Updated code for this deal from @Tachicuddles: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/949801

I tested it with PowerColor Reaper 9070XT, Hellhound 9070XT, Zotac RTX 5090 and it seems to shave 5% off.

Is this due to the fact building a decent 1440p system from scratch costs something out of reach for the average joe gamer? Like I've tried helping my 12yo cousin build a budget ryzen AM4 system from some used parts.. still comes to $850 with a RX 6600..

Ended up buying a PS5 slim on marketplace for $380, PC gaming seems so out of reach for many now.

    • I legit made the decision end of 2025 that I'd get back into PC's and then it went to shit (again).

Back to consoles I guess, until this nonsense overflows into that as well.

If you don't already have one, I suggest buying a solid console now before they realise that's another potential point to screw the consumers at*

*This is not sound advice, do so at your own peril, or whatever.

      Edit: (profanity) Samsung.

They are just preparing everyone for paid streaming services.

        • Subscription to even have a console proba ly, stop paying and they'll repo the PlayStation along with your left hand.

Streaming games won't work for many of us with the state of our internet, coming next election cycle: NBN 2.0!

Probably the best decision and it will be like this for a while till more of these ai companies succumb to their record losses and investor bailout cash dries up. OpenAi had to go running to the military this week for contracts to stay afloat I assume it's already starting. Good time to get into retro gaming, many titles back then had more care put into them anyway.

  • What's the best 9070 XT to get if you have no constraints around size?

Should ask ChatGPT, and then laugh at the irony.

Probably the cheapest one. e.g. the XFX swift from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/950323

The XFX swift is 3.5 slots (i.e. requires 4 case slots total), so make sure your motherboard slots are spaced that far apart (or you don't care/don't have anything plugged into the non-GPU slots).

That one also has slightly lower OC clocks than e.g. the Hellhound. It probably makes bugger all difference in reality.

    • The best ones are the saphire nitro+ and the XFX mercury oc. But they aren't worth the price premium.

  • So tempting, but don't really need. 3080ti still alright, but upgraders itch…

Dang, purchased a Power Color Hellhound 9070XT yesterday from PCCG without this deal, shipped already so can't cancel :( Oh well, only $50 difference.

Does anyone know if PCCG is doing the Crimson Desert promotion on AMD cards?

    • I feel you. I was about to pull the trigger on a Hellhound from centrecom - but thought I'd do a google search and found this code from pccg. For once procrastination paid off.

Yes, they are doing the discount (you have to email them to get the code): https://www.pccasegear.com/lp/amd-cd-bundle-q1-26

    • Yes they are doing the free game

If anyone needs a cheap GPU and is nerdy enough to not mind tinkering with Intel's immature GPU drivers, consider the Arc B570 for $312.55.

That's from applying the 5% off code to this: https://pccasegear.com/products/68156

Free shipping on top of all that.

It's the closest you'll get to a value oriented recent generation GPU nowadays.

Obviously you should do your own research thoroughly to see how well the games you play work with Intel Arc.

Tempting, but immature drivers tend to make me suicidal.

    • I don't play games, but I've been using the B570 for the last 2 months, and it's been fine. I use A310 for the prior 18 months, and it was mostly fine too (at desktop/video/etc).

It idles at ~8W and ~42°C with the fans off (in to 4k 60Hz), which is nice.

  • Thank you.

I've been HODL, and waiting for the AI bubble to burst and the prices to drop, except my GTX 1080 Ti FE turned 9 y.o. recently and wasn't sure if it could last until then (when?).

    • I would just buy now. Any modern card will run circles around your 1080Ti . And the image quality improvement from RT alone would make your games look bette

Ack, and thanks for the advice. Bought an RTX 5070 Ti.

I was thinking I could last until RTX 60 series, but they seem to have been pushed back to 2028 thanks to the AI boom.

  • Graphics cards are still this expensive??

They have never come back down in price.
