CamelCamelCamel.Used these for work for a few years now. Been a big fan!
I used one of these for a while but couldn't get along with it. I like more depth to the keys generally, but what I struggled the most with was the lack of being able to readily feel where my hands were on the keyboard because it's all so flat. I like to anchor my hand on the edge of keys etc, to reduce needing to look down to orient myself. In particular I use the F keys quite a lot for programming and with these all together in a row with no spacing between them I found it significantly more difficult than a keyboard with the F keys in groups of four.
That said, my wife likes it a lot for more regular office work. Presumably if I gave it more time I'd have gotten used to it, but I didn't see the value in doing that.
I love this keyboard l, but F keys are the downer for me too.
What do you recommend instead?
I'm not sure I can really recommend something specific since I haven't tried a huge amount of keyboards personally.
However, I ended up getting a Keychron Q6 HE that I really like. It had most the features I wanted: mechanical style keyboard, full size (I use numberpad enough to want it), multiple device switching, premium feel, no extra macro keys around like a lot of Logitech mechanical keyboards have. I also liked the idea of trying out magnetic switches with their configurability. The only thing I'm mildly disappointed in is the lighting not being shine-through, so the lighting is more or less useless for actually seeing anything. I don't really need to see keys like that most of the time so it's not a big deal.
i had 2 and after a while:
when plugged in (ie charged) = the Q button doesnt work with caps lock on. but works with caps lock off
when charged the button Q works but when i press it will register q and then move the cursor to the beginning of the sentence..
weird
both of them?
im describing the one im still using right now but the other one had very similar issue ie button and work / not depending if charged/ not
Bought one before Covid and was a huge fan until it died around September last year.
Bought a replacement and space key decided it won't spring back anymore after only two months of regular office use.
Did a quick online research and it seems that quality went downhill.
Shame, I was a huge Logitech fan for years.
Not sure if I could justify an office keyboard for this price.
Would much rather a <$50 one for a cheapy or go for a slightly pricier ergonomic gaming keyboard if I wanted a "good" one.
It comes down to personal preference and value. I type on mine 8 hours per day, 5 days a week. Since this is almost a quarter of my life, having something I am happy and comfortable with is worth a lot to me
Agreed
Agree. Not this specific version, but the older one I've been using for work for many years. It's held up well and the battery lasts for weeks. It's expensive upfront but for how much I use it, it's well worth.
I ended up with the Logitech k98m alto mechanical from jb Hifi for $129 minus 10%
So far I’m happy with it. It has a few programmable keys and an ai key
Only thing missing is the Touch ID but I think that’s exclusive to Apple keyboards
One of the best keyboards I've used apart from mechanical ones.
The s key is probably failing as I've noticed it doesn't register sometimes, but I've had this for 3 years so towards end of its life.
FFS, I bought one off Dick Smith on eBay yesterday for $145 because Amazon had actually crept the price up to $150-something.
Have just cancelled my eBay order and I'll go down to OW for them to price beat Amazon.
Does this come with the wrist rest, or is that separate?
Separate. I've only ever seen the wrist rest bundled in with the keyboard/mouse combo.
I have the original mx keyboard, had it 2 years, best ive ever used/
I have the mini version and absolutely love it
Please NOTE: while using this keyboard for work is good, I would not recommend to use it for home gaming PC. The main reason is that key plastic cover easily peels off if you press same buttons often. Should not be the problem if you just type texts. For gaming I recommend to go with much more durable G915X.
Would recommend just avoiding Logitech G keyboards entirely…
I've been using mine for some gaming, and no trouble there, but I don't play MMOs or FPS that need lots of key presses. Mostly strategy or slower RPGs like Fallout.
Genuine question: Was looking for MX during Covid but ended up with K780 which I love and working well. Is MX much of an upgrade?
I would only use it for work (reports, systems, Excel, Presentations etc.), not for coding or gaming. I only work in sufficiently lit space so backlighting is not important either.
If you're near a JB Hi Fi they should have stock on the floor for you to try. I personally didn't like the feel K780, but it comes down to what you prefer. The MX Keys also has shortcuts for calculator and screenshot that I use all the time.
