From my old post, might be of interest to some..

Have the 85 inch version of the C7K.

    Honestly cannot fault it.

    PROS
    - Super bright, highlights with a black background are blindingly bright!
    - VERY deep blacks, minimal/no haloing (2500+ zones)
    - Glossy w/ a glare reduction coating
    - Awesome for gaming (144hz 4K / 1080p upto 288hz)
    - GoogleTV OS is buttery smooth
    - Response times, input lag all fantastic

    CONS
    - Speakers are meh like most TVs (get a soundbar)
    - There is very minor motion blur at low frame rates, eg. 30fps games and 24fps sports like AFL/NRL
    - Upscaling is OK, it's not on Sony's level for example. 480p/720p doesn't look great on 85 inches.

    9/10 would recommend!

    • would the 55" be good?

    • The c7k is a very well reviewed TV indeed but it only has about 1,500 dimming zones. The C8K has the 2,500+. Does this mean a lot, not really as it’s still pretty damn impressive panel and very much OLED-like according to owners that have made the comparison.

      • Not as many dimming zones but the C7K has much better blacks than the C8K, making it the better viewing experience for dark environments. The C8K only excels in bright rooms with direct sunlight.

        • You sure about that? Isn’t that where dining zones excel?

          • +1

@EitherWayUp: According to rtings measurements. Both tv's have the same contrast ratio. The C8K gets brighter so it's lifting the blacks correspondingly. These aren't oleds - at any given time the blacks are tethered to brightest part of the image. Dimming zones can only do so much. Plenty of side-by-side comparisons now.

            • @wishing well: Hmm.. interesting, I just assumed the more zones the better its ability to black out more sections in dark scenes. However, the C8K panel apparently has better viewing angles and yeah if your TV is outside you’ll see it clearer but the brightness of the C7K is certainly no slouch.

              • @EitherWayUp: For sure more dimming zones are better but they can't overcome physics. For the C8K to have the same black levels would necessitate a higher contrast ratio. As the tv gets brighter so does the black floor.

                • @wishing well: Good point re higher brightness potentially washing things out, but surely the 85C8K would address this with significantly more dimming zones plus refined Halo Control tech? The physics concern would be valid in a normal LED but I would have thought TCL would have tweaked this to at least match the black levels of the C7K whilst adding some extra stuff for the $500 difference.

            • @wishing well: Hisense has their RGB backlit models now, pretty sure somewhere I saw them claim to be better than OLED.
Don't see how RGB backlighting will make a difference to blacks though.

    • have the 85" as well

awesome picture and sound and the pricing is the icing on the cake

unfortunately rtings have just recently pay walled all their scores, but here is the link anyway https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/qm7k

it ranked as the best lower mid range tv (the c8k was the best mid range) https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/best/tvs-on-the-market

      • +2

Rtings going paywall is a sad day

      • Sound too? I have the 75", not sure how different they are but while I was impressed with the little subs it has, the rest of the frequency range is still terrible IMO.

    • -2

Motion blur occurs at 120, 144 fps for me, it’s very noticeable and off putting

  • C7K 75" not even available to order online at TGG

For C8K, TGG is manipulating the price. It was 2995, then 3995, and now back to 2995 today

  • I noticed the cheapie JVC mini led has two large -ish mid range speakers on the back firing on the front glass.

While the normal JVC backlit TVs looked like trash, the mini led looked like it had some thought put into it.

    Brightness .. plenty.

    Upscaling / latency/ motion processing…no.idea..

    • Given the stunt LG and Samsung pulled for their 2025 entry level mini LED TVs, I wouldn't trust getting a cheap mini LED TV without a proper review.

For LG and Samsung, it is now possible to classify a TV as mini LED TV if it has edge lit LEDs only and have only 5 local dimming zones (as long as the backlight uses mini LEDs instead of standard LEDs).

      • +1

Ahhh, that explains why their energy consumption stickers are 1/4 of everyone else.

  • +3

waiting for any 85 inch deals

    • -2

I clicked through and it looks like there is one 85" available from this deal, lot of hype over the TCL but wouldn't you rather have a Sony hanging on your wall?

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/949369

      • Different type of panel. This one is mini LED, Sony's one is full array LED. The main difference is a proper mini LED TV has way more local dimming zones.

Sony doesn't make TV panels, even that Sony TV panel could be from TCL. Software / firmware and upscaling wise, Sony might be better.

