      Why?

      • Maya is launching a dedicated eSIM package just for attendees during the event dates (March 2–5, 2026).

    • +12

Be carefully they will steal all $3.60 on your saving account.

  • +2

What's the catch ? Anyone know the company. Offer seems to be pretty solid though

    • +1

Appears to be an 11 year old company based on Crunchbase. OP has possibly sourced the deal from Redflagdeals and the original link seems to be related to the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona that's happening next week.

    • Their normal eSIM prices are not competitive by OzBargain standards.

    • Maya is offering a dedicated eSIM package exclusively for MWC Barcelona attendees (March 2–5, 2026).
All regular data and roaming plans remain available on the main Maya site.

Prefect for my galaxy lte watch. Less risk

    • can you use this for watch?
doesn't it need to match the mobile device network carrier?

      • +3

Yes. But data only. Just loaded esim on watch and working great.

        • not sure how to do this, can you please explain?
I just added the e-sim to my mobile and switched it on for data purposes, then for my watch ultra I tried to configure it and selected edge mobile e-sim as an option, then I received error saying yes optus doesn't offer mobile plans for watches ☹

          • -2

@bhakharvadi: They didn't say Apple Watch.

          • +3

@bhakharvadi: To add this esim to your Galaxy Watch using the QR code, open the Galaxy Wearable app, click the squares at the bottom of the screen, then click the 3 dots at the top right corner, then select settings.

Click About Galaxy Wearable, then tap the "Galaxy Wearable" title 5 (or so) times until it opens the secret menu.

Inside the secret menu click module test, esim test, and change QR TestMode from off to on.

Then go all the way back to the main screen, click watch settings, mobile plans.

It will ask you to pick your plan that is in your phone; don't worry about that and click it anyways, and a new option to scan the QR code should appear.

Scan the QR code from the OP and it will add the plan to your watch.

Then all you have to do is enable the mobile plan, mobile data, and data roaming on the watch.

You can go back to the secret menu and turn off QR testmode if you want.

  • If I’m going overseas (Bali) I assume it’s best to scan this when I land in the new country? Or better to set it up here before I fly to reduce hassle on the other end?

    • +1

I am going to Vietnam in a week, tried adding the eSim now and it seems to have automatically switched to the new eSIM which means it might have activated the eSIM. This could just be my phone but there is a risk of it activating right-away.

    • If it's global data, then activate it at home to confirm that it's working (with roaming enabled) - and then turn off the data so you don't accidentally use it all before leaving.

If it's regional-only (e.g. SE Asia only) data, then activate it once you arrive at the destination airport, using the free airport wifi. If there's no free wifi then screenshot/print out the eSIM QR code beforehand at home.

Generally you want to activate the eSIM as late as possible in case you miss your flight home and need more time on your eSIM, but for newbies (or those going to places with no free airport Wifi) it's better to do it at home first.

This looks like a promo for Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2026. Probably will run till the junket finishes or they run out of esims.

  • +1

Just scan to install the eSIM (no personal info, card or registration required)

I wonder how they get away with that?

    • It's not a legal requirement to collect that information.

      • +1

I believe that this is true when it is data only.
If there is a phone number attached, most countries want that type of info.

        • Huh - google tells me in Australia you are supposed to provide personal info even for data only…

          • -2

@Almost Banned: Yes, pretty much every country requires passport or similar, so this seems extremely sketchy

  • -3

no personal info, card or registration required

Isn't this highly illegal? Telcos must KYC in Australia.

    • +3

I think not necessary if only data sim?

      • -3

        Completely wrong

        https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/nat-security/files/dataset.pd…

        i) any name or address information; ii) any other information for identification purposes;

This category also includes details about services attached to account, such as the unique identifying number attached to a mobile phone, or the IP address (or addresses) allocated to an internet access account or service.

        • +4

Lol.. why are you so hell bent on giving away your personal details if you can get away with not having to?

    • +9

Maya is based in New Mexico, USA. If AI is correct, Maya esim users are not a direct customer of local Telco providers such as Telstra/Optus. So the you don't need to KYC.

You don't need KYC for internet roaming, non-voice connection in many countries. Also Maya is selling you only data and no phone number. /S So it's suitable for boosting sovereign citizen morale and consumption. end /S

      • I got a SIM based in Singapore but allowed international data roaming. The SIM could be used without verification globally, however, if in Singapore, then identity documents were required.

    • -3

not just in Australia….. hence my comment above yours. I don't think I've ever heard of a country that doesn't need Govt ID to access a mobile network (data or mobile).

      • +3

I've paid for data sims from a few diff vendors when traveling over the years and have never had to provide ID

      • +1

Interesting topic. Here is the facts. Check this one out - https://www.gsma.com/solutions-and-impact/connectivity-for-g…

      • +1

I've bought data only travel sims for multiple countries including Australia, never had to KYC.

      • -3

Esims have always been different to this.

        • Esims are no different from a physical sim.. they are still a mobile service, they just don't need the physical piece of plastic.

  • +5

Tested it and works. Optus network and 5G speeds. Got 225Mbps speed test. Make sure you turn data roaming on in the Sim settings.

