[eBay Plus] Activate for 0% Variable (Final Value) Fees for 3 Eligible Sales @ eBay

1700

What you all have been waiting for! (not sure if its targeted!) This looks general for most categories.

Eligible Sellers will pay 0% Variable Fees (a component of eBay Final Value Fees) on the first three (3) sales of Eligible Items that are newly listed and sold on the Site between the Registration Date and the end of the Promotion Period (“Promotion”).

EDIT:

For users here saying how it doesn't work if you sign up for Plus now, you should consider just renewing Plus (using one of renewal rebate links) if you intend to sell in the future. I'm not promoting giving unnecessary $ to eBay each year but just a few of these no final fee promotions a year will easily pay back the annual Plus membership.

Also, I should have made a call out that a item can sell after 31st March for this particular promotion as long as you dont relist it. This is different to other recent promotions where it had to be sold within the promotion period.

I pressed the RSVP button and the offer showed up immediately in my Seller Overview. We're back baby, the drought is over. Thanks OP.

Word to the wise: take screenshots that you've accepted the offer and in your Seller Overview in case it's revoked or doesn't work properly and you need to take it up with eBay Support. It's happened before.

      'Offer not available
Unfortunately, this promotional offer isn't available to you.'

      well f ebay

Perfect timing need to sell a few things quickly
    Ty

  • Does anyone know if this becomes available if I sign up for a month of Plus now?

    • +4

i just tried a test monthly one. didn't work. trying with chat to see if it can be applied or else ill try to get a refund

      • On one occasion in the past, I was only able to accept an eBay Plus offer ~24 hours after signing up. I don't know whether this is still the case, but it was my experience around a year or so ago, so might be worth waiting for a day and trying again.

        • thanks for the tip. ill try again 24 hours later.

I hope they will still refund me in time. Eitherway got a $5 voucher/month from joining so doesn't hurt to try.

          • @MaxHashrate: Yeah, a $5 vouch that has a T's & C's attached to it, making it virtually useless.

        • I just did this..signed up to Plus, but when i click RSVP in the OP's post, it says Im not eligible for the promo…i'll wait till tomorrow and see if I get the promo or not.

          • @mhs m0nk3y: 🤞🏻

          • @mhs m0nk3y: yeah, keeps us posted

          • @mhs m0nk3y: i talked to chat, and apparently the link will only work if you get it in your email.

I call BS, because i dont remember the last time ebay sent me a promo email.

            ill check again, later tonight

            • @mhs m0nk3y: That's what I have been told by chat this afternoon too. Seems like no hope to obtain this.

            • +1

@mhs m0nk3y: checked again tonight, still doesn't work. Cha has gone home, so i'll try them again tomorrow morning, get them to email me the promo instead.

              • @mhs m0nk3y: Any update

                • @itsok: OK seems like this is a TARGETED promo.
it won't let mea accept the promo through the OP's link - ive tried mutiple times over 48hours but no go.
I talked to their chat this morning and asked if they can email me the promo:

                  Them:
"The promotion which you are talking about it is a curated promotions and it will sent accordingly to the eligible sellers by the system automatically."
"We cannot issue it manually and not manual intervention is provided for the application of the offers."

i then asked them what makes a seller eligible for this promo
                  them:

"That is complete upto the system to decide upon your selling activities and selling history on eBay."
" There is no specific metrics that can be shared to get eligible."

      • What did the chat say?

        • +2

they can't manually apply the offer. gonna have to wait 24 hours

  • +2

I haven't renewed my ebay Plus sub because they stopped giving these out. And now this is not available to me. Now to decide if another year of Plus is worth it

Are there $10 membership renewals out there?

    • I am doing month to month to plus and got it

      • Did you sign up just now or before the promo started?

        • I just cancelled my plus monthly membership a week ago so already was a member but finishing up

  • +8

Remember to use "sell similar" or "create new listing". Listings relisted manually or automatically are excluded.

    • -2

that is not the case for the same toy promotion ebay is running

does not matter if you relist or auto, you all get 0% fvf

how do I know? I sold several existing listing or auto renew listing and wasted all my chances on cheap items

      • -1

They explicitly say this in terms & conditions. If they charge you full fvf, you can’t dispute that.

        • does not matter what they "explicitly say this in terms & conditions" I am just telling you that is how it works with the other promotion

        • Hey Ozmma, I just listed something via the "Resell" button from my purchases history. Do you know if this is excluded? I read the clause 6 of the T&Cs and it doesn't seem to be. Thanks!

