Can you please teach me -

Is it an one off usage or can I use it many times for how many years
eg: going to korea in May then off to china later on in the year
so that's 2 times in 12 months then next year off to Europe and Japan

    Thank you

"No limits: Supports unlimited downloading and overwriting of profiles "

  • very good product

  • +1

Not a bad price. Bought the 9esim v3 (1.5mb) for $40+ from Amazon and have had a few issues loading/unloading esim profiles.

    • +1

Did you try both apps? Lga and non lga I think that's what it's called

      • Yeah, on one wierd occasion, a pre-loaded esim profile disappeared and had to download again.

  • +2

Similar.price to aliexpress. Infact cheaper 12usd delivered

    • Link please?

      • +2

I cant link butnif you look up esim adapter, click into it. Then goto coins page and history it will be there for 10 usd so plus abother $2 gst isnaround 12 usd delivered

  • +3

    Paid about $22 from. AliExpress.

    • Link please?

      • +2

Just search 9ESIM on AliExpress they are all the same.

        • So not really a bargains then Daddy?

Why nobody wants to share an Aliexpress link? Just remove everything after & including the question mark.

          • +2

@WatchNerd: Because.without the stuff behind the question mark, its the expensive version.

            https://ibb.co/SzDqBRs

This is what I see on the app but if I link it direct, it's like 20 usd

        • why not just buy it directly from 9esim and use their discount '9ber' at least you get full customer support as these adapter sometimes die for unknown reasons, they'll ship you out a free one on warranty.

      • +1

        Search for ”esim adapter easyeuicc”

    • What's the software like? Does it need to be installed and running all the time?

I wonder if it requires a custom app provided by the multi-eSIM card supplier, or if any app that manages eSIMs can add/remove/enable etc.

      • I am pretty happy with it. There are 2 versions of the app, one is slightly more graphical.

You need app to switch sims, otherwise not needed.

Any OpenEUICC app should do. I am using the 9esim one which is different to what Aliexpress seller gave me.

  • +1

I've never used esim before. Does this product actually work?

It sounds like black magic. Too good to be true.

    • +5

You should stick to physical sims this black magic stuff is too advance.

    • Yeah it works, I have the estk.me one and handy for buying online esim overseas. Have tried in Vietnam, Singapore and China.

    • Same me babe

  • +1

400K is only 3-5 profiles depending on esim profile size. Source own 9esim v0 with 400kB from aliexpress. Also this is kinda expenny ….

    • I would think 3-5 esims would be fine? Surely buying a cheaper one from AliExpress would work out better. I'm interested in this for a non esim phone. I've only ever used 1 esim at a time on my esim phone and just delete it to replace it anyway.

  • +8

I work in the Session Border Controller space - be very careful with this. All SBC's have lawful intercept - but a device like this in combination with an unlocked phone is asking for MiTM and/or worse. Effectively it would be simple to put an SBC in front of the telco's SBC and you would be none the wiser - and all your voice/video intercepted. esim technology built in to the phone is ordinarily heavily guarded leveraging public key crypto to ensure you are dealing with the intended SBC - though all bets are off when you roam to foreign countries.

Processing captured voice traffic using humans would obviously be extremely labour intensive - but not so with AI. Think of what info can can be gleaned from a telephone call in the business world.

    • +3

Cool but we only use these for free doordash UBE and gyg accounts.

      • Ha - Nice - How do you get around the restriction on number of sim cards active that the service providers themselves implement?

      • Don't need eSIM for that stuff though…
… but I guess it makes it a bit easier/less fiddly than physical SIMs etc.

    • What did you just call me?

    • +2

      and all your voice/video intercepted

Every phone is vulnerable to that, not just ones with eSIM. See Stingray on Wikipedia.

Stingray was even described in the movie "Hunt for the Wilderpeople", but they may not have shown the real device. It's a real thing.

    • with an unlocked phone is asking for MiTM and/or worse

Do you mean phone with unlocked bootloader ?

though all bets are off when you roam to foreign countries.

So, you're implying that how foreign countries treat your eSIM profile, is outside of the jurisdiction of "lawful intercept" of the 'friendly West' ?

    • You haven't explained properly your thesis to be honest.

You should know that an open source implementation is more robust and safer than a closed esim system.

