PEACE

Hi there.

Few months back when we launched Homsy for android a lot of you asked to let you guys know when iOS will be available, so here it is.

A deal celebrating iOS launch.

I am giving away a lifetime Pro version of Homsy - Home & Family Organizer, to my favorite community members.

You can get Pro for free - go to deal, sign in with the same account you use in the app, and enter the code "PEACE".

If you want to return the favor, I would be forever thankful if you could give the app a review.

I am also always open to feedback and suggestions.

  • I'm having trouble logging into the browser to redeem code. Nothing happens when I press to login with Google.. Have opened in Chrome and using desktop mode on my phone.

    • Can you try a different browser? Some users had this problem but it was fixed when switched browsers.

      • Tried in chrome and edge and same issue

        • +1

Should be fixed now, good people. Sorry for the inconvenience.

          • @ziggy bird: I keep getting the selected platform is invalid. When trying to use just the email option. This is on duckduckgo and chrome

          • @ziggy bird: verify it now works. Chrome.

      • +1

Also have the same problem. Seems like the Sign in with Google isnt linked

    • +1

Tried Safari and Edge same problem

    • +1

Same was happening for me, I just tried safari on my phone and the login prompt appeared for me.
Make you haven’t got any ad/script blockers running or anything when you do it.

Same code seems to be working for the habit tracking app Aura.

      • Where do you apply the code in the Aura Habit & Streak Tracker app?

When I click "Go Pro" it wants me to commit the $ but I can't see any field to enter the code into.

  • +2

A better calendar widget would be good, similar to TimeTree

    • +7

Dealbreaker for me unfortunately! Otherwise looks like a neat little app at a quick glance.

Another quick suggestion would be the abilty to recolour / rename the bin schedules ie. green for Bio (Vegetation) waste, red for general waste etc

    • +2

Thank you for the suggestion. Will look into them.

  • +7

Just as an FYI I had the same problem when using the Brave browser or Safari on my iPhone.
And then I read the message and the steps are,

    1) download the app from the App Store. By closing the login page in your browser you get to the main homepage where you can download the app.

    2) create your account within the app and just start up as a free member don’t use the pro screen prompt.

    3) once all this is complete go back to the promo code link in Oz bargain and here you can login with your user ID password successfully as your account has been created.

    4) entering peace in the promo code will then activate your subscription within the app and to confirm this I just did a pull down of the screen to do a refresh and successfully activated as pro

  • User not found when I login with my username and password in gethomesy.com

    • Same here. Created an account in the phone app. Trying to login on the "deal" page, getting "user not found".

Better widget would be good. I want to quickly click on an icon to load up shopping list, not have it load up the app main screen, then need to manually click on shopping list

    • +1

Agreed. A dedicated scrollable shopping list widget would be excellent

    • You can do this on the native Reminders app. I have a list for groceries, and then sections within that list for the different supermarkets.
List can be shared with family members, and it can be added as a widget as well.

  • +7

Scrolled all the way down and had no clue what it does and why people are joining— is it only because it’s a freebie?

    • +3

I didn't know what it was either so I clicked the link and read the first 5 words and now I know.

      • -1

I guess I’m just more cautious about clicking random links.

  • Unable to reset password with forgot password option.

  • +2

When you miss read the title as Horny thinking it is the new tinder app

  • Nice, does this support tablet mode? Would be good to use on a tablet around the house

    • home assistant person?

      • I'd like to implement hass

  • Does it support importing/displaying/updating shared Google calendars?

  • Does it have a meal planner feature? Like where you have a few saved go to meals and then you drag and drop or put them against specific days of the week. It Could integrate with the shopping list. Side note check out the shopping list app called Bring. Has a nice UI would be cool if yours could have an option to be either list like it is now or bigger buttons. Thanks for the code.

  • +4

I grabbed this last time, but a few things have stopped me using it much:
    - Shopping List Integration with Google Assistant
    - 2-way integration with Google Calendar. Currently it syncs from Google to Homsy, but events created in Homsy don't get pushed to Google Calendar
    - Ability to add, remove and rename Bins
    - Have Tasks, Chores and Moments also be able to create calendar events

  • +1

    FYI
Link in the app to rate on Apple Store goes to a different app.
The share button to add members of household doesn’t do anything.

  • +3

Noob question…If I get this App and the Pro version, do all others in my family need to get the Pro version too for them to have all the features?

  • can we buy from the app and use the code?

    • in app where can i see "deal, sign in with the same account you use in the app, and enter the code "PEACE".?
      thanks

  • Random issue but I've stopped receiving notifications from the app completely. I installed it when you posted about it last time. Any ideas on a fix?

  • Is this vastly superior to using Google notes (shared lists - shopping, meal plan, notes etc) and Google calendar? My energy/gas provider has its own app already so won't be syncing that info.

  • Not related to the iOS release but I've had this issue with the Android version on my Pixel 9 Pro where one chore is listed 4 times for some reason (one for each of us and one without anyone assigned to it) and it was created to be an anyone can do it chore. I've tried deleting the chore but it doesn't seem to delete it either and I'm the only one having this problem. The two other people who also are in the same household don't seem to have this duplication issue.

  • +1

Hey, yes there are some features to include, but nothing that prevents me from using the app.

Well done, I like the ux, and I can see a lot of potential with this.

One thing I’d like clarity on is your handling of private info and assurances on data. But all in all, I like it.

