  • Listing says LP-DDR5.. The photos say ddr5 sodimm..

      Also 680m graphics

No. LP-DDR5 SO-DIMMs do not exist. LP-DDR5 is code for saying the RAM isn't in SO-DIMMs, it is soldered to the motherboard and so can't be upgraded. Most people would prefer the advantage of SO-DIMMs which is that the RAM capacity can be easily upgraded.

The processor used does support both DDR5 and LP-DDR5, but buyers would like to know which the mother board is designed to use.

That said, some manufacturers are socketing DDR5 RAM. You can pop the old smaller RAM chip out and push in a new bigger one. And you can use either DDR5 or LP-DDR5. But its not as easy as swapping memory modules.

Wow, costs less than a 32GB DDR5 kit of RAM

    • comes with non famous brand DDR5-4800 only….

      • Yeah and then an entire computer lmao

  • This or mac mini?

    • +1

More bang for buck easily with this, mac mini has it's purpose too, just depends what you're after & what you're doing with it.

    • +1

The Mac mini is no slouch, it depends on what you want to use it for.

    • For most people probably the mac mini, which outperforms this significantly. For server use get this.

  • Gaming?

I’m waiting on some ppl to complain about malware on these mini pc’s

    • +12

      2 minutes later

  • +2

I heard these things are full of malware

    • +11

With Microsoft trying their damndest to turn Windows 11 into an always-online, automatically-updating, and slop-laden mess, the only way to avoid malware at this point is to uproot everything and install your preferred flavour of Linux.

Using any pre-25H2 iso + rufus and making sure you don't have the ethernet connected and choosing "I don't have internet" during initial setup allows you to skip the microsoft account requirement. The heidoc download tool is good for getting the iso. You can then upgrade to 25H2 and keep the account local.

It's getting worse and worse though, I imagine there will be an update you can't install without an account in the future.

        • I believe the start ms-cxh:localonly workaround still works on 25H2.

        • There is a workaround for current win 11.
On the very first landing page, where it asks you to select your country,
          Press 'Shift+F10' to open terminal
Type either 'oobe/ nrobypass' or 'oobe/ bypassnro' (I cant remember exactly which way)
          done.

Now it will reboot, and you dont have to connect, and you can use a local account without a password

dont forget to use shutup10++ by O&O Software to easily disable all the spyware

        i found saying, i don't mind windows 11 but… xyz issue (pick a problem!)

i have shared using zorin os (linux/ ubuntu)

so far apart from games being kernal level anti- cheat , it just runs

feels like it's an os working for me, not against!

It's not 2024 anymore and they don't ship with malware now. Always reinstall Windows via bootable USB to be sure there's nothing included.

      • I heard those bootable USB's are full of malware

        • If you consider Windows 11 to be malware sure. Nah what you do is you download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft, insert your USB flash drive and it'll create a bootable USB stick for reinstallation.

Alternatively you can use Rufus to do the same if you want to skip Windows 11 hardware requirements checks for older computers etc.

    • How much more spring can they do more than google or Microsoft?

I recommend spending $100 more and get this unit instead

    https://amzn.asia/d/0dInOmmo

    Almost everything is better

    • +1

Yeah, I'd spend the extra. Better CPU, GPU and more storage. Arguably better efficiency. But it's a fair call to go for the slightly lower option for $100 less.

    • World you know if this will have no issues running half life Alyx with a quest 2 attached?

      • +1

        I don't know. I don't game. It's a beast and I have one!

      • +1

The 780M iGPU in that PC is weaker than the GTX 1060 listed in the minimum requirements.

    • does it have occulink? if not can you recommend something with one with similar specs and occulink

    • Does anyone know if you you could change the ram to 6000mhz, and whether it would in fact make a difference?

      • You could change it to 5600mhz SODIMM DDR5 , and yes - performance increases with more clocks. You'll get a few percent improvement, maybe up to 10 in the best case? It'll only be a few frames.

Some of these sell with 4800, whilst others with 5600 - depends on the vendor, and now I imagine RAM will be crazy prices.

    • Would you able to get 1080 resolution on elder ring on this?

    • There's always a better PC.

Seems good enough for Plex? Or time to move to Jellyfin with its hardware transcoding for AMD