Received a SMS shortly after activation:

"Welcome to Maya eSIM at MWC 2026! You're all set with seamless global data. Running low? Top up in seconds: Link to a create account (paraphrased)"

They must be giving these out for the MWC event in Bacelona.

    • 241 down, but only 2.71 Mbps up for me

    • I'm wondering how is a SMS received if the SIM has no number associated with it?

      • +1

From my experience the ones that receive SMS confirmation actually do have a phone number associated with it. They're just hard to find out what it is. I've had a data only esim for Hong Kong which requires real name verification and you get that reminder via SMS. I've been able to find the associated number by finding and going on the network providers website to check my data usage.

Perfect timing im going to Thailand on Monday,so this is very helpful for me!
Thank you i really appreciate it!

    • Japan and china on Tuesday, again great timing!

      • +6

        Japan and china on Tuesday

        Busy day.

  • +4

Nice. Just arrived in SG and can confirm it's working.

  • +2

@noname657 Can we push back activation? Don't need it until June this year

    • Sorry, I don't think so. I've updated the description to include a possible end date of the deal.

  • Philippines ….. I am flying manila tomorrow

  • Thank you op activated for Australia in few clicks

  • Wonder when the last day for activation is. Can you add it now and activate later?

    • you try, you scan, that prompts: "Activate"

  • Does anyone know if they know if we register more than once per device?

    • You will get an error when trying to install a second one when the first one still on the phone. Haven't try remove the old one to test yet.

    • iPhone 17 can run 2 active eSIMs at the same time and store up to 12 profiles in memory.

Check you iPhone / Android model for specific details but yes, latest devices can run multiple eSIMs

      • You're right but it doesn't answer their question

  • Does this activate immediately? Any way to prevent this?

    • Curious about this too… head overseas in a couple of weeks.

    • +1

May depend on how your phone setup. My is Pixel 7 and it didn't activated after I download the esim profile.

      • +1

Confirm that the esim is enabled automatically if setup on iphone. On Android, the esim profile is added to the esim list but not enable.

        • Doesn't quite answer the question

You're referring to the eSIM itself being in "active" state

The question is about whether the 15-days validity begins immediately, which is NOT dependent on the eSIM's active status

  • Cant activate it, no signal

    • try turning on "Roaming" for that particular sim

      • got it working now, cheers mate

  • +2

PSA: You'll want to activate this now or in the next few days because the QR code will probably stop working soon. And even if you're not travelling, 15GB of free local Aussie data for the next 7 days is still nice.

Using the Optus network under "Edge Mobile", roaming enabled but IP address is local.

    • I installed it but not activated it yet because I'm not travelling until April…. Not dur eif it will work then

  • +1

So Australia is supported that’s good. Extra 15gb can go a long way

  • activated.
chose to use it in home country.
Checked and confirmed this esim is set for mobile data.

Now I can use the data without turning on the Data roaming on this Mays esim.

  • +1

Speeds are decent but the IP address is showing up as being in Singapore

    • Yes same.

  • Thanks. Got it working.
How to check remaining data on this Sim?

  • -2

If it's free, am I (or my data) the product?

  • Hrm, I'm wondering how many esim they giving out.

  • I'm using s24+, first time using esim but can't seem to get it working. Currently in Taiwan. I turned on roaming like someone instructed but still not working. Restarted phone a couple of times as well. Any ideas?

    • i presumed you will need to connect to wifi to activate first.. then you can use it

      • It didn't auto connect to network for me. Had to set networks to manual and select Optus then worked.

      • It started working at some point, not sure exactly how long it took. Didn't do anything more than what I had described before.

  • +1

This will be handy if it doesn't expire before I go OS

    • Yeah I wish for the same I installed it hope it still works next month

  • -2

can this be used for JBHifi perks?

    • there’s no phone number attached

      • :-(

  • -2

    Does it receive text messages?

    • No. See comment right above your message.

  • Thanks, can confirm data working on my Galaxy Watch Ultra

  • +1

Sweet! Now to plan a 1 week trip overseas!

  • +2

Not working anymore? "Can't set up esim"

    • same problem. what a shame, just what i need.

      • just tried again, seemed to work

  • expired

    • I assume you mean installing from scratch has expired?
I installed a couple of days ago but only just activated it and the eSIM data is still flowing.
I also received this txt confirming it -

Welcome to Maya eSIM at MWC 2026!

You're all set with seamless global data.

Running low? Top up in seconds:
      https://mwc-2026-top-up.maya.net/G9H6-G9MV

      • Yeah but unlikely will work after 5th March as in activation

    • Could be a technical issue on their end, maybe not expired?

    • +1

It's still active. For those heading to MWC Barcelona (March 2–5, 2026), Maya will be offering an attendee-exclusive eSIM package for the event.
If you’re not attending, Maya’s regular global data and roaming plans are still available as usual.

      • I'm assuming this will only allow you to activate til 5th March. Can you install now and activate at a later date or it will fail?

  • I was in China yesterday and can confirm I was able to activate this free esim.
