  • Guessing an active ubank account won't count for 'active customer'?

    • meh if was velocity i would have gone for it o well.

    • Need to apply via the NAB app or Internet Banking, so I guess you are right.

    • just open a nab account

  • I'm trying to work out why I wouldn't do this. I'm an existing NAB low fee VISA card holder and will easily spend $1,500 in 90 days. Any reason why they wouldn't allow a second card of the same type? Assume I could close one down within the first 12 months to avoid paying duplicate yearly fees. Seems like $350 for free?

    • Yep, same here.

      • Has anyone tried? An existing Low Rate Card applying for this promo (Low Fee card).

        • can someone confirm this? Thanks

    • I'm in the same boat. I have the low rate card with annual fee waived for life, wondering if i can apply for this while keeping the other open.

      • How did you manage to get the annual fee waived for life? Was there a specific promotion?

        • Its not a rewards card, so it's not a big deal. If you want one, just find any other card that is no annual fee and you'll essentially be getting the same thing

        • There was a promo in 2024, annual fee waived for life (might have just been existing NAB customers?) + $300 cashback

    • I couldn't find anything related to a cooling period. I have an Everyday account with NAB, just applied an hour back and was approved immediately.

    • Did you get an answer on this? T&Cs don't seem to mention anything..

  • No cooldown required? Can't someone just keep opening low rate, get cashback, close it off and repeat? NAB is smarter than that having moved to 24 months on the rewards credit cards so whats the catch here…

      • Why is it better? Once I make $1.5k spend I close off the card and get a new one. So with $3k spend I can get $700 back which is better than ANZ.

        • $450 is better than $300. you redoing it twice to make $700, apples and oranges.

          • @RTX9090Ti: $450 cashback with $4500 spend

Did you literally compare the two and said ANZ is better than NAB deal, then backflip and said it is not comparable like apples and oranges LOL

EDIT: NAB pay out cashback on the 6th statement so you'll need to hold onto it for a while even after meeting spend requirements. However, it doesn't mean you can't open another one, but you'll be at the mercy of NAB whether they let you.

            • @CodeXD: What you are saying is applicable for the NAB Low Rate Credit Card: $400 Cash Back with $5,000 Spend in 150 Days, $59 Annual Fee @ NAB. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/943407

This is NAB Low Fee Credit Card and should be good for cashback by the 4th statement.

              • @rickyji: I actually got email this week
                $59 Annual Fee @ NAB.

My NAB Low Rate Credit Card is being Bumped up to $99 from April

In exchange for Mobile Phone insurance that i never wanted :(

                What's changing?
The annual Credit Card fee will increase from $59 to $99. If you’re on a package that has your annual card fee waived, the fee will continue to be waived. Fees may apply, when or if, your package ends. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of your package for full details.
Complimentary Mobile Phone Insurance1 will be added. Your eligible mobile phone will be covered for accidental damage and theft, when you pay your monthly mobile bill using your NAB Low Rate Credit Card.

      • Why not both? But also ANZ is a pain in the dick to sign up. Alot of extra hoops they make you jump through.

    • They don't need to give you a reason. They clearly didn't think you could afford more credit.

    • Idk why you get negged, but i assume you're churner, aren't you?

      • Got negged because s/he negged this post in the first place, which I think it's not really fair reason for neg vote

      • Serial churner here.

Although I reduced my churning frequency to 6 months or longer, it seems any cards where NAB is the credit provider will get rejected if their AI / algorithm detects you have had too many card applications in the last 12 months.

They don't care how good your credit score is and the fact that you have made all repayments on time, the profile they have gleaned from your credit history is that you are a churner, and hence will just be a loss to their business. Application rejected.

        • Although I reduced my churning frequency to 6 months or longer, it seems any cards where NAB is the credit provider will get rejected if their AI / algorithm detects you have had too many card applications in the last 12 months.

Nice assumption but that hasn't been my experience at all.

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: That's been my experience ever since I closed my first NAB card one month after my bonus points came through.

No issues with CBA, Westpac or ANZ since then.

