Its not an all time low, but still about $100 cheaper than AUD Stock, im pretty sure it could be purchased with some aliexpress codes to drop it further, but AUAF10 Worked for me to bring it down to $285.91

If it's primarily for gaming the 7400F is ~160 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008647764922.html

Solid price for a good steam box build.

        How about comparing against 7800X3D?

        • +3

different league. 6 cores vs 8 cores and the huge cache on the 7800x3d means it'll blow it out of the water on CPU intensive games (dragons dogma, space marine 2, etc. etc. games that rely on the CPU for heavy simulation loads).

the 7700 is sort of in between, still doesn't have that L3 cache that the 7800x3d has (32MB vs 96MB) but it does have 8 cores which can be utilized by some games.

I'd personally still be going the 7700 but depends on how cheap you want to get.

  • Is it reasonable to expect more CPU sales a bit later down the line given the current state of things in the PC hardware space? Thinking of pulling the trigger on an 5700X to upgrade my AM4 build, have seen it go down to ~$100 AUD on sale but that was back in August last year.
Currently on Aliexpress it's sitting at $200

as much as im hoping that the rampocalypse will force mobo's/cpu's to drop in price to make them interesting to buyers, i fear that they will instead be pulled up in price cause of ram being so crazy, at 20% increase on cpus and motherboard wont look as bad

Mate I've been watching the 5700x pretty closely, pretty sure we missed the boat.

      • Ended up buying it anyway from Aliexpress anyway since I needed it - hoping for my sanity sake I don't see it on sale in the next couple of days lol

        • Ha, comments like these are testing fate. Remember that last deal back in August last year? Yeah well…

Bought 1 of these CPUs off AliExpress in June last year for around $200 delivered. I left it too late to build a system now that ram is 4x what it was. Don't even know if the CPU works yet lol.

I got my R7 7700 at the same time for $212 delivered.
I'm super happy with it it's a great processor. Luckily I got ram at the same time with 32gb cl30 6000 for $160. Ram prices are wild right now.
