Click 6-Outlet Tower Power Board with GaN PD45W USB Charger $20 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass) @ Bunnings Warehouse

800

I was browsing power boards at Bunnings and came across this one. I thought it was pretty good for $20; it is vertical (takes up less space), has 2 x USB-C and USB-A, and can do 45W PD, which will keep most laptops going or charge a MacBook Air or high-ish end phone at full speed.

It comes with a cover, which hides the cables. It has a button on top to switch it on/off.

The charge capabilities are basically:
1 USB-C only: up to 45 W
1 USB-C and either USB-A or the other USB-C: 30W PD (to USB-C 1) + 15 W (to USB-C 2 & USB-A).

Only one of the USB-C ports does PD, the other USB-C can do 5V 3A, just like the USB-A.

Not bad value for a local retailer and with Australian electrical safety certification.

or charge a MacBook or high-ish end phone at full speed

MBP takes 140W from a single USB-C port to charge at full speed. Kinda hard to find but they are out there.

Sorry, I meant to put MacBook Air. Corrected.

      • Looks like MBA supports up to about 70W.

The Macbook Air comes with a 30w power adapter in the box, so I don't understand what your concern is.

            @Mork: “Full speed”?

          • @Mork: If that's the case then I guess the Air doesn't charge at full speed when you use the adapter that comes with it. But looking at info available if you use an M series Air it can charge about 67W and if you have the M4 Air it can charge about 72W.

Bought one a few weeks ago for $10, different stores may have different clearance prices.

I thought it was a pop up tower.
I'd buy this instead Click Power Station with PD67W USB Charger and 15W Wireless Charger

      Different use cases tho

For those in Perth (according to the bunnings site at 2pm here), choices are:
    Midland
    Innaloo
    Maddington

i found the Click brand is unreliable

      my exp too

Yeah I got 2 of the click power cubes with USB-C PD, the PD negotiation bit can glitch and go out of whack whenever a new device is plugged into the USB port, or the 240v socket. They're collecting dust now, and I do not recommend them.

the PD negotiation bit can glitch and go out of whack whenever a new device is plugged into the USB port

That seems to happen on most multi port USB C chargers

Wut? I bought this on clearance for $10 at my local bunnings (West Gosford)

I'd avoid personally, I bought one of the other click gan chargers and it had terrible coil whine.

  • This is Bunnings, easy returns

I bought this one about 4 weeks ago for $10. The design flaw lies with the orientation of the power plugs going inwards. Most chunky plugs won't be able to be used.

    • It would be a bigger design flaw if they faced outward as you couldn't put the cover on.

      • The picture makes it look so much better than it is.

  • the lid seems to be useless as once you connect to any outlet in the board
you cannot put the lid back?

    • +1

You can put the lid back on.

    • Yeah, works fine. Even adaptors can fit under the lid.

The two holes look too small for 6 cables doesn't it? Maybe because I'm looking at like, a PC power cable.

        • If all the cables are fat, then that could be an issue. Obviously you don't have to have the cover on. But I was surprised that the power supply of my Google Nest Hub could comfortable fit under the cover.

          • @Make it so: Yeah other cables might be alright then. Was originally considering to replace my powerboard where my monitor/PC cables are and they're pretty girthy.

    Click is generally rubbish

  • ordered delivery with a couple other items (onepass) overnight, and this morning entire order/refunded/cancelled - anyone else have this issue?

  • Just be careful with multi port chargers, I've got some that will default to lower power just because a cable is plugged in, not even doing anything.
In my case a USB C PD and USB A where the USB C would revert to 5V only if you plugged in a USB A cable.

You also need to read the fine print carefully on exactly what ports output what power when. Plenty of 100W adaptors which are really only 25W + 25W + 25W + 25W.

This one at least specifically says:
    Multiple port OUTPUT:
    TYPE-CI+TYPE-C2/USB A: 30W+15W(45W max.)
    TYPE-C2+USB-A: 5V/3A(15W max.)
    TYPE-Cl+(TYPE-C2+USB-A): 30W+15W(45W max)
