I’m not a Samsung type of guy, but I really liked the breakdown of discounts you applied.

  • +15

love the specs.. but 4900mah battery? what the…should be 7000+ given new battery tech

    • +7

id be more worried about the Exynos chip than the battery in the S26+

      • +9

The Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ are powered by the Exynos 2600 in most markets around the world. However, customers in the United States, China, and Japan will get >the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 instead.

WTF, I thhought they had scraped the exynos for this release. Why do US, China and Japan get special treatment?

        • +1

Looking at Geekbench 6 scores, its performance lies between that of 25+ and 26+ Snapdragon.

        • +3

Yea that's why a friend and I are getting the s26 ultra; comes with the Snapdragon. Lucky my brother in law works at Samsung for 50% off 🫡

          • +8

@donman92: Excellent, the ozbargin posse can buy through him. Sorted 😉

          • @donman92: could i please PM you for this 50% off

            • +1

@cheapskatehaggler: He's limited to 2 for preorders sorry. Otherwise I'd have fun giving him 1000 refferal bonuses haha

          • @donman92: are you SURE? Most releases with exemption of the s24 got the Exynos nerf.

        • +2

I have no idea why consumers accept Samsung's region-based discriminatory tactics and the second-rate Exynos processors. Worse battery life, more heating, and even worse camera still/video image quality. But more profits for Samsung.

          • +1

@andrew1879: Consumers cant help it as there are no non-Chinese choice other than Pixel in the android space - pixel itself is aleady an inferior product in comparision hardware wise. And I dont think the govt can/would want to do anything, even though they are strict about warranties and stuff. I mean, EU who made Apple go on USB C themselves are not doing anything :D

          • +2

@andrew1879: Would never buy another exynos device. My s23+ took better photos and video then my s24+ upgrade and battery was a shocker. Second phone generation to experience that.

        • I think those are the 3 biggest markets for phone games, where people use thier phones as their phones as the primary gaming device, where snapdragon performs better.
I'm still using my S21 Ultra aussie Exynos version and haven't had any issues.

          • @Kegsta: Its not about issues, we are paying the same money to get a slightly inferior product. Its still a perfectly usable product.
The Elite Gen 5's single threaded performance is 18% faster than the exynos 2600 as per geekbench score (source wccftech). That a good chunk of difference if you use the phone for 5+ years with later OSes/apps demanding faster performance.

            • @John Doh: *more FTFY
They know aussies are suckers for impulse buys.

          • @Kegsta:

I think those are the 3 biggest markets for phone games, where people use thier phones as their phones as the primary gaming device, where snapdragon performs better.

Interestingly it looks like the Exynos 2600 AMD RDNA4-based GPU has a slight edge over the Snapdragon X Elite's Adreno, along with supposedly better cooling. We'll have to wait for proper comparisons to be certain though.

            • @eug: We are at a point where the benchmarks mean nothing compared to the driver support for games or emulation. In saying that the Exynos is worse at benchmarks and will also never get as much third party driver support as Qualcomm gets. So comparing the GPUs is moot imo.

        • Scraped or scrapped?

      • It is alright if you are light to moderate user, as i have used s9 with Exynos 9810, s21 with Exynos 2100 in past and had no problem. Agree they are not as good as snapdragon but does the work.

        • +6

Nah, if we're already paying aussie prices. We should be getting premium parts.

      • +2

        Exynos in 2026

        Oof

    • Agree. I was using s21 for sometimes now with 4000mah as day to day. Battery health went down recently to roughly 85% so bough s26. Anyway will see how Samsung go in next few year with battery cap, bigger is better i guess.

    • what the…should be 7000+ given new battery tech

If the swelling problem with silicon carbon hasn't been solved I don't blame them for not switching yet.

      • +2

I dont think there is a real swelling problem, since there are now 4~ year old first gen phones from oppo etc that dont swell.

        • +1

I dont think there is a real swelling problem, since there are now 4~ year old first gen phones from oppo etc that dont swell.

          Which phones were those?

The first phone with a silicon carbon battery that I can see is the China-release Honor Magic5 Pro in 2023, at 5,450mAh. The global model was released with a standard 5,100mAh lithium ion battery. The difference was just 6.8% more capacity; presumably they didn't add too much silicon to avoid any issues.

It's only later on when companies like Vivo used higher silicon content for their much higher-capacity cells (e.g. the china-only Vivo X100 in mid 2024). Those are still relatively new so it'll be interesting to see how they fare. Hopefully swelling won't be a problem. The S series phones sell in the tens of millions so even a 0.001% defect rate would be really bad for the company's image like what happened with the Note 7.