      • Reviews put it on par with the C7K, trading blows between the C7K having slightly better HDR/dimming and the Sony having better motion control and upscaling result.

  • Holding off on c8k as well, just 65 will do me

    • 75 for me.

    • You won't regret it… I've got the 65C8K and it is awesome.

      • -1

I bet. I've read reviews and seen YouTube videos looks amazing. I've got an LG and the blacks are horrible :(

  • Do you reckon JB Hi-fi will price match?

    • Yes

      • +1

Purchased through JB Hi-fi. Called their hotline and can confirm that they price matched.

        • Why JB?

          • @MJD91: Giftcards. Local availability. Looks like its on backorder so ozbargained.

Delayed delivery, subject to incoming stock from supplier

No one got that TGG deal yesterday. All orders were cancelled.

    • +1

Some people obtained via very fast click and collect I believe.

      • photos or it didnt happen :-P

        • +2

Photo provided by an OZBer who got one: https://ibb.co/TqbSHZnr

For more info, read comment from the OZBer who picked up his LG TV today.

Another OZBer apparently also got one, but didn't provide a photo.

          • @netsurfer: wow good on them! bet some staff members are in big trouble lol

            • @BargainHunterD: Yes, the OZBer is renting so happy for him that he managed to get one at $584.
Pity the staff member(s) didn't fat finger on an 77 inch OLED TV lol.

    Too soon :(

Bing Lee are A*holes. I bought the C7K a few weeks back… had to wait 2-3 weeks for delivery … then got an email saying actually it was goiung to be delayed further and I'd have to keep waiting. Got the refund, bought the TV through Appliances Online (matched the lowest price I could find), delivered and set up the next day.

  • +12

Just pulled the trigger for 75C7K in Appliances Online for $1330. Delivery scheduled for tomorrow.

Appliances online price matched Bing Lee's $1380 and then asked them to use the discount code PF50 for $50 discount.

    • +4

Deal is always in the comments!

    • +1

Inspired by your username, I just did the same.

That seems a pretty bloody good price, and while it may get cheaper I also don't want to miss out again.

Thank you for taking the time to post, and I can confirm appliances online will add the extra $50 discount. The free next day delivery is pretty good too…

      Cheers,

      • Pulled the trigger on this! The $50 did not apply.

        • For price match quotes they apply the price difference as a discount and you can only use one code.
Would have to get a nice CSR that reduces the price further to include any extra discounts I think.

    • They aren't budging, care to share your invoice? :)

    • Got the same deal through web chat , awesome deal. I also learned my lesson and called Bing Lee to cancel my order.

      • @punky

what you say to them? my one said oh they dont include delivery and that they cant match and use a code.

        • +2

Spoke to a guy named Thomas. The process was really smooth after I sent him the Bing Lee link. I also asked if I could use the PF50 coupon and he said of course no questions asked, then sent me the invoice to pay. $1330 including delivery, delivery will be on 11th as the new stock will arrive on 9th he said.

    • Got this but delivery has blown out to 7 april.

No issues though if a better deal comes along can refund andgo with that.

  • +1

I picked up a C6K for around $900 last year as a secondary TV. My main TV is an OLED, and I honestly find the C6K to be reasonably comparable as a viewing experience. Extremely good picture quality for the price. I would imagine the C7K would offer a similarly good price to performance ratio.

  • 65" version would be perfect for my loungeroom - hopefully they also drop that one by an equivalent amount and get it down to / under 1k

  • -2

If you’re interested in this TV for gaming then steer clear, the motion blur is horrendously bad and there’s no way to fix it, plenty of cases online about it

    • -1

Is this the same for the C8K?

      • +1

Not sure sorry, I only have the c7k but I believe it’s a mini led issue so it might have the same issue, the unlit leds can’t activate fast enough from black to colour so it smears in a way

        • It's not actually an issue caused by Mini LED (which is backlight technology). It is an issue with the actual panel, which is HVA (VA based). Some people don't notice it as much. For example, my brother has absolutely no issue with VA panels, but they do annoy me.

It is a pity rtings reviews are no longer free to public. The video review only shows the 144Hz result and it did quite well at 144Hz for a VA panel.

IPS vs VA response time / motion blur. However, that's at lower refresh rate. Higher refresh rate does help.

