LG OLED G5 Series TV: 65" $3,188, 77" $4,988, 55" $2,677 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

170

New models should be out soon (April/May?) so prices are getting lower. I was hoping to snag the 65 inch G5 for ~$3k but decided to bite at this price. Price could possibly drop further in the next month as the G4 did so in April last year. Can save a little extra with discounted gift cards (I got 2.5% back via shopback gift cards).

    HODL

Wait for official LG model clearance. I got a good deal last year on C4 series 77"

    • Too late, I already ordered 😅. I am assuming it won't go much lower than ~$3k for the 65 inch. But I could be wrong. And new model will launch at a ridiculous price, so I decided to bite the bullet now.

      • Paid $2,592 for same model during Boxing day sales.

Really? Definitely G5 65 inch? How did you manage that? Did you have to negotiate the price? Or buy with a soundbar package or something?

I saw an Ozbargain post where it was available for $2676.73 from LG website, but needed some special coupon that was targeted.

          • +1

@Shaun Prawn: The package deal was available at the time, but I did not end up getting the soundbar. I shopped around a few stores including JB Hi Fi, Harvey Norman, and Good Guys to find the best price. After comparing a few options, I negotiated a bit with the salesperson at GG. I think because it was around 4 pm on 31 December, he was probably just keen to close the sale and wrap up the year.

@hoosier-daddy: Damn! That's an awesome price. Well done. Guess there is still a lot of margin in these, even at "clearance" prices.

    • +1

How much did you get the C4?

  • Got the 77" for around 4800 last year.

  • Paid $4999 for the 77” + a S95TR soundbar in December

    • +1

      G5 or C5?

      • 77" C5 was as low as $3400 or perhaps lower

    • C5 + S95TR right?

      • G5 77” + S95TR from JB Hi Fi

        • nice, so it seems like you got the G5 77” at around $3800-$4000

    • Nice! What do you think of the s95tr? Thinking of pairing it with the G5 too

  • Samsung has a lot of TVs include the s90f series OLED for half price on the government store..
    For example 77 s90f is $2999

    • I was looking into these also. Just fyi on the Samsung models in Australia, a lot of them are WOLED which is inferior to OLED (including the 77 s90f). It’s not comparable to the C5 in quality

      • Yeah I think only s95f has qd oled.
But OLED tech is still great no matter which panel imo.
I still have the c9 which is woled and it's great. May not be technically as good as tandem OLED or qd oled. But I think a person buying it would be happy with the quality.

        • True, never going to notice the difference unless you are looking at them both side by side which will never happen

      • +3

It's actually up to the consumer which tech is better. They both have pros and cons. Having had both panel types (3 WOLED and 1 QD-OLED), I'll only buy WOLED moving forward.

All QD-OLEDs have purple blacks if the room has any ambient light due to a lack of a polarising filter and it completely negates the number 1 drawcard of OLEDs which is perfect black levels. QD-OLEDs also scratch super easily when cleaning.

Average Joe that just wants a nice TV isn't going to notice the extra colour volume QD-OLED provides unless the panels are side by side. I've never been left wanting more from any of my WOLED screens.

        • +1

also a lot of people report headaches and eye strain from QD-OLED monitors but not for WOLED

Missed the G5 deal 83" $5490 couple of months ago. Hopefully LG clearance for the TV range will be comparatively around these levels in the coming weeks when the 2026 models start coming in.

    • There aren't many of the 83" left in stock though.

  • +3

Yooo, I am happy! I got me a 77" for $4998. I literally went into JB Hifi today to ask for clearance prices because I've been waiting for the them to get rid of the old stock. Guy offered me $5999 and told him I'd be back tomorrow. Checked this price and bought asap. Happy customer

Ps. Feel bad for the dude missing commission though, the still had $7999 sticker on it

    • +1

I still can't get past the trauma of my order for the 83" G5 at $5240 inc delivery being cancelled by TGG, due to LG not being able to fulfil it.

Still rocking the S90C here and loving it. Haven’t seen a set released since that measures up, tbh.

  • +1

Still rocking the G2 77 inch.

Though this is tempting 😂 maybe will wait for the release and see if there is major changes.

    • +2

Can't believe you're still using that ancient thing from all the way back in 2022

      • +1

Rocking a CX 65" and it's as good as the day I bought it, nothing wrong with ancient if it's performing

        • +1

          I've got a G1 77. It was sarcasm.

Tempted to pull the trigger on this. How long is the sale for and will it be cheaper again next month? Just don't quite have the money yet…

    • JB doesn't have an end date listed, but Harvey Norman also has it on sale for $3187 and it says the end date is 25th of March.

      https://www.harveynorman.com.au/lg-65-inch-g5-4k-oled-evo-ai…

Honestly, I think it probably will go cheaper in April some time. But I don't think it will be a lot cheaper. And I didn't want to risk missing a relatively decent price and have to wait for the new model to price drop to a reasonable price.

      • Yeh Im thinking the same. I want the lg g5 65 and around 3k is pretty low.

        • Might be worth going in store and trying to haggle a bit. Guy further up on this post got the 65 inch G5 for $2,592.00 from the good guys during boxing day sales. Even uploaded his tax invoice to prove it.

Link to the receipt he shared:

  • the G6 range is available for preorder on jb hifi business

    • I don't have access to that. Can you list the prices please? I'm really curious what the launch price is. Really only interested in the 65 inch but.

Yeah or the website chat. Got a g5 65 inch for about 2860 but no delivery. I would've paid delivery but wasn't an option for the store that had stock :(
