LG 420L Bottom Mount Fridge

Uses the LG Smart Inverter Compressor rather than the problematic Linear Inverter Compressor that led to a class-action lawsuit
I've had this fridge myself since 2022 and it's been flawless

Free delivery with LG, but I think removal of an old appliance is an extra fee

Warranty: 2 Years parts and labour on the product + 3 years on sealed refrigeration system (compressor, evaporator, dryer and tubing) parts only + 5 years on compressor (part only). i.e. 10 years parts warranty on inverter compressor

Seems to me it's a bottom mount Freezer .

    • +3

It's common terminology. Fridge is the overall product term. Top mount/bottom mount refers to the freezer config without saying the word freezer.

Story implies fiction. In your favorite search engine enter: LG GB-455UPLE Now tell me what every single search result says in the first line. It's common industry terminology. Not sure how you haven't come across it before.

@tenpercent: Seems like you got an Icy reception to that comment.

@BlasterBoy: Icy reception? Not sure it's wifi connected.

Thanks. Didn't see the Education Hub ending. Should've gone to Specsavers…

  • Wait there's a compressor issue class action lawsuit? Thanks for letting me know, I think I had such an issue a whole back. I'll take a look at it.

These are the black friday special models which are usually $600.

They're crap our one all the freezer section has broken as the plastic is cheap and nasty. Turns brittle when frozen

  • Bought this fridge from Bing lee for $868 on December 2023 and it has been amazing. Moved houses 5 months ago and had to change the orientation of the doors and it was very simple to do. Can’t recommend this fridge enough.

Apparently, this model is a cheaper option and doesn't have reversible door and foldable shelf.

      • +1

Yeah indeed. I prefer the GB-455PL model. Picked up a 2 year old one on FB marketplace for $500 3 years ago. Previous owner had still left on the plastic so was in perfect condition.

I love how spacious it is inside and the folding shelf makes loading items very flexible! Veggie bin is HUGE!

Runs on very little power and is very quiet. I know this GB-455PL model has the linear compressor, and has been having huge issues overseas, but I haven't had any issues so far (touch wood) and not too worried given I bought it on Marketplace cheap, I'll just get another one if something happens.

It is only apparent to me how quiet running this LG fridge is when I visit other people's house and observe how noisy their fridges can be!

      • I’m pretty sure the model I have is GB455UPLE and the doors are reversible. No foldable shelf tho

Bought this fridge recently. There is also a $50 welcome voucher to the Partner Hub, bringing the total to $669.10.

Pros: Runs quiet, looks good, free delivery and removal of the old appliance.

Cons: Shelves are made from a very thin glass that bend under any kind of load (but haven't broken yet). The shelf spacing makes it hard to stack tall items (beer size or above), so they must be kept horizontally or on the door.

    • That voucher doesnt stack with this offer

        Strange, it did for me

  • Note: Freezer doesn't have any lighting…. might bother a few people like my waifu…. lolz

  • No stock in Brisbane :"<