          • +1

@tm8ate: No idea mate. I wouldn’t trust eBay and just create a new listing.

  • What if it was listed BEFORE the promotion period and sold DURING the promotion period? Would $0 final value fee be waived in that case?

    • That is not eligible. You have to use sell similar or create new listing.

      • -1

that is not the case for the same toy promotion ebay is running

does not matter if you relist or auto, you all get 0% fvf

  • Also I read that multi quantity listings are eligible and offer is for 3 listings(not 3 sales). Good deal OP. Thanks.

    • I bet its really three sales, not listings

      • Yeah too good to believe but the terms clearly say that.

        • So stingy and so many hoops.

Didn't bother renewing, too little too late.

        • Terms also say that “Eligible listing” means “an item” that is listed in multi quantity…. So single item in multi quantity being sold will use up one? I dont know.

        • I am with you ozmma but I have seen SC wriggle out of ambiguous meanings many times (hope you are right though)

          • +1

@King Tightarse: I was wrong :D I sold 2 items under a single mult quantity listing and eBay says I only have 1 more sale left in this offer. Usually they would exclude but this time they let you use multi quantity listing but each sale is using up the offer.

    • nah. will be 3 sales total

  • I wonder that happens if you sell something in the categories from this existing deal.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/947988

    • I believe you will use one chance in this deal first, until it runs out , then start counting towards category

but god knows..ebay promo is a mess

  • Legend op

I have a bunch of stuff to sell, but turned off Ebay Plus like 2 months ago :(

    • Same, ie. I let my eBay Plus renewal lapse (a couple of months ago) and I didn't renew it.

I, too, need to sell a few items, and I wonder if signing up now, will "grant me this offer".

  • Thank you, worked for me!

  • Thanks OP, worked for me

  • Thanks OP! Have an iPhone to sell.

  • ‘have an active eBay Plus membership. The eBay Plus Terms and Conditions will apply in respect of your membership; ‘

  • YOU BEAUTY!

time to sell the crap that no one wants on fbmp but will get me bank on ebay

  • Thanks OP however there's not a lot of people buying on eBay these days

    • There's actually people still buying on eBay, but the competition is 'less' for the item, unless it's a high-value item and your price is set 'correctly'.

      • Yeah what I mean is auction listing no longer work as good

  • Thanks OP for posting. Just noticed it today on my eBay, seemed to good to be true. Came to search on OzBargain to verify and post.

  • It's been a while

  • +2

I’ve started selling on eBay again to move away from FB Marketplace buyers.

It’s refreshing dealing with buyers who don’t disappear immediately after asking if it’s still available?

    • is it available?

  • +2

good timing. got some more items to sell. already sold 3x electronics items worth over 2K in total under the toy categories.

    • yeah that was the workaround but more convoluted that way.

      • Yeah, I had to ask potential buyers to buy from the other listings. So far did have any issues with them.

        • we think the same ;)

        • What if the buyer already buys from the correct listing and you get charged the fees?

          • @itsok: Thats not what we're implying.

lets not go into details on a forum about the steps but you should be able to figure this out on your own.

  • If i sign up now will i get this offer

  • Well, this is a dud deal for me. It's only open to me on trading cards, toy cars, games, model kits, etc. None of the items I sell.

I haven't received a fee free offer I can use in years. I expect eBay will monitor people trying to game the offer by listing a graphics card as an action figure or toy.

    • +2

you should check again as many of us see it as no restrictions on categories. It is targeted it seems.

      • Well, I stand corrected. eBay is offering me 3x fee free on any category. The offers are stacked in my Seller Hub with the collectables 3x fee free on top. When I accepted the current offer it didn't appear in Seller Hub for a few minutes.

So, yay. Happy days are here. I have some rather expensive items to sell so the timing is great.

  • Finally! Thanks OP

  • I seem to have 2 offers under my seller account: "Pay 0% fees* on up to 3 eligible collectables sales (3 remaining)" and "Save big on your next sale* (3 remaining)". The collectables one is restricted to certain categories which I'm not selling in. Is the eBay system smart enough to know which promotion to use, or am I asking too much of eBay?

    • yes it'll be fine here.

  • Thanks OP! Worked for me 😍

  • +2

    ONLY TOOK 3 years!!!!

OK seems like this is a TARGETED promo.
it won't let mea accept the promo through the OP's link - ive tried mutiple times over 48hours but no go.

    • yeah… did you read the title?

      • yeah, but other times this promo has been run, the link has worked for almost everyone that clicks on it

  • +1

I can confirm that it is targeted. Buying eBay Plus does not guarantee you are eligible. I renewed my membership 2 days ago, the link is still saying "Unfortunately, this promotional offer isn't available to you."