When I applied for a BOQ rewards card last year (where NAB is the credit provider) with the min credit limit ($4K), same vague rejection reason.
Maybe I should significantly understate the amount held in savings.

            • @DoctorCalculon: Not implying your experience is invalid but just to give another perspective. In the past 12 months I've had NAB Qantas Rewards, NAB Rewards (Velocity), humm90, Westpac Qantas (last month) and most recently this card was approved last month too. So I think there could be another variable in the equation.

              • @foxes28: Thanks for the reply.

It is mainly NAB credit cards I am have had issues with.

Just out of your curiosity, do you have a home loan? I am starting to think whether this may be an issue with NAB, and hence the question.

  • I am an NAB Equity Builder customer so I assume this might count as existing? They did recently make me call the main NAB line for KYC..

    • Log into the NAB app or Internet Banking (using your NAB ID tied to the Equity Builder) and navigate to Products > Credit Cards. Check if you are able to see the $350 offer pre-loaded or personalized for you when applying for a new Low Fee Card.

  • I was just notified by NAB that the Low Rate Credit Card annual fee is increasing from $30 to $49

    • Yes you are right. From 27 April 2026, the annual card fee will increase from $30 to $49 p.a. $30 p.a. But it's $0 for existing customers.

      • So if i join today and open a transaction account and apply for this offer after successfully opening the account, will i be treated as an existing customer?

        • I would imagine it is existing customer at the time the promotion was launched, but happy to be proven wrong

      • Do you have a mortgage with them? It's waived when you have a mortgage with NAB. I left NAB for my mortgage and now on renewal my credit card will have an annual fee again.

  • Puffinfresh, to complete your application, we need some extra information
Check your email for details on the types of information we may need, how to provide it, and next steps.

    The email:

    Hi Puffinfresh,
Thanks for choosing NAB for your new credit card. We have approved your application and are excited to offer you a NAB Low Fee account. Your NAB credit card should arrive in the next week.

    • Same thing happened with me and I was able to add the card to 'Google Pay'

      • @rickyji and after you add the card to google pay can we use it to pay something through BPAY?

    • They didn't ask for any financial information from you to approve the credit card? Do you know why?

Wondering if it is your existing NAB accounts show regular income or something like that?

I'm keen to get a credit card for my 18 year old nephew who is at Uni and without a job. Any suggestions from anyone please?

      • Do you know why?

For obvious reasons, credit providers do not share information about credit criteria.

I'm keen to get a credit card for my 18 year old nephew

In your name? Sounds risky. You will never get that money back.

at Uni and without a job

They can use a debit card.

        • Thanks for your reply.

Actually we want him to get a credit card in his name so that he can build a credit score by the time he finishes uni. He did do tutoring for cash in hand, and that's it, therefore he had no payslips.

Any ideas on how he can get approved?

          • @d123:

Actually we want him to get a credit card in his name

Then they will get the card, not you on their behalf.

so that he can build a credit score by the time he finishes uni

That isn't required in Australia. Everyone starts with a good rating.

He did do tutoring for cash in hand, and that's it, therefore he had no payslips.

They should pay tax, like other good citizens.

Any ideas on how he can get approved?

I think you know the answer to that. There are no tricks.

          • @d123: There is no such thing that "build a credit score" by applying for loan/credit card in Australia. You have no debt history, you are good to apply for loan later (provided you have a stable income).

  • Fortunately I'm the EXISTING CUSTOMER.

    Thanks OP, applied.

  • Targeted, existing customer but have this

$400 cashback, plus no annual fee for the first year

$400 cashback when you spend $5,000 on purchases within 150 days from account opening.

Enjoy no annual card fee for the first year (fee reverts to $59 in year two).

    • This has already been posted
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/943407

      • hmm i have the $400 cashback when you spend $5,000.

wonder if i can apply for this card.

        • That's NAB Low Rate Credit Card, this is NAB Low Fee Credit Card.

          • @rickyji: Correct scroll down one more card after that $400 and youll see $350

    • Me too, but can see the OP offer on low fees cc.

      • Same, I already have the $400 cashback on $5000 spend
I should be able to apply for the low fee card too?