What do you have to say about that and I do wonder if those upvoting really know what they are talking about…

For one, these physical esims are just write and then you can move them to another phone. I don't see how that remains to be different to a physical sim as others have mentioned below/above.

The cryptography is still relying on public key cryptography, and under what scenarios does a realistic threat exist?

TDLR: mshanann has not properly described the threat model, nor the attack vector in detail.

If this is reflection of the standards of the professionals we have in the cybersecurity industry in Australia. F.

To simplify things for mshanann: How would you respond to this claim?

The cryptographic handshake between the adapter and the cell tower is just as solid as a regular SIM.

      • Nowhere did I mention I was in the cybersecurity area - I said I worked in the SBC space - and we use similar devices on rooted android phones for our own laboratory testing - using GSMA test profiles and the like. https://security-explorations.com/esim-security.html

        • From the link you gave:

The attack against Kigen eUICC relies both on physical access to sample card along knowledge of the keys used for malicious Java app installation.

          and

The hack proves no security / isolation for the eSIM profile and Java apps (no security for eUICC memory content).

          [emphasis added]

"relies … on physical access" means this isn't an attack that can be achieved via remote access or MITM attacks. Likely they're using something like Power analysis attack, which requires special hardware that doesn't exist in mobile phones.

And in the worst case, if they can take out your eSIM adaptor and put it into their hacking equipment, they can access the memory inside your smart card. This is rather dangerous, it means they could clone your eSIM and then use it in a SIM swap attack and gain access to things including your internet banking, if the internet banking account is linked to a phone number on an eSIM. So that's good to know, and can be avoided by only linking your internet banking to a mobile phone number on a physical SIM (not on an eSIM).

But your original claim "and all your voice/video intercepted" isn't possible using the attack in the link you listed. Ordinary voice calls can be intercepted and decoded by Stingray and similar devices, but video calling is usually done with WhatsApp and similar apps, which typically use their own encryption, and the MITM attackers can only see the encrypted data.

  • +7

I didn’t even know this kind of thing existed. Cool.

    • This kind of adapter exists at least since 2022/3.

    • +2

me neither! and I ended up spending money for a phone with esim compatibility. Not specifically, but it was one of the factors under consideration

      • +2

Having built-in eSIM functionality is generally still better

This sorta adapter prevents you from using services that force you to install their eSIM directly via their own app, e.g. Felix Mobile and some travel eSIMs

edit: similar to what this guy said

    • +1

me too - i thought the whole point of e-sims was to do away with these physical sims but we gone full circle

  • Will this work on tablet with Sim slot?

  • Does anyone know whether we can use one of these adapaters, purchase an unlimited eSim for ASIA or something and whack it into a mobile/wifi sharing dongle thing to share wifi?

    • +1

Yes, but you'll have to install the adaptor into a suitable smartphone first, so you can load the eSIM onto the adaptor. Then you can transfer the adaptor into the WiFi dongle.

This can be difficult if you have to punch the adaptor out in nano-SIM size in order to install it in the smartphone, but your dongle wants a micro-SIM or mini-SIM. You can overcome this by purchasing SIM size adapters.

Note that while the eSIM adaptor can hold multiple eSIMs, only the one most recently selected will be "visible" to the WiFi dongle. If you want to change to a different eSIM, or add or delete an eSIM, you'll have to move the adaptor back into your smartphone to do that. None of these things can be done while it's in the WiFi dongle.

      • Oh Awesome! Have you done this before? they say on most of the esim websites that the esim can only be activated once on the phone? If I transfer it over to the adapter, would that break it?

        • Not with a WiFi dongle, and not with this brand of adaptor. I used a different brand of adaptor, and installed it into an old Android 8 phone, from before eSIMs existed.

Here's a YouTube video with someone explaining how they load eSIMs into the adapter, and use the adapter in a mobile WiFi hotspot:
          https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l2PyjlwfaHw

  • Can this be used to convert a regular Sim to esim? Hoping to do that for companies that still don't offer rain option despite it being 2026 lol #aldi

    • Can this be used to convert a regular Sim to esim?

Only if your telco sends you an eSIM.

companies that still don't offer rain option despite it being 2026 lol #aldi

      ALDI does offer eSIM.

      • -1

About freaking time! Ty for that. Now for Moose mobile to offer it haha

  • I have a Samsung FE 20 (single SIM version).