    • +1

what a load of crap on eBay's part.. ALL plus members should have access to this.

A disgusting act, from a disgusting company.

      • +1

They got no competition. FB marketplace and gumtree full of scams. Where else would you go???

EBay plus is so bad. It's only Black Fri and EOFY sale months worth getting on

        • Although, I agree, it's basically the only real place to sell (without the scum) & cop the hefty fears, my point is why such a promo is "targeted"? This is wrong on every level & a kick in the teeth to somone who has been a member for a while ans missed out

  • Unable to obtain the deal after sign up. $5 lost. Still have the voucher so will make the most out of it.

Worth the punt though. Listed on collectibles haha

  • If you list the item before promotion period ends but does not sell this month rather than next month do you still get slugged with fees or not

    • read the T&Cs - it tells you

      • +2

        Yeah this one

This Promotion does not apply to:
        listings scheduled to start after the Promotion Period ends;
        listings that are relisted during the Promotion Period, either manually, through the automatic relist function, or the GTC function;
        listings that are listed during the Promotion Period but do not sell and are relisted outside of the Promotion Period;
any item sold before the Promotion Period; and
listings in a Classified Ad format.

Too much legal writing here. It means you can get it as long as you list but not relist. If it gets sold the only requirement is listing during this period

        • Thats right. Maybe I should have called that out more clearly in my thread. This is different to say another promotion where they added a separate limb:

          — any item sold before or after the Promotion Period, or before the Registration Date;

In that instance, it would mean if its sold after March 31st, it would not apply.

I will try to update my post to make it 100% clear.

  • I have bother offers . Collectables and this one.
If i sell an item from collectables category. Will ebay use that one instead of this offer?

    • I had both too and sold a collectable.

      EBay used this one.

    • Can you fake your listing to be under collectables?

  • eBay is getting rid of transaction fees!!

From late April, we're making it free to sell for Australia-based sellers with up to $25,000 in sales in past 12 months. Free selling will not be available to sellers with a Pro subscription (referred to as Pro sellers).

If you are eligible for free selling, you can decide to cancel your subscription. Eligible sellers moving to a Pro Starter plan will have the option to opt out of the Pro Starter plan in late April and will receive an additional email at this time with instructions.

Please note, if you choose to opt out of your Pro subscription to take advantage of free selling, any active listings using advanced selling features will be adjusted and you’ll be able to review the details of these changes prior to opting out.

    • +1

You really should read the whole announcement. As I posted in another thread, there is no such thing as a free lunch in this world.

Summary is, its not a good thing for sellers as they push a fee onto the buyers which means the seller has to price more competitively. It all comes out of sellers pockets one way or another.

If you choose to "Pro" version, you're back to the current status quo but with more T&Cs on top.

      • Surely the fee will not be equivalent to the FVF?

        Edit: indeed, it isn't:

The Buyer Protection fee will be calculated as:

A flat fee of AU $0.30 per item
8% of the item price up to AU $20
6% of any portion of the item price from AU $20 to AU $500
4% of any portion of the item price from AU $500 to AU $5,000

        • +1

its more the perception that buyers now have to "fork out" extra for the item. Most buyers won't be thinking about precise net impacts. They will just think it costs them an exta 5-7% to buy this item and will negotiate harder with the seller to drop the price.

Its a slippery slope as sellers don't always have a guide to what a item is worth. It just creates alot of confusion. Something that cost $100, netting the seller $87 in old terms becomes $90 to be competitive, dwindling down to $87, maybe $85 to clear a sale.

I suspect the seller promotions will further reduce.

Have a look at what happened in the UK where this rolled out. Sales dropped significantly for the non pro sellers and ended up shifting to more pro-related seller accounts, i.e., back to what it was plus paying for monthly fees on top for others.

          • @Bargainitis: Fair enough. Didn't know the UK had it already. I wonder if the fee gets shown only at checkout or on the item page & search results? At least then it would be comparable to the item + postage vs free postage scenario

            • @itsfree: I read somewhere that the fee is shown at the listing (much like when we buy from some overseas country and the amount has the GST / VAT included already).

But you are right in the sense its all how its optically presented. If its presented as its already embedded in the price then it should be a win for the amateur seller but just reading up Ebay UK has suggested otherwise.

              time will tell

  • Do items need to be sold in March or just to be listed in March (and got sold later) ?

    • +1

      must be sold in March

    • I’ve written in the original post….

      Come on…
