses etc which were $400 to get a good deal.

Now its seems like those values are all declining and hearing from some friends in the industry the launch deals for the S25 series this year are going to be much reduced from last year. Saw the same with the Pixel 10 series launch late last year. Shame to see it :(

    • +1

last 6-12 months, the launch/trade in deals have slowly started to get worse.

The best deals are preorder on release. Samsung s25 was released early Feb last year and had some great deals like you said.

S26 this time is a minor improvement and any software will also be released on S25 making it less appealing to get.

      • +6

However, deals are indeed getting worse in the past 9 months or so.

Z Fold/Flip 7 are getting lot more expensive
Pixel 10 series are getting lot more expensive
JB hifi increase their ETC for their mobile plan

I dont think you can get flagship phone under $1k anymore even on release.

        • meanwhile its EPS and share price increased

    • +3

The Pixel 10 Pro deals were quite good via JB Hi-Fi.

    • How many of those $100 voucher were you able to stack last year?

    • Demand probably plummeted as no one is spending on the same thing every year.

  • Can i trade my iphone 6s that been sitting in the drawer

  • +9

I mean the Pixel10 has been cheaper than this already…. surely a deal on that is worth waiting for?

  • +2

    Hoping 9a goes below $500

  • +1

Have they fixed the battery issues surrounding the Pixel A series ?

    • +1

My current Pixel 8A can't survive a day without a powerbank but they claim the 10A one has 30 hours on a single charge.

      • ya mine same gives me the sad low battery sound

but pixel 8a was a bargain at $349 after fake trade in 2 years ago at JB… actually I paid a bit more for the 256gb

    • +3

Has google ever released a Pixel phone without some horrendous design flaw? Maybe in another 10 years…

      • haha yeh they all flawed I think there's still recall notices at Officeworks for 6a … free refund if you got one from there

bloody google recall I didn't qualify for battery reimbursement

  • +4

$150 more for the 256gb used to be $100 jump from 128gb

    • +3

Yeah, the price of 128GB of storage is criminal.

      • +2

        iPhone: "hold my ginger beer"

        • Yeah, well there's that. They've obviously borrowed from the Apple pricing model.
          I miss SD-cards…. sniff

  • This seems to be same specs as the Pixel 9a just with new software, the hardware hasn't changed a lot and they haven't updated the CPU which they normally do..

    • +3

A new way to clear 9a old stock faster is releasing an almost same new phone.

    • +2

Pretty bizarre. Phone upgrades aren't what they used to be.

    • +2

True. One positive is that the modem has been upgraded to the Exynos 5400.

This is the same modem used on the Pixel 9 and 10 series. The 9a series used the 5300.

  • I am having a lot of issues with google pixel 9, and phone reception. Has this been improved?

I get some coverage, but it drops out frequently and call quality is poor.

  • +1

So basically a Pixel 9a with a slightly different case.

    • +3

From what I can see there's Satellite SOS capability, and improved charging. That's basically it.
I'm looking at upgrade from an 8a, I'm mainly interested in better battery life which I think is improved on these (9a and 10a)

  • +2

Tempting and then again not. Got the 9a last week and love it.

    • What price?

      • +1

Around $550 is what I paid with the code

        • Same. This way I don't have to trade in my old phone and can keep a backup…..if I already had a spare I'd be upset at missing this

  • Officeworks

Get a $200 additional Officeworks Gift Card when you pre-order the Google
Pixel 10a with an eligible trade-int

    • +2

Trade in for Pixel 8a 256 is $240 at JB, $250 at Officeworks.
But I don't want an Officeworks Gift card, I'd rather price off the phone like JB….

  • +1

Huge difference in the marketing. Almost no references to AI except a few Gemini bits.

  • +2

Google trade-in giving me up to 300$ for my pixel 7a, plus $50 store credit if i pre-order (email) plus 10% store credit for being a plus member. Total will come to $414.10

    • i checked and my 256gb pixel 8A via google store will be $400 but not $400 off but a $400 payment back to you on receipt of the previous phone.

