Could I Get Some Opinions on Standing Desks for My Office from Officeworks

I’m looking to add a sit-stand desk to a shared home office. Space is a bit tight since my wife already occupies one corner, so I’m aiming for something around 210cm x 80cm (though I can go slightly smaller if needed).

Looking at the Officeworks range, they all start to look the same after a while. Does anyone have experience with their specific models (Matrix, Stilford, etc.)? I’m specifically wondering:

· Which models are actually sturdy at full height?

· Are there specific features (dual motors, memory presets) I should prioritize?

I initially looked at Flexispot, but I’ve been put off by some of the negative feedback regarding their customer service. I’m leaning toward Officeworks for the ease of local returns if things go wrong, but I’m open to other "budget-friendly" suggestions that won't break the bank. Any hidden gems out there?

I have a manual wind up one from Officeworks. Cheap and cheerful, works perfectly.

  • I bought one from Temple and Webster, an Alywyn had really good reviews. It’s duel motors and was much cheaper than officeworks with delivery. A bit big for what you want though but check them out

  • Have you checked out 🇸🇪 IKEA?

    • Second this if you want guaranteed availability and easy returns/exchanges (also no risk of company going bust like Zen Desk).

I got the Ikea MITTZON desk for around $600 all up a few months ago and so far I've been happy with it. Wasn't that difficult to put together as well, I did everything myself.

      i have a Desky

do you have a Chairy ?

  • I bought a Desky a year or so ago and it's been great. Bit pricey, but it all went together perfect and I've had no issues. My wife got one from Elite Office Furniture and we had to drill the holes for the table top. It's not hard if you know what you're doing, but it's not as simple as a Desky.

    How often do you stand?

If not often, just get a regular desk, will be much cheaper and sturdier than a sit-stand. FWIW, I bought a sit-stand desk, used it for like 2 weeks, and ever since haven't used it standing again.

Basically a sit-stand desk is just a wood panel on a set of legs.

Your best bet is to get a reliable set of legs, then go to Bunnings or some other supplier and get a kitchen countertop or something like that as the panel on top. You can get something like an oak kitchen countertop for a pretty reasonable price, which would give it a much nicer look and feel than your standard MDF / melamine board.
