  • Not an XT chief

Link and store has been changed, so now it is the XFX Swift from Centre Com instead of the 9070 reaper from PC Case gear.

      • +12

        Is good deal chef

        • +1

Some would say, bro is cooking

  • +2

this is 9070 not 9070xt, might want to change the title.

    • +6

Updated the post with the correct link. Sorry for the confusion.

  • -2

    Not the XT

    • +11

Posted as I was waking up so I kinda fumbled it. Updated to the correct deal.

  • +1

    But it says XT?

    • -1

      CentreCom web guy on XTC?

  • +18

Sorry for fumbling the initial post guys, bit early in the morning. It set my price alarm off on pcpartpicker and thought it was from pc case gear.

  • +6

Now i just need a 700 dollar 9070 non xt so i can pair it with my 3600 and bottleneck the shit out of my system until Ram doesnt cost more than buying a child.

    • +5

Child still costs more in the long run

      • +3

        Only if you have solar

    • Get an AliExpress Ryzen 5700x, I upgraded my friends 3600 to that and it has helped him get a few more years out of the PC.

Looks like the cheap ones on there are around $212 now but it was $150 when we bought his one at the start of October.

      • Damn, are there similar deals for say the 5700X3D? I have a 3700x and looking for upgrade options for that too. Also what happened to your friend's 3600? Is it worth selling or just keeping it for another build

        • There was 5700x3ds at that price, I've been searching for a while but I don't think they are in production anymore so unsure what to do. I also have a 3700x

  • +12

Insane that its only a few $ more than 9070 and cheaper than lowest priced 5070 by $30. Crazy to buy nvidia 5070 or 5070ti with the difference in pricing now.
Inb4 dlss 4.5 or rt and pt comments come up. With that price difference its safe to say we dont care :)

    • +22

I have a 5070ti, even if you highly value the NVIDIA feature set. It's still not worth $450 more, not even close. Especially as it's roughly the same raw performance.

You'd be silly to buy an NVIDIA card right now.

      • +5

Nice to see an Nvidia 5070ti user having good sense. Usually its followed by attacking 9070xt to justify paying more for the 5070ti with their better tech. Dont get me wrong 5070ti is a good card and I even posted deals for it, but in current times it just cant compete unless prices go down for it too.

      • +2

Another 5070Ti owner who would recommend the 9070 XT, especially at this price.

If I had the money to spare, I'd grab this for my old AMD 5800X build to give it a bit more life.

        • +2

Also bought a 5070ti in second half of 2025. Happy with my purchase but 9070XT for this price would be an easy purchase.
Plus you get added linux support which is very tempting if trying to get off Windows.

    • +3

just wish they'd drop the 9070 price a little accordingly (or even stock to begin with!)

    • +4

Well if rumours are true Nvidia doesn’t even want to sell you 5070tis lol

      • +6

They probably can't be arsed either way, gaming is now less than 10% of their revenue

    • +9

I am salty that a lot of industry is reliant on CUDA as I needed to grab an NVIDIA card recently for certain applications so chose a 5070ti as the best compromise. Would have been stoked with a 9070xt for $400~ cheaper but NVIDIA still has a lot of people over a barrel and it sucks.

  • He Guys, is the Red Devil better than this card?

    • +1

Yeah but its the difference worth it

    • +7

I think it may run cooler but it should have similar performance. I personally have this xfx swift and it's run cool and quiet enough for me.

    • +4

I would say it is is max $50-$100 dollars better. Anything more and it is not worth it. It mainly gets you a little more OC headroom. All 9070XT run reasonably cool so cooling performance is not very important.

    • +4

Hardware unboxed says it runs 1 degree cooler at 40 db noise normalised, and has a 5% faster clock speed.

Considering current PGrid.au prices you would be better off with the Sapphire Pulse if you absolutely need that 5%. Same clock and noise normalised temp as the Hellhound but cheaper (989 at mwave).

Compared to this one you'd still be paying 10% more for 5% clock speed though.

    • Only if you're willing to pay for binning.
The strong odds are that you will be able to tune your card to be more performant regardless of the model you buy as the factory settings are for maximum laxity and stability across the full range of viable silicon.

      • I've had pretty decent luck with this same card I got this week. Undervolting and overclock has it running up to around 3400Mhz in some games

  • +1

wow, a triple fan 9070 XT

    • +3

      most XT's are triple fanned?

