10% off RRP on METOD Kitchen System and Appliances (IKEA Family or Business Network Membership Required) @ IKEA

190

I’m currently planning a kitchen renovation. Based on my discussions with the IKEA Kitchen Team and their third-party installers, IKEA will be offering 10% off the METOD kitchen system and appliances starting March 5th.

Definitely offload risk to an installer! It's not particularly difficult to do…but literally every metod order I've had (3) has damaged items and blimey it's a stuff around.

The planning experts also send random numbers of feet and hinges, so worth having someone else deal with the returns.

    • Definitely need to double check orders at every step (ordering, collection and delivery).

Their porcelain/glass composite benchtops are hard to clean, according to the reviews.

    • +1

Which reviews? I had no problems with my porcelain IKEA benchtop. However, I only used it for 3 months before moving out.

Most of the porcelain bench tops in IKEA are new products that were introduced after the ban on engineered stone. There are no Australian reviews of these on the website. And I'm not sure the international reviews on the IKEA website are relevant to the specific products available in Australia.

  • Been keeping an eye on their pull out mixer taps, especially with the $25 off promo that's on. Are they all pretty much counted as part of the METOD system?
From the 2025 T&C link above:

METOD kitchen system - including our range of cabinets, kitchen fronts, cover
panels, plinths and deco strips, drawers, pull-out larder, carrousels, kitchen
worktops, kitchen wall panels, kitchen integrated waste sorting, [kitchen taps],
kitchen sinks and sink accessories, kitchen knobs, and handles

Would be a nice win for a stacked discount if they are (then discounted gift cards ontop of that!)

    • from a random person on the internet, I'd say yes. Its in the METOD page 🤷‍♂️

  • How much are you all getting quoted?
I’m about to purchase a kitchen (or 4) from China (I visited them). Top of the line.

Pls lemme know what you’re roughly paying so I can see if it’s worth the risk.

Keen to hear more about this?

    • i purchased a small/medium sized kitchen (not inc benchtops) 2 years ago (still not installed unfortunately), Overall my kitchen was about 10k including appliances. i stacked it with 10% gift cards from coles and woolies and $25 dollars off friday cafeteria promo they had.

in terms of pricing, it depends on size of kitchen, cabinet and panelling type. could have gone a lot basic but was quite happy with my design

Why dont you share the details of your order from China do we can see how it compares

      • I haven’t ordered yet, I need to pay for them to design it. Just haven’t done it yet

    • Also keen to hear more about this.

    • Use the Ikea online kitchen planner to get a price.

    • I got a quote today for a kitchen island 220 cm by 90 cm It was close to $9k. The top alone was just under $5k. And needed someone to install the bench before the stone mason would come, measure and then 3 weeks later install the bench top.

The furniture alone was $2.7 (got it down from $3.5 after making some changes).

I’ll most likely get the furniture from IKEA and the bench top somewhere else. Doing a quick search I found a few places much cheaper.

It used to be 15% off, and now just 10% off…

Whoever is buying IKEA kitchens, be mindful of the high labour costs. There's a lot of small parts and it's hard to find an installer. Random tradies don't like to follow manuals ("I know it better") and will mess up some bits of your kitchen due to that.

If you're ready to do some DIY and get a benchtop sourced and installed by someone else and also prepared for lengthy delays between steps and living without a working kitchen for months, it's an OK deal.

    Been there, done that.

    • Completely agree. Been there, done that, going to do it again sometime.

  • The Metod system isn't too bad. Have worked with it before. The rail system is more user friendly and you can technically do it yourself (1 person).

My only 2 grievances (suspect others share it) is:
    - doesn't fit every type of kitchen (corner cabinets in particular) so a bit to work around to get things to connect
    - make sure to add fillers and end pieces for a more professional finish (but also added cost)

Otherwise, instructions were clear and straightforward.

Lastly, would avoid Ikea appliances if you can. Some of them are decent but you can get better deals from other retailers (name brands) which will have longer life / elevates the kitchen

I've found most of the appliances good value for essentially mid-market rebranded Electrolux models with 5 year warranty, especially when on 10-15% sale, stacked with 6% off gift cards and Ikea rewards points.

      • +1

yes I know and hence why i say some are decent.

Comes down to how you want your kitchen to look, I think the METOD final product looks good if you put the right handles / knobs but definitely elevates when you have nice european appliances go with it.

Just my personal opinion. I did a full kitchen reno (using METOD) for a property a couple years ago for under $9K including German made dishwasher, oven, stovetop and rangehood.

  • So, we're looking at a start date of this Saturday?
I was initially told it will be next Thursday, but the earlier we can get this done, the better."

  • Ikea is not always cheaper than sourcing a cabinet maker who will actually design and fit it exactly to your space.

    • +2

An Ikea kitchen gives you access to all the clever drawers and internal organisers and accessories that a cabinet maker would class as a high-end/expensive kitchen. That's what I've seen with our friends who essentially used a cabinet maker to copy our Ikea kitchen and ended up paying through the nose for it.

For just a basic doors and shelves kitchen with awkward dimensions, maybe a local or online cabinet maker would be competitive.

  • Any chatter about upcoming pax deals?

  • Well that's annoying, just spent $2K on the Metod cabinets for a laundry reno, had it delivered this week.

Anyone know if they will do a refund/re-purchase without having to take it all back?

    • +1

I got a partial refund in store credit to match the 20% off mattress sale. Might have to be within a 14 day window for a cash refund.

  • +1

Any confirmation this is happening? No banners on their website site yet.

    • Wondering the same - had a kitchen to order

  • Wondering if 10% is enough to cover the price hike (if any). I'm upgrading my old kitchen.