Though I have the old version of the MX Keys.
Thank you. I quite like the feel of K780. The flat keys feel the same as Logitech Combo cases for iPads and the base is useful for keeping the additional devices like iPads/Phone while working. I might just wait for the K780 to die.
When I use the calculator button it always opens behind all my other windows so I have to go clicking around to get to it. I stopped using it because it was quicker to click the shortcut in the taskbar and have it open in the foreground.
Happens on every machine I’ve used it with
Workaround to get calculator to open in the foreground, reassign the calculator key to "Open application" and point it to the calculator executable (C:\Windows\System32\calc.exe).
Huge fan of this keyboard, however just note that the layout for this one isn't the best and they do come in better layouts, this one has those extra keys near the shift etc.
Pictures show UK layout, not sure if actual UK layout as they often use stock photos.
The white one shows US layout.
strangely the white option on amazon has the normal layout and the grey one has the weird keys.
Agreed tbh, the F keys aren't easy to use. Love the keyboard still.
Why is everyone down voting genuine negative feedback from the people who actually own this board?
It's not like I even said I hated the keyboard haha I just wanted to point out that it might be the UK layout :(
Great pick up.
Can anyone who has ordered the grey tell us what layout they got?
Mine just arrived & it's the standard ANSI keyboard - NOT the ISO L-shape Enter key in the photos. I was a bit wary until I checked the model number in the Amazon listing and it was the ANSI model-code.
I got the original MX keyboard from my work during COVID. Left for another employer and ended up keeping it. Happy days!
I’ve had my Mac version for quite a few years, used daily for work. The cover for the cmd key has finally started scratching off. Otherwise, absolutely love it. Has a laptop feel, so not very deep keys.
Its ability to switch between devices automatically at edge of screen is pretty nifty too.
I have this plus a M720 Triathlon mouse for my home PC and office laptop set up, so I can quickly change between machines with the same set of keyboard and mice. Also, given that both are BT compatible, no dongle required on the laptop and only one unifying dongle on the PC! The keyboard does great for light gaming too.
White version is $127
I have had this for just over 12 months and love it but…
If you put it in a backpack for work etc - high likelihood you’ll snap the scissor hinges on some of the keys (I’ve just lost the 2nd!) and replacements aren’t available from Logi - you need to go 3rd party and some are pretty expen$ive!
Wish id grabbed a hard case or similar cause it would’ve saved me the cost of replacements.
Lol I was wondering why there was such a market for hard cases for these
Yes this really is a thing, on my 3rd keyboard at work, one of the hidden downsides of a clean desk policy and having to put your keyboard in your locker every day.
Has anyone ever got Officeworks to price beat Amazon? I always get the they can't because it's a subscription.
They include shipping when they price match so if it's below the free shipping $ value and you try say it's X price with free shipping, then they're technically correct because the free shipping is only because of your prime subscription.
This is over the min spend for free shipping without prime so should be no issue
Yep did it last night no issues, even as a Prime member so no additional delivery fee added. Paid $120
If anyone has Amazon Business you get an extra 20% off at checkout bringing it down to $103.20
The 20% off (up to max of $75) is an offer valid for me until 1 Jan 2027, so if it's the same for others it may be worth using it on something that costs at least $375 to maximise the saving.
I used the code already and still available for me to use for other items.
Maybe I've got a different one as it says "on your next order" for me
Had the original MX for a few years, but in the end my E key kept popping off. Bought this version recently, within a month of use, my backspace button squeaks each time I use it, incredibly annoying considering its brand new. Anyone know how to fix this? I'm afraid of breaking something or making it worse considering the cost of it
Surprised at the weight and quality of this keyboard. It was lagging a bit when typing but didn't test too much but as long as I sort that it's very nice.
Looking for recommendation for a decent heavy office keyboard. Besides this keyboard, which mechanical keyboard would you all recommend?
IBM Model M
How does this compare to the 'Logitech G G515 Lightspeed TKL Wireless Gaming Keyboard' @ $139?
missed the deal.