FYI I’m a cofounder of www.blockidentity.com and view everything through a privacy lens - others may not have as much of an issue :)

  • From all the comments, seems like this is more of a beta test then anything else.

    Am i wrong?

    • +1

A beta test assumes a later full price release. I would assume this is a full release with no later additional charges, but ongoing developmental improvements.

  • Thanks you 👍🏼

  • Thank you!

  • We use this and its great, just found the shopping list bit a bit annoying, Wife will add something that has a bit to much text, and I can't expand it to see what she wrote, just tick complete or untick

  • wifey and i have created accounts with Gmail address and shared the code from Settings > Manage household > invite members = "share this code with family members so they can join your household". But regardless of who shares the code, we cant find anywhere to enter it? Thought if we logged out there might somewhere at initial setup, but nothing. Any one found it? hope we are just blind.

    • Only way I figured it out is for one of you to leave the current (default) household and then you are able to join another with code.

      • ok ta, will dig further, as cant seem to find a 'leave' type option either!

  • Thanks for the code.
Suggestion for calendar, i can add events but only see events for a day.
On month page, i see only dots which days i have events, if i could see events on months page how apple calendar shows it would be great. Thanks.

I want to keep this calendar seperate for my kids activities, daycare, kindergarten, classes and appointments. So want to pivot away from apple calendar which already is cluttered with multiple things.

  • I shifted from Google Tasks to Tick Tick for shared reminders/to dos across the family. How does this compare for anyone who has used both?

  • Thanks Ziggy Bird. Some feedback for now:
    - Issue with Household Chore. I was able to add a new chore but it keeps coming back after deleting it.
    - Ability to customize Waste Collection with regards to color so as to not make it confusing. General waste for us is red bin while bio is green, etc.
    - Not sure the purpose for the Utilities other than pay bills. Do people usually do manual reads?
    - Probably set reminder for bills like credit card, utilities, buy now pay later - or being able to set recurring schedule when bills need to be paid

    • yes that chores bug is so annoying

  • Does each user need to have a license (ie enter the code), or only one for the whole household?

  • +2

I've downloaded the app and started using it. I think I will continue to use it going forward, but have a few suggestions/notes.

    • I concur with progneo about the bin colour/name changes. However I love the way that this is presented in the app for easy visibility.
    • I also don't understand the purpose of the meter reads. It would be good if it would show our daily usage, but I don't see that feature.
    • The meter read is illogical for water - it should be in KL not L.
    • The "share" feature should include a download link
    • The shopping list should hide ticked items by default

I'm liking the app and the concept so far, and I think with some further development it could become awesome. I'd like to see a web app as well, but understand the development time will start to add up.

  • +1

I downloaded and it looks great.

I’d like a function to put re-occurring things eg. If your child has swimming lessons on to be able to select the day and have that reoccurring.
Would be helpful as I’m always forgetting what day her tennis, swimming, library, gymnastics lessons are.

    Thanks

  • I’ve signed up through the iOS app but when trying to login to the webpage via this deal link above (using the same email in the iOS app), it says User not found.

There’s no other option to reset password or anything either.

    • You're not the only one. Same issue here.

  • Appreciate this OP! I will check it out and see how we go :)

  • Initial feedback

    • When signing up, iOS password manager screen doesn't come up, also no URL to match with your homepage (gethomsy.com)
    • When registering, there's no confirm password, so if I (profanity) up, I'm never logging back in

    Otherwise, app looks slick

  • -1

    Code isn't working

  • I was trying to use it. Love interface etc on android.
Cannot specify family events in calandar and select certain people in family.
Also main issue is no ongoing event. Like gym or sport every sat at 10am for these family members. Looked like you had to input each time.
Did email developer but didnt hear back.

Using familytools now, clunkier but does everything we need.

  • definitely need recurring task and integration with apple/IOS calendar before it will become useful at least for me (please also 2 way integration with the calendar).

  • The selected platform is invalid. Tried on ios devices ( Mac & iphone )

Righto, listen up, strap in. Rant incoming..

If you’re gonna cross-post on OzB, don't be a lazy bugger [or C!]. Convert the spelling to Aussie English: organiser, favourite, favour., and …. capitalize Android while you’re at it.

And what the hell are 'trash' and 'chores'? Around here, we take out the rubbish and do the housework. If you can’t be bothered to fix the Seppo-speak, don't bother posting. Absolute shocker, low-effort.

Next time give it a spell, ya Flog.

    • Nothing sh1ts me more than dubbed ads on tv

  • +2

idea: if we can add a photo/picture to the shopping list item. So hubby knows exactly what to buy

  • Just to note this alternative that seems similar has been posted

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/949636

  • Was already logged in and logged out after getting the user not found error when attempting to redeem the code.

attempted to forgot password and getting the same thing.

Now I cant even connect back to the app because I cant log in hahaha.

trying to use sign in with google OAuth and get "account already has a sign in associated with this address"

I work in DevOps if you need assistance on how to solve these backend problems lmao.

Otherwise great simple app, does what it says on the tin.

  • app is ready. Now I need a family

  • Suggestions:
    - Allow Bin Type/Color to be edited. Where I am, the General Waste bins are Red, Bio is Green, Paper/Plastic/Glass are combined and Yellow.

  • Found a quirky bug. First time using the app it says Hello [password] where instead of my username or email being shown their it shows my password I signed up with. Definitely no mistake made as I didn’t autofill and am IT security professional so stupidly meticulous and pedantic in setting up accounts.
