    I’ve owned this scooter for 15 months, and it’s honestly the best scooter I’ve ever owned or used.

    Genuine replacement parts easy to get (AliExpress), and self-install (clear manufacturer videos), Good service network; Well built, and the unit takes a beating and keeps on ticking.

    And also legal in Australia (as long as you don’t apply a 3rd country location software override with a VPN).

    And $1399 is an insane price, and the OP is right that it’s never been that low in Australia; and you can price match it under 99 Bikes’ Price Match Guarantee ($5 to join if not a member), that will get you another $70 off the Costco price.

                  @Poor Ass: I wrote that their terms and conditions weren't clear and I just asked if they had confirmed that they do match Costco. They don't. You have to sign up to Costco to get this deal. They wasted my time and money so thanks a lot to them. Also I tried to ask the terrible 99 bikes chat bot which is just a stupid ai chatbot that knowns nothing and they thought that I was trying to use it to find an answer when I was just trying to talk to a real person which it can't do like other sites.

      Missed some things about the scooter, which I can’t add to the original reply now.

      First, I’ve done almost 5,000 on mine.

      It does have some flaws to be aware of, specifically:

      • short air stems on the tyres meaning you’ll need a decent small air pump to refill the tyres (no petrol station pumps if you’re on the move) - but luckily have never needed to check for air on the go.
      • early units had issues with staying connected on Bluetooth (needed to unplug a cable in the stem and reconnect).
      • the big one to be aware of are the screws in the stem. These are only M3 screws, and they use a crap locking tape on them combined with what seems to be poorer strength metal. With heavy use, especially on bumpy paths and such, these screws will loosen over time. Strongly recommend you a) get a much better thread locker for the screws (Loctite 243 from Bunnings and other stores), and b) ensure the screws are checked and tightened at least every couple of weeks (presuming 100km/wk usage).

      If you fail to check these screws, you’ll start to feel the up and down wobble in your handlebars, and you don’t want those screws to fail when you’re going at 25kph.

        Not the software, just the location the software of the scooter believes it in.

        It’s how most manufacturers can reduce their costs by not having to build multiple variants to cater for different countries and their speed restriction laws.

    I've been looking at e-bikes where 110Nm is a lot.

    It's supposed to be able to climb a 25% incline.

      Don’t know enough about motor torque to answer that question as an owner (and that info isn’t on the spec sheet), but it has no problems climbing steep hills.

      Have happily taken it up Mount Street in Perth, and whilst it won’t hit max speed obviously I could get up it without stopping.

      That's insane if it is real. It would fly up the hill. My e-bike has 60nm of torque and it's plenty to get up hills with light pedalling. I'm using it more than my car for short local trips now.

    Do people hack these to get HACKJOB ? They way the test them it would be easy to find out your going too fast anyway. Be cool if there was a secret switch in case you got pulled over but i guess it doesn't prevent speed cameras tho suppose.

      With virtually all the scooters from Segway since the release of the ZT3, any ‘hacks’ can be done in software and are easily reversible with no effort.

      Some of the firmware methods (and I won’t say which), can even be flicked back in the moment with a custom sequence of button or brake lever actions.

      It also leaves no physical evidence that you’ve modified your scooter.

      Note: I don’t advocate any of the methods that are available, or that you should even be doing it.

      There are risks from hardware and software modifications to remove speed restrictions, and we’ve seen enough stories of people being seriously injured by or when on scooters.

      I also know of a case from Melbourne (can’t find the case reference right now) that happened over five years ago - where someone on an e-bike who’d similarly tampered with and removed the speed limits on it; killing the pedestrian in the process. The moment VicPol worked out the speed of the accident, and discovered the modification - his charges were significantly upgraded, and I understand there was also a seperate civil matter from the victims family seeking significant compensation.

      So if you are thinking about removing the speed limitations - take a deep breath, consider if you should even do it on a scooter being used in public, and reflect on the possible consequences that could happen when something goes wrong.

        Rare case and only idiots ride fast enuf to kill someone. I have a max scooter that I moded to go 32km/h (update the serial via app). Got stopped by cops one day at booze bus. The cop check my scooter but couldn’t prove anything and I was on my way. Most will go over the 25km limit down hill anyways

    Ive been riding a segway ninebot D18U to work for the last couple of years and the only thing I don't like about it is the lack of acceleration. This could be down to my weight ~100kg and the size of the motor. If I am going up a slight incline or into a wind it really struggles guessing this wouldn't have a problem. I've also been having the loose bolt problem as mentioned by someone else.
