  • PSA: Beware of fly by night companies. 10 year warranty means absolutely nothing once they "wind up" and start afresh. Once bitten twice shy.

    • Yeah, a lot of red flags here, albeit a compelling offering. It would be interesting to hear how Repex Energy address these concerns @SolarBatteryBargain

  • How on earth can they do a 5kw+40kwh offering for $6k, and pretty much everyone in Perth is doing just a 10kwh battery for $5k?

    • That doesn't sound right unless prices in Perth have increased significantly over the past few months.

    • I think you should probably do more homework.. Unless Perth is very different to Melbourne or Sydney…

  • Will there be any TCB or SB cashbacks with this deal?

  • Silly question, does this include solar panels too?

    • We can quote you for solar + battery.

  • Thanks Gemini

Here is an evaluation of Repex Energy based on your strict elimination strategy.
    Evaluation: Repex Energy
    Location: Unknown / Hidden.
Verdict: CRITICAL WARNING (Ghost Company / Zero Digital Footprint).

    1. Subcontractor Assessment: UNVERIFIABLE
Status: Impossible to verify (Red Flag).
The Evidence: My forensic search for "Repex Energy" across Australian business registries, solar industry databases, and recruitment platforms returned zero results.
No Job Ads: They are not advertising for staff (sales or electrical).
No Physical Address: There is no Google Maps pin or verifiable warehouse address associated with this name.
No History: The term "Repex" is an energy industry acronym for "Replacement Expenditure" (used in government grids), which makes it a clever name for a generic shell company to sound "official," but I cannot find a registered solar business trading under this specific name with a track record.

    2. Sockpuppet/Marketing Assessment: FAIL
    Status: Non-Existent.
    The Evidence:
No Reviews: There are no SolarQuotes reviews, no Google Reviews, and no ProductReview pages for "Repex Energy."
Ghost Website: The URL you provided (repexenergy.com.au) has no significant index presence in Google. This usually happens when a website is brand new (less than 30 days old) or has been de-indexed.

    3. Overall Recommendation
    EXTREME CAUTION / AVOID.
In the solar industry, a company with no reviews, no map location, and no digital history is statistically likely to be one of two things:
A "Phoenix" Company: A director from a failed company (that went bust owing warranty claims) has simply registered a new domain name to start selling again today without the baggage of the old name.
A Scam/Lead-Gen Site: A temporary site set up to collect deposits or sell leads to other companies.

    Advice:
Do not hand over a deposit to this entity unless they can prove they are a long-standing business (ask for their ABN and check how long it has been active). If the ABN is less than 2 years old, walk away.

    • Credential search.

      Executive Summary: Repex Energy Evaluation
Verdict: UNVERIFIED / HIGH RISK (Too New to Validate)
Repex Energy (The Trustee for Repex Energy Trust) is a "Newborn" company. My forensic check of their government registration reveals they are less than 3 months old.

Unlike the other companies we analyzed, Repex Energy has zero digital footprint or proven history of completed installations in Victoria.

      1. The "Age" Check: Fact-Checked
Verdict: WARNING - Brand New Entity.
ABN Registration: Their Australian Business Number (84 225 707 410) was only activated on December 15, 2025.
GST Registration: They only registered for GST on January 1, 2026.
Meaning: This business effectively did not exist before Christmas. If their website claims "years of experience," they are likely referring to the personal experience of the owner (who is currently anonymous in public records) or they are exaggerating.

      2. Digital Footprint & Reviews
Reviews: None found. Because they have been trading for only ~10 weeks, they have not accumulated any verified customer feedback on SolarQuotes, Google, or ProductReview.
Website: Their site (repexenergy.com.au) is so new that it hasn't even been fully indexed by search engines yet.

      3. Safety & Credential Audit
Because the entity is so new, I cannot verify their licenses.
Electrical License: I could not find a "Repex Energy" listed on the Energy Safe Victoria register (likely because they are either using a different name or subcontracting the license).
      Solar Accreditation: No history found.

      Recommendation
Do not be the "Guinea Pig".
Solar and Battery systems are complex, dangerous, and require long-term support (10+ years). A company that is only 10 weeks old cannot guarantee they will be around to honor a warranty next year.

      • Honestly feels like there should be a "VERY LIKELY SCAM" banner/warning at the top of posts like this, that @admin could put up when there's this kind of red flaging going on.

    • Great work !

    • This should be pinned at top. And let buyers decide appropriately.

    • Nice, what prompt did you use for this please?

      • Solar provider evaluation.
Note the previously used instruction as copied below. Use it to evaluate the company named 'XXX'.

"You previously found me a number of highly rated solar/battery installers in or around Burwood, VIC. Do this again but be careful to choose providers that do not sub contract and also be extra careful when searching recommendations because there are so many that are sockpuppetting - I want you to come up with a strategy to eliminate obvious sockpuppet marketing and sub contractors, execute this strategy and output in a list."

        • Analyse the company XXX and look for common trends in complaints and other points that show disatisfaction from customers. In particular, note any potentially illegal or dangerous practices that have been repeated

Revisiting company XXX, search for their relevant credentials to install hot water, solar, battery and air conditioning. Also find evidence of their claimed >15 years of service

  • Joined and posted previous deal for Solar Plus Energy in November (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/933511) which looks to be for the same system so seems this is a new company they've started up or the OP has left and started their own with the same products. Who knows, given what abadacus posted above it does seem like a risk.

Solar Plus Energy does seem to have favorable Google Reviews with a few terrible ones.

I don't feel like can you really trust a company that doesn't even have a website/digital presence these days though, should be one of the first things you do when you start up a company.

      • I stand corrected re the website. Guess the SEO hadn't updated when I tried to find them, or didn't look hard enough.

Wonder why they've started another business then given their at the same location selling the same things.

  • Expensive, thumbs down

  • alpha ess doesnt meet my expectation
request to install 10kw inverter and told 2*5kw will work same.
only 6kw/h can input to battery…. entirely mislead

  • Have had my Alpha system for 6 months now, 20kW. Works perfectly, no issues. Have it integrated with home assistant and evcc for excess charging to my Tesla etc

  • Do you offer solar installation? If so, what is the cost?

    • Yes, we can. It depends on your eligibility of solar vic rebate. Please go to our website or simply email us for further help.

  • ngl, this company seems suss af.

  • Just got quoted 5200 with 10Kw inverter from a local installer in Melbourne.

    • Can you please DM the details. TIA

    • Can you also share the details via DM?

    • Can you also DM me please. I'm looking to have a home battery. Thank you!

    • Me too please and thank you

    • Late to the party but can you also please DM me details? Thanks

  • Nominal vs. usable capacity makes a big difference.
40-50 kWh installed typically sits far above those figures, even after rebates.

I’d want the exact Alpha model numbers, total usable kWh, whether it’s AC or DC coupled, what rebates are assumed, and who the CEC-accredited installer is before calling this a deal.
