Thailand Island Recommendations

I want to go to an Island in Thailand for a couple of weeks this year. Ive been to Phuket & Samui, also BK, Chang Mai and Krabi.
Id like some recommendations for islands that have nice beaches, clear water, not heavily touristy but good markets, restaurants and things to visit. I am older so no interest in full moon parties, night clubs etc. I've read a bunch online looking for options but would like some recommendations from people who have been to good spots. Tks. -BMU

  • phi phi island

  • Ko lipe and Ko lanta were highlights from my Thailand island hopping trip pre covid, not sure what they are like now

    • Koh Lanta seems like a perfect fit. Koh Lipe could work but is a little more remote and expensive.

  • Koh Chang is very laid back, like Thailand 15 years ago. It's a bit harder to get to.

And Chanthaburi is a cool little town with a food market and modern roads and an awesome jungle waterfall an hour away that I didn't mind wandering around for 1-2 days, that's on the way to/from Koh Chang if you have time for a random extra stop.

  • Nothing sus about older solo Thailand travellers. Nothing at all.

    • PS. Travelling with my wife and adult daughter……very suss.

    • If your first thought is that then it probably says more about you than anything.

It's safe, easy to get around, still relatively cheap, culture, great food, and includes the most visited city in the world.