          • @netsurfer: Great info, cheers, I will say however that updating the firmware helped me but I had to get firmware that isn’t available to us in Australia via a telegram chat

            • @Lebofly: Which firmware did you update to?

              • @cyrax83: I think it was 612 which was the latest OTA update

                • +1

@Lebofly: ok thanks i'll check out the telegram chat tonight and update

                • @Lebofly: Just had a look at mine and see I'm on v509 Android 12 which it's been telling me is the latest version.

After seeing your comment did some digging and I see they are running Android 14 as of v590 and currently up to v624. While it's supposed to be much snappier and includes quick media switching and super resolution upscaling, apparently Accessibility features have been restricted which breaks 3rd party launchers (I'm running Projectivity on mine) and other apps that rely on it.

As far as your issues go, not sure if it would help but saw this comment on another channel (translated) so maybe a newer update would be better.

It's worth it, v622 is perfect in everything, movement, SD image from unitvnet, HD from apps, phenomenal upscaling, only if v613 here was very bad, but this v622 is perfect for 75c7k, fluidity has also improved a lot, clearer image

                  • @bamzero: Also just noticed that 613 is latest available OTA update, 622 and 624 are IMG only and will erase everything during the update. Good to know it's easy to downgrade to previous version with IMG files though.

Also just learnt of the Apps Only mode under account settings to remove most of the bloat in the default launcher. Bit more tolerable now if I have to go without a custom launcher.

Does anyone know how to get rid of that damn Airplay, get it off my Inputs menu and stop the TV reminding me to set it up every time. I disabled the Airplay app via ADB but still it persists. (Nevermind, I had disabled AirplayAPK but there was another one AirPlayLaunchService that was the culprit.)

                  • @bamzero: Went ahead and installed v624 and I think there’s a noticeable improvement now, additionally VRR shows as on when previously it’d just show as “/“

                    • @Lebofly: Good to hear. I'm holding off for now, hoping an OTA version becomes available since I can't be bothered setting everything up again :)

Still mainly using my old S905X android box running Coreelec at the moment, might migrate everything to the onboard google later but for now it's handling everything but Dolby Vision great.

      • +1

On my 85" C8K ive had no problems with ghosting or any gaming issues at 120fps

      • It depends on the person (some people notice it more). Mini LED is just the backlight technology, C7K and C8K are both VA panels. VA panels tend to have more noticeable motion blur, especially at lower refresh rate. Higher refresh compensates / reduces this issue. However, if you compare to an IPS monitor side by side at the same refresh rate, there is a decent chance you will notice it, especially at lower refresh rate. So, if possible, run the TV at highest refresh rate, especially when playing games.

TCL dominates Mini LED TV market so HVA (which is still VA based) is what you get. All panel technologies have pros and cons.

  • Typical rort/click bait offer……sellers continue to send offers that they cannot actually do.

I live in 2450 postcode and the system says unable to deliver to my postcode…dunno why they say "[NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD] TCL 75" C7K 4K UHD QD-Mini LED TV (2025) $1,355 + Delivery ($0 to Select Areas / C&C) @ Bing Lee"

    • Maybe no stores nearby. Try price matching with others?

  • Snagged for $1,280 delivered tomorrow. Consolation prize after good guys cancelled my $650 order yesterday :(

    • Nice, how you get it for that price?

      • I asked appliance online for the best price and managed to get that. Might have just got lucky with the person

        • Care to share your receipt? :)

    • Not a chance you got it for $1,280

      • Why would I lie…

    • I messaged their live chat today and asked for a discount after providing the above link for price matching. They got it down to $1290 for me. Delivery is tomorrow as well.

    • I got in TGG live chat, turns out they still have stock so I got a price match and got to use the $80 credit.

  • Just purchased it! Replacing c855 which was purchased less than 7 months ago. My 2year threw cereal bowl in it..

    Thanks ozbargainers for both deals..

    • Ah sorry to hear that man. Kids.

    • Looks like I'm not the only one. My youngest destroyed my tv a year or 2 ago. I since keep a diy tv cover made out of the shipping box on it now during the day… not the prettiest but it does the job

      • They have cover for everything, phones, ipads why not for TV??

  • Price gone :(

  • TV delivered. Thanks OP

    • Happy with it?

      • Will set it up soon

  • +1

Ended up pulling trigger on a 65" for $1,270. Can't find a better price anywhere… Almost all 75" stock has gone and my current TV just crapped itself, so can't wait.