      • yeah exactly, not sure why they state this is a triple fan model when thats the norm

        • I just copied the title off centrecom. There was a batch of dual fan 9070 xt swifts last year when stock was low but I think it's all triple fans nowadays.

  • +8

I don't even need a GPU and am considering buying this.

  • +11

Prices will go down because no one can rally afford to build gaming PCs anymore. No surprises….

  • +5

Got this card during Black Friday. Runs great. Picked it over the steel legend because it’s heavier. Extra weight is better cooling.

    • How much did you mate?

      • He did for our when.

      • How much did you pay for it @Stevo2281?

  • +5

Very quiet and cool running card, I don’t think I’ve seen mine go above 60 while gaming, which is pretty impressive.

    • +2

Check the core hotspot temp, it's far more important than the core edge. All 9070xt's have great edge temps (45-60c) but the HS varies significantly, anywhere from 75c-105c and largely due to HSF mount and/or GPU die surface imperfections. Not so much about the model/brand.

HS is the sensor used to control fan speeds and core boost at the bios/driver level. So a "bad" hotspot delta (35c-45c) means you'll have a much louder card.

I've had two identical cards, one with a nice 25-30c core to HS delta, and the other with 38-45c delta, the latter runs around 800+ more RPMs at the exact same load test, stock tune settings.

  • I thought it was a Lego set.

  • Finally bit the bullet. Hopefully my 9060XT retains some value and I can sell it for a good price later in the year. XFX makes great cards.

  • Overkill for a 5600gt wird ddr4?

    • a little overkill for 1080p, on the limit for 1440p,

    • I've got one with a 10700kf i7 and 32gig 3200mhz ddr4, gaming at 1440 seems fine.

  • Why is 9070 so expensive in comparison? Can't fit triple fan in my case.

  • +1

this is the price just for the RAM - you get the whole GPU for free

  • +1

My son wants a video card upgrade for his birthday at the end of the month, do I try to have him wait an extra month? Was going to get a 9060xt 16gig but the 9070xt might be closer to $600 than the $1100 it was when we decided on 9060xt if we wait a little?

    • +7

The 9070XT will not drop to $600

      • +1

Didn't say it would. It's already $200 less than when we were looking though, may be a lot closer to the $600 mark I was looking at for a 9600XT 16gig if we wait and I might stretch to that instead.

    • You pay a little more for a better gain, a very valuable buy. And you can enjoy the card right now. Let's not delay satisfaction for no reason.

      • 3 week early birthday presents tend not to give the big smile when unwrapping on actual day though.

        • You can purchase the item now and wait to give it later; I wouldn't count on card prices dropping. As parents, we can also consider giving multiple gifts for a birthday. We could gift the GPU now, and something flashy and cheap on the actual birthday for show.

          • @l0nglive: Also as a parent we could give multiple gifts on the actual birthday and make it an even bigger day.

I'm commenting on the fact that the prices have already gone down heh.

  • +2

This is hilarious. No one can afford pc's that can keep up with high end gpu's anymore so demand has dropped off the cliff. By this notion we should see AM5 motherboards go down too.

Now all us AM4 bawlers wondering how far over the top is a 9070xt with a 5500.

    • I think everyone is wondering who will win - GPUs using "AI ram" and increasing ins price or lower prices due to system ram and nobody buying pcs

    • +1

Now they've announced bringing the 5500X3D to the Chinese market we'll have another cheap option for more performance soon

    • +2

It's just AMD graphics card falling off. They produced way too much and initially priced too high dor when times were a little better last year.

      • Exactly. Nvidia has diverted most of their enterprise hardware production away from consumer hardware and demand is still up, which is why there’s no real discounts on them yet.

    • +2

      bawlers? do you mean ballers?

  • +2

worth noting that xfx cards are bloody huge so double check dimensions of your case if you're rocking an sff one like me

    • I thought mine was tiny (swapping out from an RTX 3090)

    • +1

Not just in length, but also girth.

This is a 3.5 slot card, vs the 2 slot reaper or 2.5 slot hellhound.

It may overhang other slots/components, so you need to check your mobo if you're using any of the other slots.

It looks like the hellhound & reaper are still available for $949 from centrecom. It's probably only worth the extra cost if size is a concern.