          • @eug: i think we watched the same youtube video - "true" silicon carbon should yield 10x the capacity albiet 300% swelling.

currently manufacturers are carefully adding more silicon content, for a small capacity bump with minimal swelling.

            • @aong152:

i think we watched the same youtube video

Hmm I don't think so, I don't remember a video mentioning a 4 year old silicon carbon phone?

      • +1

I went and bought a dav4 at MSRP just to not be anywhere affiliated with this dude

    • -1

they learn this from the f@$k apple.
i used to have its Galaxy Watch Ultra. it's not cheap and 47mm so enough room, i watched a review (at that time only one review) said 100+hr battery before buying, turn out normal use only last for around 2day max. so i sold it on ebay and blacklist that dude.

    • Yeh I purposely bought S25 base late last year and see if S26 will be a better.
Now with confirmed chip and what ever upgrades……
      I'll keep the S25
Not a heavy user, so set battery protection to 85% from day 1…. Only charge to 100% on road trip in NZ

There was a Chinese youtuber that tested consumer chinese devices and found actually performance vastly different to press devices given out, so I don't trust the silicon carbide batteries yet

  • how much is s26u please?

    • I saw other post with few voucher it can be around 1399 somewhere.

      • +1

        around $1280 s26u+ buds4

    • With Yello and first purchase you can get it down to around $1,500 for the 256gb version, then people are using various extra discount codes to push it down to around $1,350 or so.

    • 256 gb will be circa $1,250
512 gb will be circa $1,450

Assuming all 4 codes and both including galaxy buds 4

  • +2

    s26+ or s26 + buds?

    • +1

Sorry meant to add s26 & buds 4

  • What's this Commonwealth Bank Portal ??

    • +6

      it's the yello portal.

    • That is correct normal price after vouchers is around 963 something but if you add bud 4 and GALAXYAI voucher that will add more discount to your phone. 100 voucher would get from Samsung members or chat though support. Combank code would be uniq to each if i am correct same as Samsung.

    • 100 voucher is from email when u sign up before it launched. I tried to sign up today but nothing received. U can check other posts about it.

    • +1

Report the deal if you think the title needs fixing, not neg it

The $100 discount was received via email. Code starts with THY

  • +2

Hmm I got this down to $922:
    S26 256gb
    Buds4
    Silicone Magnet Case

    $100 Thank you code
    $50 CBA coupon
    $200 Eco voucher
$100 voucher (either Members voucher or email voucher, forget which)
    5% first order discount

    • What's the $100 thank you code? Is unique?

      • Its unique but can get it form the chat, i just told delete all my email due to space issue

        • I have been struggling on WhatsApp to chat with Samsung. Keeps disconnecting

          • @djsydney: I used the browser had no issues at all.

            • @vbhaven: Thanks. Used the text option and worked. They gave me the THY and 26S code but not the member voucher :(

              • @djsydney: I think it's some error, it should have been $200 not $100 member discount , below is what I got

                $100 Thank you code
                $50 CBA coupon
                $200 26 code
                $200 Galaxyai

                5% first order discount
                Total I paid - $1523.37 for 512gb ultra and bud 4 pro

                • @vbhaven: This is what I have:

                  26C-XXXX → –$200.00
                  GALAXYAI → –$200.00
                  THY-XXXX → –$100.00
                  YELLOS26 → –$50.00
Welcome discount: 5% off first purchase

So looks the same as your discount. I wanted the 256 GB Ultra + Buds Pro -> $1310

                • +1

                  @vbhaven:

I think it's some error, it should have been $200 not $100 member discount

                  I think it's $200 for the Ultra, $100 for the base S26

    • I think mine was not consider as i was new, i will try ask support to see if i can get or not. But you are right if 5% apply then it should be around 922 inc buds 4

    • -2

Not bad at all, the iPhone base with Air pod 3 starts at 1828+. This is literally half the price at 922 for an yet to be released phone.

      • not sure why you got negged here.

        • Sheeple always butt hurt they cannot get at this price.

          • @John Doh: Any phone still has micro sd card slot and fm radio?

            • @RTX9090Ti: No idea, they are porobably only available at entry level phones with headphone jacks - the wired headphones act as an antenna for FM radio.

    • $100 voucher (either Members voucher or email voucher) - how did you get this one?

    • +1

Bugger haha i got through support and found out i bought s10 long time ago as a gift which revoked 5% off. Good catch op.

    • hey, how do you get the Welcome discount: 5% off first purchase

      • +1

Shows up when you sign in, if it's your first purchase

  • +1

This $100 voucher from Samsung, can it be requested via chat or should have received prior in email?

    • Yes, if you ask them for voucher they will provide one.

  • -2

    Fist time post be gentle.

