Instant Pot Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven 10L $99 + Delivery (Free over $120) @ Instant Pot

450

Not the cheapest it's been but a decently cheap price for the Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer 10L from the manufacturer themselves. RRP of $349 seems inflated.

Have owned one for a few years and use it quite often. Only good things to say about it so far for small batches.

Love ours but absolutely a pain to clean the door

    • How does your door get dirty?

anything that spits while cooking will inevitably get on the door, stuff can drip off the trays when you remove them. it's not that difficult

        • off trays when open’s the main show

The door should be able to come off. Open it about half-way, slide it to the left and it should disconnect. Makes it easier to clean in the sink. I love my vortex plus. However i find it dries meat out too much when roasting a prime cut, like bolar of blade.
Chips and battered fish is a dream in this thing!

Sometimes I drop a cup of two of water under the grate while roasting to create a steam oven effect.

y never tried in th dishwasher..?

        • I don't have a dishwasher

          • @teddiebear: i got a 3/4 size ex demo for $20 – highly recommend

The door does come off. I’ve gone one and took me a while to figure it out, slightly open it then “tear it away”on an angle and it comes off. You then simply clip it back in. Not intuitive but do it once and it will become second nature.

    • I just leave some nappi san water on it to dissolve the grease, then a plastic scratch pad. There was some water inside but I found it drain out mostly and then next time you use it, and water left gets evaporated out.

I grabbed the 13L for $129 with accessories, free shipping…

I have one of these and like it. But there's 3 things worth noting about it imo

1 if you want to use both trays at once you'll need to manage the food a bit. Things on the lower tray will not cook anywhere near as fast as things on the top. So you will probably need to switch them around midway through. And if you also need to flip things on each tray then you'll have to make several adjustments over the cook. It's not hard but we're talking about and air fryer, so I think the point it valid

2 You can't shake the food like you can in a basket air fryer. So turning food is more fiddly

3 because of the multiple levels the effective cooking space is lower than the 10L would suggest imo

      great points

i sometimes think it’d be good to have a small basket one as well

        Especially for cooking chips!

        • +2

It comes with a rotisserie basket/cage, ideal for chips!

@mauricem: I used to use the rotating basket but it's fussy and a process getting the out and handling it hot lol. I love using it for crumbed chicken drumsticks though.

            • +2

@teddiebear: Yeah TBH I've only used the rotisserie about twice, results were good but not markedly better than using the trays for what I was cooking. I think its worth mentioning that you can fit a "normal" sized frozen pizza in these which is not possible in most of the traditional basket AFs

    • Point 1 can also a benefit, eg I put chips on the top tray and fish in foil on the lower tray both cooked perfectly in 10 minutes at 180C

Is the rrp a thing? It looks like a hugh discount.