Can I use this product to enable dual SIM functionality on my phone? (it doesn’t need to support active dual SIM)

    • +1

No. You can load many different profiles but only one can be active at a time

    • +2

Can I use this product to enable dual SIM functionality on my phone?

If your phone has only a single SIM slot and doesn't support eSIMs, no.

If your phone has eSIM capability and also has a SIM slot, putting this adaptor into the SIM slot will probably give you dual-eSIM capability.

I say probably because there are a few things that could prevent it working. You have to use an app to load eSIMs onto the adaptor. Usually you can install the adaptor's app before you have bought an adaptor, and the app will tell you if your phone is compatible.

If you do get it working, your phone's native eSIM ability will be controlled through your phone's setup menus, and eSIMs on the adaptor will be controlled by the app.

      • +1

        Thank you

  • Silly question team but let's say I put this sim into a 4G/5G hotspot device - how does the user toggle which of the SIM profiles is in use or would I need to use remove SIM and use the companion app to switch the active/primary profile?

  • @Pasagas - I've used 5ber before and this didn't work for the likes of esims that didn't use qr code. Is this the same with this? Ie. Boost, amaysim.

    Can you please confirm?

    • +2

If your telco requires their own app to be installed, and their app installs the eSIM, then an eSIM adaptor won't work.

The app that controls the eSIM adaptor is the only thing that can install/select/delete eSIMs on the adaptor, so you have to use the app's built-in methods, which are QR code and typing in some very long strings of letters and numbers.

There is a way to get a QR code out of Amaysim, I've done it myself and installed on a different brand of eSIM adaptor. The steps are described here. But you won't ever be able to use the Amaysim app, you'll have to log into the Amaysim website to check your usage and to recharge.

      • Is there a way for Telstra? it makes us use Telstra app then Esim profile, I need a QR code or that long text.

        • I'm not a Telstra customer, so I'm not sure.

Telstra seem to be super vague about how to get the QR code, but this link may help: https://www.telstra.com.au/support/mobiles-devices/activate-…

it makes us use Telstra app then Esim profile

Have you installed the Telstra app on a mobile phone that natively supports eSIMs, like an iPhone or Pixel or some Samsung phones?

If so, that may be the problem. The app sees that your phone supports eSIMs and is only offering you the "easy" method. Try installing the Telstra app on a phone or tablet that doesn't natively support eSIM, and hopefully it'll show you a QR code.

Otherwise, you'll just have to ask Telstra support.

Sorry I can't help more! Please let me know if you find a solution, and what that solution is, as it's not the first time I've been asked the same question!

The other possibility is that the Telstra app is stupid, and will ONLY show you a QR code if the Telstra App recognises that your device *is* eSIM compatible. The Amaysim app is stupid like this, it will show a QR code if the app is running on a device that it thinks is eSIM compatible. If it thinks your device isn't eSIM compatible, it'll block you with a message saying "your device isn't compatible", and you can't proceed any further.

  • I am hesitated to move to esim as upgrading a phone required a new esim. Telcom needs to send a new esim profile as the old one tied to old phone during activation. This adaptor will avoid this situation.

It involves cost for new esim sometimes. I learned it when travelling overseas using foreign esim.

  • I used 5ber until I got a phone with esim support.

  • +3

Why the requirement for a USB-C port phone when this device is just inserted into a typical micro sim port?

    • +1

The adaptor itself should work on anything that takes a physical SIM, but Android versions earlier than Android 11 don't support writing data to eSIM adaptors, so no way for the app to work on those phones, so no way to install an eSIM.

By saying "USB-C", they're just being lazy and are saying the equivalent of "only on modern versions of Android".

  • I don’t see the Samsung A15 4G phone on the compatibility list. Can you confirm whether this will work with that model?

    • +2

Why don't you download the easyeuicc app and verify your phone

  • If I was told about this product without seeing this post I would say no way in hell that works, especially for large carriers. Has anyone tested it works with Telstra services?

    • Worked with Vodafone and Optus on a similar adapter. Don't have Telstra esim profile to test.

    • I have used a different brand of eSIM adaptor with a Roamless eSIM, and Roamless can roam to both Optus and Telstra. I'm using it right now, connected through Telstra.

  • Would it work with esimflag? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/948849
