Is there any methods available to pay ATO bills and earn credit card points in 2026 other than pay.com.au and sniip that charge a % fee
Earning Credit Card Points on ATO Bill in 2026
Comments

The masses killed off Beem and Zip BPAY, they will never take away my TopCashback method.

Wait, you can’t Zip BPAY the ATO anymore?

I did it in November, what changed?

@6079 Smith: How does it work? Is it Zip Pay you use? I need to pay ~10k. Can you use a credit card to load up Zip Pay and then use Zip Bpay? Can you also put you credit line in positive (aka deposit $10,000 into Zip Pay then pay the ATO). Like with credit cards you can over pay your repayments, and it no longer draws down from your line of credit. Also Zip Pay has a 1k credit line, so not enough for me and I need to over repay Zip to use it.

@xNik: You BPAY it in $1k increments then pay off your balance straight away and repeat. No loading up and it’s $2.50 per go

@6079 Smith: Do you pay the balance off immediately with your credit card (like an ANZ credit card)? And is there any card fees for paying off the balance?

@xNik: You don't have to pay off immediately if you don't want to. They give you a statement and just pay by due date to avoid fees.
But it is 1k limit per bpay and there are fees now (used to be no limit except your credit limit and no fees)
You could pay immediately then do another bpay. Be warned, if you do it often they keep locking your account and you need to go thru the verification process. It's easy but takes time

What is "topcashback" method?

There are a lot of third party payment providers who allow you to earn points on ATO and government payments, but they do have high fees and generally not worth it IMO. However your experience may vary

Like buying cereal just for the toys inside.

You want points but not paying fees….

Use gift cards.

Sniip considers ATO payments as a higher "bracket" and so charges more for Amex fees, but they charge less for rates etc.
I generally overpay my council rates via Sniip by like 5 to 10 grand a year and have them refund that to me. When they refund it, because it was paid out via BSB they refund it to my bank account and then those fund go to the ATO.
The reason I find this efficient is because it helps with manufactured spend to get points, so the processing fee is quite reasonable. For example I might spend $62 for a $5000 payment, which upon conversion equals about 5,600 Qantas points. I can generally redeem these for upgrades given I am P1 with QF.

You get QFF when paying Sniip with BSB?

No I pay via Amex, but Sniip pays the council via BSB.

Buy Coles Mastercards when they don't have the fee.

I thought this doesn't work anymore. The method got patched. https://gcdb.com.au/article/ato-stops-accepting-gift-cards/
