Not the bestest of deals but can price match maybe with OW (if not then TGG who price matches even with Costco) and use 10% off GCs with Coles right now to something like $2999 x 0.95 x 0.90 = $2564.145

Last two M4 deals were the

M5 to be released any moment now

    • Base M5 is already out. 4th March for M5 Pro and M5 Max

      • +1

In other words, this is a fine machine still but if you want it cheaper wait until after the new one drops

        • Any idea on how much cheaper it would go?

          • +1

@DealHunter321: There were some decent discounts on the m2 and m3 machines when m4 came out. Of course since the base ram configuration changed it’s a bit hard to compare…
It was a decent deal either way especially on some of the bigger specs at OW.

        • It wont be cheaper, the other stuff will likely be more. These will quickly get superceded by the m5 models - just like how you dont see m3 outside of the refurb section occasionaly

  • 512GB seems way too small for a pro.

    • +1

Yeah! RAM and SSD prices are apple are trash.

I miss the days of user replaceable RAM and storage.

    • +1

Depends what you’re actually doing and how important it is that the storage is internal. Many people work off Thunderbolt drives, others might be doing things over network storage.

    • +1

Worked with a 512gb for 4 years, only occasional hdd cleaning needed. It's fine

    • Yep , despite current situation . 3 grand machine with 500gb is just criminal. Hell even 2t with 3000$ price tag is criminal in general , since the normal price for ssd is so cheap compare to apple . I know it is special time

New model about to arrive and with the Australian Dollar significantly up since last model launch, there should be a price drop. This model in US cost $1999, which is $2823 AUD. As US price doesn't include sales tax or GST, adjusting the price to include GST, comes in at $3105 AUD. I foresee the RRP dropping to either $3149 or $3199 (and obviously cheaper with Education discount)

    • +3

No way RRP goes down, at best they will stay the same

      • +1

They will anticipate a future ram and hdd massive spike, no way it will be a price jump for a likely temporary aud dollar being strongish

      • Apple are famous for adjusting their prices inline with US currency conversions. Not sure on the exact formula they use, but they largely try to keep prices roughly the same world wide.

In regards to RAM/SSD prices, Apple is one of the better shielded manufacturers as I think they do pay a premium already, but have cost certainty into their supplier contacts.

    https://emporiumelectronics.com.au/MX2E3X/A/ - M4 Pro MBP 24/512 ~ 2899 x 0.95 x 0.90 = $2436

Also anyone have any idea on how to get 2ish grand worth of gift cards? Saw the Coles deal but not sure how to go about buying the cards and redeeming ~ $2000+.

Also unrelated but if you don't need the GPU power of the M4 Pro, need a better battery + storage this seems like a good deal as well. (Went instore to OW they were happy to price beat) - OW Price Beat depends on the store

    https://emporiumelectronics.com.au/MDE64X/A/ -M5 MBP 24/1TB ~ 2799 x 0.95 x 0.9 = 2393

    https://emporiumelectronics.com.au/MDE04X/A/ -M5 MBP 16/512 ~ 2199 x 0.95 x 0.9 = 1880

https://www.centrecom.com.au/apple-mac - Great if a store is giving issues price beating on the M5 models.

    • @DealHunter321 Thank you for posting it. Can you please explain it 0.95 and 0.9 discount? Where to get it?

      • +2

try price beat at Officeworks for 0.95, than you buy Officeworks giftcards when they are 10% off, so you get 0.95 and 0.9

  • +1

GZ to those who got OW to price match Electronic Emporium when they had this for $2099

    • Anyone actually got the price beat?

      • Yes, I price matched with officeworks

        • for 2099$ i thought they wouldn't accept it because on Empourim electronics it said only for me on the photo 2099 but on the add to cart 2899$

So OW only pricebeated the image?

          • +2

@DealHunter321: When I pricematched both the image and actual price showed $2099

            • +1

@FusedMeme1: Till next time then. When I saw the deal i double checked the price when adding to cart it was 2899$ probaly i viewed when they were editing the listings.

I'm thinking of going in store to see if they price beat BHPHOTOVideo.com (American but prices can be listed in AUD) The OW PBG doesn't say anywhere that it needs to be in Australia and the staff at my local store are pretty chill. Will reply what happens when i get time to go in

    • Damn that an amazing deal. How long was the discount up for?

      • +1

        4 or 5 hours iirc.

        • Thanks mate. You gotta be quick. Dunno how people find these things.

          • +1

            @ColtNoir: Luck + checking often.

            • +2

@DealHunter321: I would not be surprised if some ozb have bots that check this on schedule and then whats app them when the price changes. I'm thinking camelx3 but for every website that sells the product you're after lol.

              • @Stefce: I remeber my friend had an extension he used when looking for this laptop and it showed Emporuim Electronics and i couldn't believe the prices till i went in store and they were happy to price beat.
A bot would be great but i think there is one i forgot the name but it starts with S. But it lacks stores.

  • M4 pro? Or just m4?

    • It says in the title m4 pro.

  • +4

Who'd have thought that in 2026 we'd consider paying $3K for a laptop with less than 32GB?

    • +1

Borderline the same for desktops too…

  • Tried to do price macth with JB Hifi, failed. They said Emporium Electronics is selling refurbished items :(

    • +3

Try a different sales rep or store. That person was just BSing, they do that all the time

      • +1

I've never understood why the reps care?

        • They don’t! Quite possibly they’ve hit their target and don’t need to sell anymore.

  • +1

Just a thought, but not all sales reps are on commission