        • Still eligible for this if already have the $400 cashback on $5000 spend?

    • I also see this when I was trying to apply.

But not a fan of being churned to spend 5k in short period for only $50 more, but off-tracking my spending habits.

      Will stick with this offer.

    • I have that $400 offer in the NAB app but I also have the $350 when I scroll to the bottom.

  • What's the time period for new application before last having held the same nab low rate cc?

  • good to double dip with the existing 0% for 28 months with a 2% BT fee offer.

    • i could only see 0% for 12 months. 3% fee

Fill in the form once the nab credit card account is open and active

      • ignore BT offer while doing cashback (purchase), they won't stack

        • It definitely stack - got the cashback on my cc account !

          • @parisian: ok hope lucky no interest on 2nd statement:

Interest free days on purchases applies if you pay your account in full by the due date each month. If you have a balance transfer, then you must pay the ‘interest free days payment’ listed on your statement in full, by the due date each month.

            • @test8888: No interest as long as you pay back everything charged to the card for the previous statement.

  • i just got their qantas signature card.
can i apply for this as well too? lol

    • Same boat. Applied anyway.

      • nice let us know how you go?

i might use this deal in June when i have to pay my council bill for the year

    • Me too 😂

  • Any qualifiers on 'existing customer'? i.e. Any reason signing up for a nab bank account now, and then going for this credit card wouldn't work?

    • no i did this with no issue. apply for their free savings debit card account to be a "existing customer" and then 30 minutes later i applied for the qantas signature promo for "existing customer" with no issue

      • Cheers

    • The bankers are having Friday shinanigans. $350? Just happens to be the same amount as what a bag of “snow” costs.

    • offering a better bonus to loyal existing customers

It costs them more money to verify a new sign-up.

  • is it a NAB Low Fee Card or NAB Low Rate Card?

    • Updated: NAB Low Fee Credit Card

  • i was instantly approved (existing customer)

    • Can you activate a digital card or do you have to wait for a physical card?

      • Yes, I added it to Google pay successfully

        • Can't add it to PayPal without the physical card yea?

      • yep added to apple wallet already

  • I signed up for one of these in November last year when they were offering $200, seems like you get paid out after 120 days so i am still waiting on receiving it, however i did receive an email just this week informing me the $30 annual fee was already increasing to $49. So be careful when signing up to read the fine print because it seems like they change the annual fee after you sign up.

    • yeah its annoying having to wait for this cashback. i'm on the qantas signature, spent 15k and now i have to wait 90 days or whatever to get the cashback grrr

  • getting "an unexpected error occurred" error when finalising the application. ozbargained?

    • I got the same. Try logging in via NAB App-> Go to 'Applications'-> Click on Recent Application-> Resume Application

      • already tried that twice

  • Nice, instantly approved (existing customer) and added to Apple wallet :)

    • That's great. I've applied too as an existing customer but I have to wait a bit longer. We will assign a dedicated Case manager within five business days who may contact you to verify some details about your application. I am wondering if I did it incorrectly

      • I did apply for a different NAB credit card about 7 months ago so perhaps my details were fresh enough (and consistent enough) for their system to grant instant approval. Compared to say just being an everyday banking customer applying for your first credit card with them (and having to provide payslips/other evidence). They would no doubt have a bunch of other flags on various data points too. If you've got steady income as an employee, and not too much debt (including credit card limits even if unused), I am sure you will get approved :)

  • I already have a nab qantas card and got points paid out last year. Still hold that card.

Am I still eligible? Was not able to find a clear answer online.

    • Log into the NAB app or Internet Banking and navigate to Products > Credit Cards. Check if you are able to see the $350 offer pre-loaded or personalized for you when applying for a new Low Fee Card.

      • Yes I see it available to me. Hard to know whether they will honour it.

  • Instantly pre-approved (existing customer) just need to send payslips again for some reason

Applied with a targeted offer of $400 cashback on $5000 spend over 150 days

    • That's NAB Low Rate Credit Card, this is NAB Low Fee Credit Card.

      • Ah my bad, still $0 annual fee. Wonder if I could open both haha
