OR you can use the HDO Box App on your google/andriod TV and get it for 100% off

    • +7

Or you can use Real debrid and get 4k bluray quality for less than HBO Max and watch it the way it was intended with the am6b+ with avdvplus coreelec like I do.

      • Any guides on how to do this?

        • +1

What part do you want a guide for?

@HaydosK: Making it work on Apple TV.

            • @Captain Yobbo: Yeah that can be tricky because apple is more locked down but I think there are some more options now. On android stremio has been the go to for a long time but I think its only recently come to apple tv but I don't actually have one so I can't say if it works well on Apple TV. There are some others I can see on reddit but I have no idea if they are good. https://www.reddit.com/r/RealDebrid/s/74A92QGa8V

            • +1

@Captain Yobbo: Also real debrid is like a rented server that downloads and streams torrents and you need another program to integrate it with. That's why there are different options

            • +1

@Captain Yobbo: UHF app runs fine for me on my Apple TV. I subscribe to Strong8k with EPGenius.org and MyEpg.tv for programming guides

google stremio, torrentio. changed my life. I can watch anything for $3 a month

          • @killingtime: Does that include live sports, NRL games?

            • @SGE980: For live things there's iptv services. The is non live but the Catalog is huge

      • Just be aware it does shut down everyone and then and you will be constantly tinkering to get it right

        • What do you mean by "shut down everyone" also I haven't had to constantly tinker with my setup to get it right. Real debrid is as easy as it gets and the coreelec part I haven't touched in months.

          • @HaydosK: My guess is a typo 'every now and then', which it does occasionally.

            • @Skinnerr: Does it? I only remember it happening one time and it went for a day and they gave everyone 3 free days.

              • @HaydosK: Yeah it's rare but it's not certain weather it's RD or stremio. I disagree with him saying the 'constant tinkering' tho. I tried kodi and that was constant tinkering, stremio and RB17 have been a godsend.

                • @Skinnerr: Oh that makes more sense. They were definitely talking about Torrentio going down. I use coreelec kodi and umbrella/fen light and literally never had a single hiccup. I'm not even sure how Kodi is constant tinkering because I haven't changed a setting in months. I just select the show I want and it plays. The only thing I change is the dolby vision settings but that's because new coreelec fork updates introduce new options which is cool and you don't even have to update if you don't want to.

                • @Skinnerr: I don't stream or use android for this stuff but what is rb17

      • Note the amb6b+ is a pain to get working.

Might be better off with the NVidia shield for something like that.

        • It's not as simple as the shield but I really don't like the shield. I just feel it's quite overpriced and it doesn't give you the same features as the am6b+ with coreelec. I think most people only need a Google streamer for example or If they need lossless passthrough I think there are some other way cheaper boxes that have that also like the mi boxes I think?

      • Also rb17 app on fire stick for free world sports. No more $30 p/m to newscorp!

      • how does this help pay the creators of the shows

        • It doesn't but there isn't a convenient legal way to watch 4k Blu-ray quality movies. I buy the disc for the movies I like.

    • How is HDO Box different from Stremio or are they fundamentally the same?

      • similar but you dont need to add repos to it for it work

    • Ehat the HDO app cant find it on my google play store?

      • +1

look for the github page on google

Thanks for the tip. They just offered me $5.99 for three months.

I had it for 2 months and there was absolutely crap on it. Got a full refund!

I mean HBO is known for their quality so I'm a bit surprised. Maybe they just weren't your thing. Quality over quantity.

      • +1

The content was great….5-10 years ago. Quality is good, if its regular.
Although the same could be said for Disney+, Apple TV and Paramount+
You could probably sub 3 times a year and get the same content to watch as someone who subbed for a whole year.

        • I agree, there really is no need to subscribe to most of these streaming services 365 days, just activate for a month when you know there is something you want to watch, and immediately hit cancel, you'll still have it for active for the month and you don't need to remember to cancel again before you're billed another month.

      • Well i don’t usually buy things for other peoples pleasure. If Netflix is 8/10, HBO was 3/10, for my viewing pleasure :)

        • I didn't say you had to like it. Just said it was surprising. They have a smaller range so if they didn't have the stuff you liked I can see why you would come to that conclusion.

          • @HaydosK: I didn’t say you told me to like it.

Also, at the time HBO Australia’s content was very small and lacked substance, this was even explained by the customer service person I was dealing with.

            • @BatmanAU: Ah that might explain it. Never actually used the service I just thought it would have all their stuff.

    • +1

      The Sopranos!?

    • Much more choice when using a VPN for US location.

Highly recommend Common Side Effects and Scavenger Reign that I discovered recently

    • +2

Do you subscribe to streaming platforms before knowing what they have?

      • When I joined up for the 12 month deal, you couldn’t go through their whole library, they just had a short list on their website, which were 50/50 good and bad but probably out of a list of 30 or so, so yeah I did.

        • oh I see that makes sense

  • Thanks, just claimed it

Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free!

$17.49 for premium for 3 months, no thanks.

But thanks for the reminder to cancel, just saved $21.99!

    • same offer lol

    • Same offer here, just continued to cancel, haven't been watching HBO recently anyway.

    • Same … might have taken the 7.99 Standard or 10.99 premium … but 17.49 is over my limit.

  • lol why pay money for this crap when you can just get it for free

  • Thank you. Right after 3 months expired post Black Friday!

  • Worked perfectly. Just finished Last of Us and Peacemaker but there are plenty more on my list.

  • Thank you, claimed it as well, been meaning to cancel but will hang onto a few more months.

  • Also free if you have a foxtel package

  • The advertisements are so freaking annoying on HBO (and I guess any ad-supported cheap-plan streaming service). Watching through apple tv, you can sometimes fast-forward some of the extended ad blocks by using the iphone as a remote.

As bad as foxtel was, I'd happily go back now to that single provider model where you can get all the sporting codes, movies, and most tv shows ad-free.

    • I cancelled because of the advertisements on standard. Obnoxious.

      • Like all of these streaming services if you pay for their bottom-tier "ad-supported" package.
I've never paid for YouTube, but their ads are every few minutes now, just ridiculous, but I refuse to pay for that one, so it is what it is :/

        • HBO Max is definitely the worst. I've got base tier Prime and its not too bad. HBO felt like 5min of ads every 30min.

  • I cancelled a week ago and got sweet FA.

It's been good but not worth continuing at full price IMO

  • Went the Argentinian route during the original deal. Good till May.

  • I was on yearly and saved about $40 for the year.

  • Any good shows on hbo? I’ve never tried it before.

  • Customer bait offer, so you forget and eventually pay full price.

    • reminders as soon as you start any sub works wonders

  • thanks op!

i am surprised at how little there is on hbo that i want to watch given they historically made great shows.

but mum wanted me to keep it a little longer, so very happy with another $18 but 3 months

  • +1

Awesome, annual renewal price just went down from $120 per year to $79. Definitely happy with $6.50 a month! Thanks

    • Oooooh how did you get that?

      • Hit cancel with a month or two to go in our annual plan, and got the discount offer.

  • Thanks! Just renewed for another 3 months after the initial Black Friday offer.

  • I was offered just now $119 for the annual subscription when I went to cancel
