  • Tempting purchase.

My roborock S5 max battery is almost shot, so this might be a nice side grade

Buy a battery from AliExpress and replace it is pretty easy there are plenty of videos. I did that and my S5 gain endurance

    • My original S5 still going strong on second battery.
I just pulled it apart on the weekend to clean out the internal dust, something I now do annually following changing the battery and discovering just how disgusting it gets in there!
It's easy enough to do, just a kazillion screws to remove, but there's a notable performance increase after doing it.
Dustbin was absolutely chock-a block this morning, despite daily cleans that only days ago were only part filling the dustbin..

  • Does this come with the docking station that empties and refills water?

  • Wonder how local Xiaomi warranty handling will be?

    • I had issues with them. They restrict claims through the app if made after 30 days

Who else sees Cookie Monster's bionic child 😜🤣

  • Its my first robovac, is it really too much trouble to regularly (how often?) empty the dust bin out? The other products with the larger bin/dock is almost 2x the price (X20+ for $599) with less feature compared to s40 pro.

    • Depending on how big and dirty your house is you'll be emptying it almost every time. Maybe every 2 times

      • And how often you send the vac around. First time in a week in my house and I need to empty it mid-clean…

      • Thanks! hardwood living area, approx 80sqm. we usually vaccum in between during the day. Im thinking maybe I can get this to run in the evening.

You really do need a dust-bin dock, because you won’t enjoy cleaning the dust bin every now and then. Not only is it inconvenient, but it’s also not great for your health to handle all the dust.

      • thanks! do you know how signficantly inferior x20+'s 6000Pa vs 15,000 in S40pro?

My 3‑year‑old Roborock S7 MaxV — which was the flagship at the time — only has “5100 Pa” of suction on paper, and no one ever complained it wasn’t strong enough. I actually run mine on medium for daily cleaning because the max mode is unnecessarily loud. At this point, suction numbers feel more like a marketing race than something that makes a real difference in everyday use.

          • @OzComment: Thanks! I bought the x20+ from amazon instead. I feel that I will regrest getting something that doesnt have the base/bin.

    • Seriously consider this one from bunnings. I have had it for a few months and it is absoluetly fantastic for the money:

    • Compared to doing the vacuuming by hand, emptying the dustbin is not at all inconvenient.
I run ours daily and generally empty the dustbin daily (unless I forget). Been doing it for 5 years now.
Takes maybe 60 seconds total including going outside to bang out the filter.

When our S50 finally dies, I'd consider upgrading to a Robovac with a larger dock, although I'd have to think about where we'd actually locate such a behemoth! Sure as hell ain't going to fit in the current location!

  • This is first time seeing rotating mop pad vac without dock. How easy are they to clean. Manually
