    $499 wow.

Is there a full list anywhere of employers that can sign up to the Sony Partner Store? Hoping a close friend or family member will be eligible. Ta

  • -6

    It shows $499

    • +5

That means your organisation isn't eligible

    Damn good deal.

    Which corporate works?

  • I just ordered a pair! Thx!!!

  • Via which partner?

    • Great question, especially when people say they "Got them" but don't say with whom ….

  • -7

Sorry, would've bought these but went with the Buds4 Pro for $55 pre-order instead 😁

    • Where

      • $255 on the store -$200 voucher (expired now)

    • Same here! Student/corporate discount + $200 discount (expired now)

  • +2

    Waiting for ebay refurbished one🤣

I get that these are popular. But unsure why more popular than the Svanars . The hifiman svanars will most likely sound better in hi fidelity mode but also has an option for noise cancelling mode.

You don't buy BT earbuds just for sound, people also want good ANC, EQ, batterylife, call quality, etc. I have hifiman cans but don't know them for buds and doubt can compare in all these ways. Happy to be wrong, the price is good.

      • -1

There's a few yt vids out there doing comparison to previous gen Sony's.
I went from Sennheisers to the Hifiman and the sound improvement was quite sizeable. Also the battery life is pretty decent. But there is enough info out there on the Svanars vs xm5s
Anyway I'm just surprised. Anyway as long as people are happy with them that's all that matters.

Used to be a Sony fanboy but the design of these look like they went backwards. Used to love them as you couldn't see them bulging out like Frankenstein's monster but now….

    • Agree….the design has taken a step backwards imo.

  • Surely they're taking the piss with these prices. Has the intelligence of the human race dropped that low?

    • How much should they cost then?

      • +4

It's def overpriced at $499, but I'd say it's a deal at $299 for a flagship model with best in class ANC, not to mention 10% cashback from Shopback which brings it down to ~$270.

        • +7

I dunno who neg me but at the current economy $270 for top of the range earbuds with best in class ANC is reasonable imo.

        • Unfortunately cashback is ineligible for partner pricing(speaking from experience)

      • -2

Why the heck am I getting downvoted? It's a serious question. I'm not spending $300 on ANC earbuds either, but how much are we saying these are worth?

        • +1

Inflation has been off the rails these days, just buy buy buy.

You're luck if house, gpu, ram and soon storage prices hasn't made you numb yet.

I seriousness though, $300-400 is what you're paying for flagship tws buds from samsung/apple.

        • +2

I paid $320 for WF-1000XM4s. Have used them for 4 years nonstop and love them, still hold more than enough charge too.

        • Not sure what they are worth. Krisspy is right about prices. I paid $310 for the XM5 version 18 months ago. The lowest I saw since looking was around $280? The main issue I would warn you about is that they tend to fall out of my ears. If I'm eating or talking it happens even faster. So if you can check the fit before you buy it might be best. I'm sure it doesn't affect everyone but I tried all size tips and no matter what they would just slide out. I dropped them on the road twice and saved them and no longer wear them in public. Aside from that they are fantastic for sound quality, battery, ANC and the case size which also has a silicon slip on cover you can get from Ali express. I will probably switch back to Bose for earbuds. I also have Xm3 Sony headphones which are great too. Hth.

A LOT LESS!!!! $299 on special for these tiny things. You are insane if you don't think you're being stooged.

        • +2

So what would you recommend that performs comparable to this Sony for less money?

    • -1

Nah these are nothing, you should see the Intelligence of the average "audiophile". They'd tell you to go buy an amp that's 50% the cost of the headphones to "do them justice".

      • -2

The tardation of the human race never ceases to amaze me😅

  • +3

Can seem to find how to get access aside from that tiny list

  • been with Sony for a while even with battery issues on xm3s & xm4s, bought the samsung bud pro 4 this time though, my loyalty has limits :)

  • +1

Had the xm4s and they got replaced due to phantom touches, then the next pair likes to randomly disconnect at times. Also major issues with touching them (press once to pause and it will think you're holding it down and try and enable voice assist).

Have they improved at all? Battery is good, sound quality is alright but way too many issues for headphones of this price.

    • I cbf listing issues but would never buy sonys again.

    • -1

I've got 3 pairs of XM4's (all seconds) and 2 pairs of linkbuds S, no issues and I wear them pretty much 24-7 in QLD so humid and sweaty conditions.
Try inspecting them under magnifying app on your phone and see if you can spot any issues on the touch pad area, gently wipe them down with damp micro fibre cloth and brush any gunk away with an old toothbrush.

  • MKHBD kinda implied he prefers the Galaxy Buds 4Pro over these.

    • no BT multipoint though.

      • Whats that ? Like 2 devices connected at same time?

      • really? damnnn

  • +1

Signed up with a NSW Health email and didn't qualify for the discount.

  • Are these better than galaxy buds 4 pro?

    • -1

They aren't. All the reviews of them head to head show the Samsung ones are better on every category, including price.
Especially if you're an Android or Samsung phone.

But if you have an Apple phone, you're still better off with the AirPods.

      • I do have samsung and already have buds3 pro. But sony also get very positive feedback so was wondering if worth giving them a try

      • I just wish the Samsung had multipoint.

  • Is this an ongoing thing for Sony Partners? Or limited time?

  • -1

Samsung Earbuds 4 Pro are better and cheaper.

    • +3

      Have you tried both?

  • Anyone know much about the Sony trade-in cashback promotion? Seems this WF-1000XM6 is eligible for $60 trade-in cashback. The T&C just state a list of eligible pre-loved headphone BRANDS…so i assume any model of those brands would be fine? e.g i could simply trade in a cheap pair of E9LP In-ear Headphones and be eligible for $60 cashback?

    • +1

      This promo is pretty misleading.

Sony advertises it like you can trade in any headphones from the listed brands, but the fine print says cashback only applies to WH-1000XM4, WH-1000XM5, WF-1000XM5 or WH-1000XM6 (https://store.sony.com.au/trade-in-products.html)

I emailed Sony because I wanted to trade in my WF-1000XM4. They confirmed it’s “eligible for trade-in”, but when I asked whether that actually gets any cashback, they’ve stopped responding to my emails. Pretty poor form.

      I ain't giving them my WF-1000XM4 for nothing…

      • I'm fairly sure they don't really care what you're trading in (it gets recycled) and the credit you receive depends on what you're buying, not what you're trading in.
