the ev doesnt have distance charge

    • the ev doesnt have distance charge

      I thought EVs require charging.

Dang, I just booked a few days last week, if only these codes came earlier.

Some people have discovered free rentals direct from toyota with code HANDDRILL

    • Why is this getting negged? Is it a reference to stealing a car?

      • +3

        Yes. lol

40c per km seems kind of insane, is the daily rate significantly cheaper than the competition? Or are these specifically aimed at people who have a niche requirement to drive a hilux a very short distance

    • +1

must be aimed at people who need to do an "ikea run"

      • +1

Bunnings does this, it's often cheaper to book overnight then for 4 hours due to distance fees.

    • +1

      40c/km includes fuel

  • Doesn't allow stacking both promos.

    • Is this your first rental? It worked for me, Kinto app on iOS.

  • +2

I am getting "Sorry, that code was not found" error for both codes. Hmm

Edit: working now, just needed to enter it in "Promo" not "Vouchers"

Checked for an upcoming week when my car is going to undergo some repairs.

Drivemate is sooo much cheaper, even after these discount codes!

Drivemate includes generous distance allowances (more than 1200 k's for the duration I want). Whereas Kinto wants per KM as well, geez!

Also, drivemate's total price with insurance and KM's included, is cheaper than Kinto's booking price. And then they want you to pay more for the KM's you drive as well. Insane!

    • Better than Turo?

      • haven't checked Turo in detail but seems more expensive. Might be cheaper if you can get good codes/referrals

        Cheaper than Kinto though.

    • I seem to recall when I worked at Toyota that these were brand new dealer demos though, not dedicated kinto cars. Unless things have changed, it’s not really a fair comparison between a high KM rental car and a brand new demo.

Kinto is probably fairly suitable as a try before you buy thing depending on what cars are actually available.

      • yea still, I would think that your normal car rental places like budget, Avis, hertz etc would be able to provide you moderately used rental cars to assess something as a try before you buy, much cheaper than Kinto.

And none of this per km extra cost BS, with those

        • the km costs cover fuel.

          • @safrane: still Kinto's more expensive.

The way I see it, Kinto is more or less the same price as your normal rental companies, and they add the per KM price on top.

But when you compare with P2P car share, its waaay more expensive.

    • Drivemate looks good. Are there any promo, sign up or referral codes?
I noticed a car for $1/day - is this either a scam or do they make money with extras (I haven't signed up to see a total price)?

    • +1

Drivemate is a P2P platform, Kinto is a rental company. That's the difference.

  • My parents rented one for a month recently. The price was quite reasonable, the car brand new, immaculate.

It was a genuinely good experience which is extremely rare in my view with almost any other rental agency. No hidden nonsense.

Considering the quality of the car, the ease of booking it seemed like a good deal.

Not sure if I am the only one getting a sign-in error. It doesn't sign in to the app. I am using Pixel 9 Pro XL. I feel like, if you need a car for a day, the best is to use Sixt with NRMA discount and get a byd, etc for around 50-55$ and for an hour or two, flexi car is my go.

  • +1

Has to be the worse car rental app I have seen

  • how do you enter both codes at the same time? entering one after another voids the previous?

  • +1

Kinto is good when it works but has major flaws as the car can only be unlocked via the app. I was 2 hours away from home one time and there was an app outage with only 10 minutes left remaining for contactable hours. You can imagine how stressed I was waiting in queue on the phone. Took a good 2 hours until the problem was resolved. With set contactable hours and the car only being unlockable via the app, there is no solution if someone urgently needs the vehicle.

  • Can I sign-up and add them now to use in a month's time? Does anyone know?

    • +1

Yea, you can. It stays on your account until expiry in October

  • How to combine vouchers with out booking twice separate? Doesn't seem like cant make singular booking for 2 days to use both at once

  • Doesn't let me use both for EV, but does for all other cars?

  • Anyone else open an account when this deal was posted, and still waiting approval after uploading their licence?