      • If there is nothing majorly wrong with your phone its still a saving.

  • Will JB also give similar trade-in deal for iPhone 17e or Samsung s26 when released?

  • +5

Differences in the 10a compared to last year's 9a:

    10% brighter
30w peak charging up from 23w
Wireless charging is 10w up from 7w
    Newer gorilla Glass version
Camera bump is completely flush (9a had a small bump)
Some more recycled content in the device
In some regions it supports satellite SOS

It still has the Tensor G4 chip from last year.

If those things don't matter to you, grab a discounted 9a when you can.

    • +1

My thoughts as well. I Doordash/Uber eats part time and am getting sick of keeping a power bank by my side for my pixel 8A which always keeps running out of juice in the middle of delivery orders.

  • +1

Pixel 6A not in the list of eligible devices to trade in :(

    • +1

Google Store has Pixel 6A for trade in for $150

  • How can you get the google trade-in if you're sending your phone to JB?

    • I did the trade in previously for my old pixel 6. What you do is complete the online form and get the coupon code , then you will me mailed out a return envelope to send back reply paid to the trade in provider. That way if you are trading in for the purpose of upgrading phones, you can still do the transfer of data/apps thingy before you send out the phone.

Conversely the google store is having a similar trade in offer but they will REFUND you once the old phone is in their possession.

      • Makes sense, it previously read as you can get a JB voucher and a Google trade in credit, but seems it is not possible

  • +2

It shows additional $200 off with trade in.

    • Deal has now been updated to reflect that.

  • I'm confused, are you getting $200 off and $150 off and the value of your phone? Or was $150 wrong and its $200 + the value of your trade in?

    • @Sydneyswans Can you confirm
"As example my pixel 8a is currently worth $240 trade in value to I would get $200+$240 trade in value potentially bringing the device total price down to $409 and then the JB hi fi gift card to arrive later on via email means I'm essentially out of pocket $259 only."

Looks like you added the $150 and $200 plus value of your trade in so is the voucher from Perks stackable?
Or should out of pocket amount be the $409 you mentioned in your example?

      Thanks

  • where is did u see it mentioned "$150 coupon with the purchase of a Google Pixel 10A" ?
I can not see it anywhere on the website?

    • Yes I am completely confused too and that was because JB HI FI was sending conflicting emails with one mentioning $150 off but the actual website showing the offer as per this link so im going with the website.

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/tradein

I think the 8A deal was the better offer back in 2024 but ill still end up getting this for under $500 after trade in.

  • I read it as your trade-in value plus the $200 E-gift card. In my case $200+280=$480 off the price of the Pixel 10a??

    • Yes that would be correct. That's the similar discount I'm getting with my pixel 8a

  • Anybody tried the process is it $200 + trade in + anything else?

  • Okay I need this. The last time I did this, I sent out my old phone before getting the new one. I didn't know any better as it was my first time. I want to do it correctly this time. What's the best way to handle it? I still want to have the old phone until I get my new one so I can transfer data, photos, apps before getting the other one factory reset and sent back. It does have like a time frame to send it back right?

    • +2

Go to trade in and follow the process. I used a pixel 8a which was worth $220. They'll place a hold for this amount on your credit card until they get the phone.
When you've confirmed this you receive 2 emails. One with instructions on how to send back the existing phone and the 2nd with the eGift card link. This link also allows you to claim a $200 off coupon for the 10a. Click the link which emails you a code then get your gift card.
Then go to check out the pixel 10a and apply the voucher and the gift card. Then pay the rest ($429 for me). You can use another gift card e.g.:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/949291
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/867551
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/931192
Can't be combined with $10 perk.
Get your new phone. Transfer everything then wipe the old one and send it back to them by the date in the email (18/3 for me).

      • Amazing. Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

      • If you dont care about the old phone can you swap it in store?

  • Can you get the free coupon then decide not to send in the old phone?

    • It's a pre authorisation on your card so whilst you can, they will still take the trade in value from you if you don't send.

  • Trust JB Hi fi to discount the pixel 10 AFTER i get the 10a.

    Thankfully mine is unopened
