For desk use, get the Adam D3V for $459 instead.

I bought these from StoreDJ during Black Friday and returned them.
They have a built-in low-pass filter that cannot be disabled. At low volumes (<25%) it completely cuts out the treble, resulting in a muffled sound. This is a problem for every single D3V, and when customers contacted Adam about it, Adam insist that it's not a problem and have no intention of fixing it.
      Clown company.

The solution was just a Google search away. It was a commonly known issue and an easy fix. I'm extremely happy with them and can't see myself wanting to upgrade for a long time. Haven't picked up my Edition XS or HD6xx since I got them.

        • Meanwhile if you did actual research, you would learn that this update changed virtually nothing, and the issue still persisted.

Continue trying to rationalize your investment at your leisure.

          • @SvcKpc: There is no need to rationalise my 'investment'. They sound absolutely fantastic to me and I'm sorry you weren't able to get the best out of them. Better luck next time I guess.

These are great, esp if you like the Q house sound or are too broke for LSXs, but I don’t think they ever sold for $999. Standard is $600-$650ish.

  • +3

@anarky - I agree that these probably aren't best suited for desktop use (the depth of the speakers being one thing).

That said, I'm guessing they are hard to beat in terms of sound quality and versatility for the price

    • These are great bookshelf speakers, no dispute there at all.

Was looking at these. Very decent speakers. But just ordered a pair of edifier m90, they seem to be selling them way under RRP prior to release for some reason… They have eARC, 100w, LDAC and sub out.

    • +3

Just saw that kind of a wild price for the M90 which I'd never heard of, they're an upgrade on M60's which I've had for 6 months, excellent for me. Previously was using larger bookshelf edifier speakers that took up far too much room. Saved some much needed desk space, they even come with little speaker stands to direct the audio up. Sound is very good.

M60s are getting rave reviews. Part of the reason I bought the m90s. M90 will be connected to tv via eARC,and connected to an sb1000 pro. I have edifier QR65 on my PC desk connected to a q acoustics 3060S. My wife has a pair of edifier as well! Can't fault them!

        • What would be the cheapest sub that would match well and compliment these?

          • +1

@woodencupboard: Absolute cheapest will be the edifier T5 sub. A step up from that is the audio engine S8 sub. Both good options for first time sub users.

    • Can you share any link(s)?

      I found the following for $159 + shipping (pre-order for 3/3/26): https://www.jw.com.au/product/edifier-m90-bi-amped-2-0-speak…

Yeah those are the ones. Make sure you get the right colour. Come in black or white. I got them from lwt systems for $152 including delivery. Lwt recently jacked up the price to 237. When these release they'll be over 500. Not sure why retailers are doing this. Lwt even confirmed via email that stock arrives end of Feb. I think JW is the cheapest now.

        • +1

Thanks - ordered ($175 all up). Found another seller at a similar price to LWT (~$235) so seems like a bargain!

          • @theMoebius: Bargain! Fingers crossed!!

            • +1

@ifreddo: I feel bad about hijacking the OP, particularly as I have a whole bunch of Q Acoustics speakers in the living room, but those looked a bit big for my desk

        • Just ordered as well. Hopefully I get two speakers and not just one.

          • @klunkeh: Lol. You'll be fine. They're reputable sellers. I'm more worried about them cancelling the orders. Let's see. Make sure you get a sub connected to those m90s. It adds a whole dimension to the sound and listening experience.

            • @ifreddo: haha cheers. Thinking the 3000 micro looks good, just need a good deal on one.

              • @klunkeh: Great sub and will pair well with the edifiers. They were around 1500 not too long ago. If you mostly listen to music, that's a great sub. If you want impact for movies, you might wanna look at something else.

      • +$5 off if you add to basket walk away, they'll email you a discount
Thanks, bought 20 sets from JW, buy the dip right? /s

        • +1

          Did you actually buy 20??

      • Wow this seems like an outstanding deal, might need to jump onto it, having been looking for desktop speakers for a while.

      • Bugger! Order refunded

Same - “no longer available from our supplier”

I did wonder after I noticed it removed from their website a couple of weeks ago

    • Thanks held off on the m60 because lack of sub out. M90 have fixed the issue.

  • Addicted don't deliver at my address. WTF?

  • Recieved this e-mail on Friday. Sad times :(