Don't forget to read the guidelines…

New users shouldn't write I'm new, don't flame me etc.

For first time posters, it's best to avoid telling the community that you are new and asking them to take it easy on you. The “L-plate icon” will be shown to indicate if this is your first post.

  • +1

Joined Comm credit card for almost two month now, still no offer in Yello. Is it normal? Anything special I need to turn on?

    • Unsure as i got yellow though steppay. Although i have seen few criteria to get yellow offer such as maintain 500 for 15 days and make x number of payment through valid window.

    • +2

There are different tiers, could be that you didn't meet the criteria for the tier with Samsung discount.

  • Cheers OP! I guess we can stack this with the Amex offer can’t we

    • You can't, when using the Commbank Samsung Store you must check out with an eligible CBA card.

      • +2

A guy in other post found a way to use CBA portal and pay with AMEX so it works.

        • +7

          Ahhhh very tricky, love it!

For those stacking CBA Yello and Amex. Type in your CBA cc details on the checkout/payment page, it will verify it. Disconnect/turn off connectivity. Enter in Amex details. Reconnect and complete the payment process.

It seems the CBA card verification process is called by the page and not at the actual time of payment. If that makes sense.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/17383231/redir

          • @LostyJai: How do we make it work? Im trying to get that checkout option, but its always Confirm and Pay button. Im trying on mobile browser. @LostyJai

            • +2

              @danger163:

Go through checkout to payment option
Put your CBA card details in to validate
              Disconnect your internet
              Change card details
              Turn internet back on
              Complete order

From what I understand from the instructions is that when you are typing in your CC details, that is when it verifies if you are using a CBA CC.

You type in your CC details, which at the same time it will verify that it is a valid CBA CC in the background.
Immediately after entering your credentials (don't hit pay), disconnect your internet/wifi and on the same page just put in your AMEX CC details (it will try to verify if it's a valid CBA CC but can't because you are OFFLINE).
After your AMEX CC is entered, go back online and hit pay.

    • Amex T n C says can not be used for pre order

      • I checked too, its only if pre-order release date is after Amex's cashback offer ends on 31st March. I just saw another comment say they got their $100 back in amex already

  • +3

Used Commbank code for 50 off on S26

    Generic code YELLOS26

  • +2

If you are in the market for 2 phones, you get double the discounts for each code.

Hack: The GALAXYAI code reduced the price by $400, but you only need $200 worth of galaxy add-ons. So you can reduce the price by $200 total ($100 per phone). Pretty decent. Someone mentioned it in the other thread, but others claimed it didnt work. I suspect it only works on the Commbank sub-site.

    • seems fixed, doesnt drop it by $400 anymore

      • I tried it few hours ago and you must have $400 accesories.

  • so phone alone is 772$ s26?

    • Only if you add buds 4 otherwise it would be around 960. So if you add buds and code you can get buds for 10 bucks. And that will drop prices on your phone but buds will still listed as 198 something on inv.

  • How do you get the 26S-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX code from? Thanks

    • Either from Samsung members application under benefit section or have chat with support.

  • +1

    Multi-Buy Offer - 50% off RRP applied
    $100 Thank You code applied
    Voucher applied - $50 discount
    Voucher applied! $200 Eco-Voucher discount
    Voucher applied - $100 discount

    Bought s26 smallest version 512GB + 1 x silicon magnet case, 2 x magnet charger and 1 x 50w charger for $1094.83 using this post's method.
I have no idea how the op made it below than $1000, but this is way better than my previous order for 1 less magnet charger for $1233. I have cancelled that order already. Thanks OP

    • Ah i know the difference now!
This is different from samsung official store which offers free upgrade from 256 to 512.
In this partner store, 256 and 512 have different prices. That makes sense to me now.
So i actually bought a larger rom one than the OP, which cost me about $120 more.

      • When you say different stores, what's the alternative to the Samsung official store? Where is the 256gb and 512gb prices differently, the Samsung education store or elsewhere?

        • Commbank partner store. The same domain name but different store

  • S26 or S26Ultra more value for money?

    • +1

It might be trickly to tell but defiantly if you link big phone go for ultra that provides more features and factuality. Smaller phones are easy to carry and hold with restricted features like cameras, battery etc but cost less.

  • +3

Hm I managed to get it down to $875. S26 256GB is $676.17 and Galaxy Buds4 are $198.83

    • 26C code gave $100 off
    • GALAXYAI gave $200 off
    • THY code gave $100 off
    • YELLOS26 gave $50 off
    • 5% welcome discount
    • What's the 26C code?

    • Where did you get 26C and THY from. I am getting 1075 with GalaxyAI and Yellos26
