Xiaomi Tag (for Android & iOS) 1-Pack $29.50, 4-Pack $64.50 + $9.90 Delivery ($0 with $69 Order) @ Xiaomi Australia

350

It's a Bluetooth tracker with both Google Find Hub and Apple Find My support, what can I say.

The kicker in the nuts / vajayjay is no UWB support.

Takes coin batteries compared to the UGREEN Duo trackers which are at a similar price point and charge via USB-C.

All brands work like that. You choose either when setting up. At least Xiaomi are upfront about it.

You might even say they are Clear about it

No it not easy to swallow

So what is the alternative that does both at the same time?

    • +2

There are none, the apple licencing agreement effectively prohibits it.

      Buy 2

    • Tiles. But my last shopping experience with them has been terrible. Terrible customer service.

Might be time to ditch first generation Samsung tags once they add decent features, I've gone through so many coin batteries with these.

  • What is the distance for this tag? Tile pro tags distance range 150m.

    • Not sure what the distance is. I was a previous Tile pro user, however the battery will just die at a random time without notification. When I needed to find it, it would often be too late. Also, the lack of users meant there is very little crowd source data to help track it.

Funny enough, I bought a Motorola tag recently, put it on my cat. Turns out my cat lost his collar and the tracker completely disappeared for a week. It appears that no one on the neighborhood has an android phone lol. My phone suddenly ping the Motorola tag when I was chasing my cat through an old Tile.
Looks like I'm gonna buy an Apple tag…

        • As a parent of an autistic kid with escape behaviours, a 1000x this.

Apple tags themselves are nothing special. The prevalence of apple users is. When he runs I get an updated location about every 3-5 minutes on an airtag.

Probably 20 minutes on Samsung, a day on Tile, and anything else - probably forever.

I use Samsung tags for stuff around the house as the sound is way louder than airtags.

  • No UWB = No buy. Going to wait for V2..

  • NO UWB,Other Chinese brand models manufactured by the same OEM are priced at less than $6 on alibaba platforms.

    • That is stated in the description that there is no UWB, those that want UWB for Android are kind of limited though.

@wombat81: Yeah and it's old news. Could go on and on about other tech companies that the US has the shits with too.

Can tinfoil all these brands all you want, or you can just get on with it. Have used Xiaomi since 2016 and never once had an issue, most folks don't in most regions they are sold.

Could also go on and on about how tech companies like Google also harvest data, but what a waste of time that is living ones life, instead of actually living their life.

              Christ almighty.

    • From that logic, it's the same as apple, google and samsung.

No wonder why tracking (spying) intelligence is accurate. You can't hide.
