I wonder how this is interpreted. I signed up to their gas plan with a $250 credit in Oct 2024 but received my first bill on 22 March 2025 which is when the credit was applied. Think I'll play it safe and wait till after that date to sign up.

Be careful with this company in NSW Sydney they put me on a plan with "demand" charge which worked out to be ALOT of money ontop of usage charges. This normally has to be opted into which I never did, switched providers and no demand charge.
Its default on for new connections.
Some providers have switched customers over in bulk.
Its not something you can really escape with the way the ecosystem has been created. Complain to you local state member and the relevant minister as they made the decisions on this kind of thing.
That's because your distributor (Ausgrid/Endeavour) has you on a demand tariff, and that's the base for what all retailers will charge you.
Some retailers will opt out of providing demand charges for their customers, but that doesn't mean your tariff has changed.
You should submit a request through your retailer to change you to a tariff without a Demand charge.
That way you won't have to worry about demand charges when you change retailers in the future.
I just had a look at their electricity rates at my address, they're quite high.
Daily supply charge 124.07 c/day
Peak rate 36.32c/kWh
Off-peak rate 22.06c/kWh
I checked their rates for our area:
115c per day usage
40.11c per kWh for the first 11kWh used per day
42.12c per kWh for usage over 11kWh per day
This is pretty expensive!
We use about 25kwh per day call is 2300 per quarter , and pay 27c/kwh
The 14c/kwh difference in price equates to $322.
Even though our daily rate is higher than 115c, this deal is not worth it.
People should:
Learn to not fall for sign up bonus gimmicks,
Understand and calculate how electricity is charged and;
Check with a bunch of vendors to find the best price for them.
While their rates are expensive, you get the credit applied on your first bill. As soon as the credits are (close to being) used up, you churn to a different provider. It definitely saves you money if you stay on top of things and switch every few months.
A neg is a bit rude, given this context.

Also just check if your current rates are gst included. Engie rates are included.

I called NRMA and Engie 3 times each and they can't resolve the issue for me.
So I'm giving up now.
Has anyone gone through Shopback for this deal too ($100 cashback for electricity only)? It's coming up on the search through them but the t&c's are so confusing i.e. little information if the nrma is included and the stay period… only "confirmed in 120 days"?!
It's been 45 days and I'm ready to churn! But I still haven't received my first bill (there was an error in their system so i won't receive the bill until 12.06.26)… has anyone experienced any problems getting the welcome credit when just moving to the next churn?
