all my luggages have been clamp styles. zippers can be punctured by pens. this is how they smuggle drugs. even if you are completely innocent, mules will sneak them in a random luggage to be retrieved at the other side. it will be unfortunate for you if they somehow failed to retrieve it before its scanned and you get the blame.
its trivial to get keys for TSA approved locks, regardless whether zipper or clamp mechanism - at least drugs in a bag with broken zips has a 'been tampered' with defense

Surely it's not 4.5kg! One review says it weighs 2.6 which you think would be more like it…

Agee. I can't see the value of having a clamshell suitcase as carry on, they're better purposed fir checked luggage, where the hard case can better deal with the handling.