  • The funny thing is they didn't want my money on Monday ($930 price match was far too low).

    • +9

Computer stores rarely ever price match as margins are low. These discounts are usually driving the the manufacturers and not the retailers.

    • -1

$10 cheaper, but I would probably spend the extra $10 for an XFX card compared to the slightly worse quality Sapphire Pulse and Gigabyte card.

      • +2

More so signalling prices are heading lower and lower. I'd go with this post as well if I were buying, smart moves!

Personally holding out until The Witcher 4 releases. No point buying now when prices are on the decline

        • For sure the smarter thing to do. It does look like the RX 9070 XT is decreasing in price, other cards have not had the same decrease in price though.

Nvidia Cards are more expensive than they have been in the past, and I don't see that changing.

      • What about the Sapphire Nitro+?
Or are you just referring to Sapphire cards in general?

        • +1

Sapphire on the usual is one of the better companies to buy from, I was just comparing the XFX Swift vs the Sapphire Pulse. Sapphire Nitro is excellent except for the fact it has the new power connector that's sometimes caused issues on some NVIDIA and AMD cards, though the chances of that occuring are probably as high as just a dead card in general.

    • Shipping not included though, just tested it and got $19 for delivery to Melbourne.

    • Was waiting for a deal on the sapphire card! Cheers

    • Thanks mate. I just bought one.

  • -1

The card was released a year ago, we shouldn't be surprised to see prices finally dropping…

    • +4

how long ago was ddr5 released

      • -1

Data centres aren't buying these things up to run LLMs.

For more irrelevant comparisons, many houses in Brunswick were built in the 1930s yet they cost a lot more now than they did 90 years ago.

    • Yeah that's not necessarily how this works..

      • -1

Where is the latent demand for these coming from, that should be causing their prices to rise?

Without that, as tech gets older, it gets cheaper. Only moreso in the current market where DDR5 system memory prices are making it very unappealing for most punters to build a new gaming PC in 2026.

        • +1

You are right but you have to consider GPUs have RAM and that should make them scarce, if not now it will be soon. So them going down in price will not be a long trend.

  • Currently have a 5800X3D and a 6800XT. Im wondering if this is worth the upgrade as the price point is compelling.

My 6800XT is 3.5 years old and holds up well.

    • no one can answer that for you but yourself.
$899 would mean different things to different people/in different circumstances
if you have the disposable income and you game enough to warrant the upgrade then do it…
you would prob get 3-400 back on the 6800xt?

      • Well mostly because of the crapshow that is with ram and I have 64gb of DDR4 already, thinking whether its worth to stay on the AM4 platform and just upgrade the GPU.

I could sell the 6800xt but I did de-shroud it for better thermals.

        • +1

I mean with the 5800x3d there's no reason at all to upgrade

          • @Badger2066: Including not upgrade the GPU?

            • @nedski: Up to you, I upgraded my Rx 6800 non Xt because I couldn't play Clair Obscure Expedition 33 at 1440p at max settings without upscaling.

But that Cpu should last you a for more years

    • What resolution are you playing on? If it's 1440p or above and you like having all the bells and whistles turned up, this would be a decent upgrade.

      • Thanks! Probably pull the trigger tonight.

  • I have a 7800xt with 5500 CPU. Worth the upgrade? I only have 2k monitor. Not really into ray tracing and not really liking fsr (unless it improves).

    • +1

Check this video out, bench marks for 2k monitor. I'd say worth an upgrade but that really depends on your needs

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl3yJLVOrsw

    • +1

I've got the same as you except I've got an ultrwaide. I bought my 7800xt the day the oz prices were released for 9070 and 9070xt (about a year ago). I said I'd buy the 9070 if it was under $1k, so that's how I ended up with the 7800xt.

  • Got it. Now to decide on 4 or 1440p

    • +1

The 9070XT is much more comfortable at 1440p, though 4K is definitely playable. Depends on how old of a game you're playing and/or if you're willing to chuck on upscaling and/or frame gen

    • +1

      4K is doable with FSR 4 + Frame Gen around 60+ to 90fps for a UE5 game

      • Would shooters like bo7 and arc go well? If settings like ray turned off

Not sure if the payoff for better visuals is worth a potential roughness in gameplay
