  • 1st part of 2nd dot point should be changed to $189 and 500GB.

    $199 and 650GB is wrong.

  • +1

    Does it include 5G?

    • 4G only. 5G only with the large montly plan "Eligible new and existing customers on our Large monthly prepaid plan will get access to our rapid 5G network."

If suited, Lyca is also offering cheaper plans.

    $110- 200gb /360days
    $175-600gb/360 days

Many OzBargainers have bad experiences with Lyca

      • +10

Yep, based on my experience I’d stay away from Lyca.

    • +2

Lyca bad very bad it pain and stress

    • +2

Lyca worst company to deal with + Major restrictions (no 1300, MMS). Trust me, I am a churna

  • What kind of data speeds do they offer? I couldn't find much on that on their website. Looking to replace my shit NBN connection that doesn't work with a 4G/5G internet connection with a cellular connection wifi router.

    • try one of the kogan mobile smaller monthly plans first to see what speeds you get

    • +1

Huh? where did you get that information from?!!

Voucher must be purchased by 11:59PM AEDT on 09/03/2026. Voucher expires at 11:59PM AEDT on 31/03/2026.

      • I saw that earlier but now says 31/3/26
I did buy one month ago and mine expires end of December (I paid $20 more though but had an Amex offer and used tcn converted cards to buy)

4G only. 5G only with the large montly plan "Eligible new and existing customers on our Large monthly prepaid plan will get access to our rapid 5G network."

  • This is the best kogan deal since Black Friday. That's good.

Switching back to Kogan, Lyca doesn’t do mms from iPhone to Android can only send a pic via iMessage what’s app or messenger etc , it’s only good for normal calls and international calls but I don’t really do international calls

    • Yes, such a shame about Lyca. Cheap plan but if you do need to send MMS (I have Samsung) you are stuck to WhatsApp and not all people have WhatsApp or telegram ecc

  • Looking to get a 4G backup for NBN since it goes down when the power goes out… will this work well in a 4G modem connected to Unifi gateway? Any cheaper options for that purpose? I really only need it in use when the power goes out, and can rate limit the connection to keep the data usage low - mainly wanting to preserve remote access to Home Assistant and managing home battery.

Was also wondering if Starlink on standby could work for this? It would be in Brisbane so usually there would be a demand surcharge but not sure if this applies if I just want the standby option. Would be more resilient than 4G, I think.

    • you haven't considered a UPS?

      • NBN HFC goes down when the power goes out even if I have UPS at home

  • There's no more sub $100 long expiry plans with data, is there? From anyone?

  • These can be used as recharge vouchers.

Where does it say they can be used to reachrge existing Kogan services? Just wanting to confirm before I buy one

    $189 650GB

    Online shows 500 Gb?

        • +2

Can i order now and activate in 3 months?

For people worried about 4G vs 5G when Kogan ran their 5G trial for a couple of months I noticed zero difference in signal quality or speed. Feels like 5G just isn't much of an upgrade at all in my experience.

    • +1

I agree, I am with Amaysim 4g and it's fine.

    • The mobile network is in a state of constant upgrade mode. Earliest 4G is much slower than the latest "4.5G". The latest 4G is very close to the first 5G matching the latency and speed.

I'm getting 2-3MB/S download which is enough for alot of streaming at 720p and light day to day useage.

Thanks PhoneNerd, bought 250GB for the old man. It will easily cover his PC internet use for the year too.

Any issues porting over from physical amaysim sim to Kogan eSIM?

    • Can I piggyback onto this question and ask about going to Kogan eSIM from Boost eSIM. Vodafone actually has better coverage where I live believe it or not.

  • I have this from the last black friday deal and the signal is absolutely awful. I get constant dropouts. Great deal but I wont be renewing. Please check your coverage before you buy.

    • It would be the same signal as Vodafone/Optus as they all use the same towers so Telstra is the only other option

    • Yeah, same here.
The addition of the Optus towers hasn't made any difference to me when I am at home….

What is the cheapest Telstra monthly or 365 day plan?

      • I'm going to find a boost deal when mine is up! Honestly can't be any worse than this!

  • +1

Just ordered. Physical sim and shipping was free.

  • Anyone got any feedback moving from a 5G (amaysim) to this 4G Kogan? - Is it really that noticable the drop in speed and latency? Gunna be moving from $30 to roughly $15 a month, so wondering if they decent saving is worth the drop of speed

    • It depends on your location.

      • I’m super central in Melbourne and don’t move out from there a whole heap

        • I'd test it out 1st before committing to a year plan. You could buy a 1 month SIM or ask your neighbours if they're on voda, but even then it might be different in your place.

          • @WatchNerd: I mean I’m on WiFi in my place, it’s mostly just around inner Melbourne which should be fine?
