    good price

Now a standard price if anything. They and China Southern seem to have a sale monthly now so you wouldnt pay full price again, other than peak periods.

    • China Southern does very cheap business class as well

      • And their business class is better than qantas tbh

        • +2

pretty much most airlines are better than qantas business class lol

Can only see one seat per flight at this price unfortunately

Is it possible to get off at GZ

And avoiding the beijing leg altogether.

They might cancel your return flight if you do that

    • No.

  • european routes all canceled.

  • Cannot find any of the Syd - Sha advertised dates/price

  • +1

Can find any deals at those prices.

Pity they won't offer the same price for flights to GZ where it stops over.

      Common airline practice, however.

Anyway, OT, FWIW, I have been flying a lot of Xiamen Airlines in the past six months, and I am impressed with their overall product, especially the 789 that they fly to Australia.

I would love to do a long transit - think 2-5 days in XMN - but when I try doing this, the price doubles or more. Booked on Xiamen again in three weeks, coming back to Sydney. I need to go to Japan after Easter, so its $400 one way with Xiamen, or like $900 one way with Qantas, Japan, or ANA. You can't even get $400 with Jetstar these days, well maybe without baggage, but you add baggage and seat selection, and that bumps up the price by $150 or so.

really? I have been able to extend the layover no problem w/ xiamen (similar to china southern). I just looked at some random dates and found a 3 day layover in Xiamen for $421 (syd-xia-tokyo). 10 april to xiamen, 13 april to tokyo

I recommend using booking.com to play w/dates. it is quite good for this niche use case (extending layovers)

Cool, thanks for this suggestion :) I will give it a go.

    • Very annoying practice, however, if you like exploring and travelling it's not a bad idea to get a cheap (compared to price of GZ) ticket to Wuhan, Xiamen, etc and take a bullet train back to GZ (use 12306 mini app in alipay!). Yeah you waste some time but you get to see a new city and from the savings you can easily book accommodation and transport and still be in the green.

    • Do you understand supply and demand?

    • For GZ try Hainan Airlines which stops over at Haikou. Did that last year for under $600 return. They have sales quite regularly.

  • Thanks OP can't find cheap flights for Nov. We're wanting to go back and see Family.

  • they get the advantage to fly to Euro, which cross Russia instead of Middle east.

    • Russia doesn't have the best history regarding not shooting down passenger aircraft…

      • cant argue with it…

      • +2

they don't do that to china aircraft. too powerful to mess around.

    • Only downside is if you have to divert for some emergency… guess where it'll land with Russia in every direction for hundreds of km…

      • still less risky than transit through middle east area I assume

        • Best option currently would be SE Asia such as Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia. There are corridors over the middle east which are fine, i.e. skirting around Iran and going over Georgia to get to Europe. Plenty of diversion places that are fine in those areas.

I wonder if these flights are prone to be cancelled at the last minute….

Oops that's only flights to Japan.

    :p

  • That is a nearly 23 hour travel time on the PER to SHA cheap ticket!
For a trip that should take about half that time.
Anything to do in Guangzhao for 12 hours…???

  • When does the sale end?
