spend the extra $100 and get an XT

    • given ~10% performance difference this is still a tiny bit better price to performance. buuut i probs agree lol

unless you are limited by case dimensions or PSU capacity, the extra 11% cost is worth the 10-15% improvement in performance

but yeah… I was never a fan of 9070 non-XT pricing after XT prices stabilised closer to proper retail pricing

The XT has 10-15% more performance but draws almost 40% more peak power. The 9070 is a gem.

where are people getting around 10-15% performance from? it's more like 5-6ish?

          • @Jaspa7: TechPowerUp's GPU database has it at +12% on average so saying "10-15%" covers the likely range.

Either way the choice is good. If you want that extra performance, there's a trade-off but at least the price difference is now proportionate.

You can undervolt the XT and lose only 2 to 3% performance and still game at 230W. The peak power consumption probably comes from factory-set high clock speeds compared to the 9070 (up to 2.97 GHz for the XT vs. 2.54 GHz for the non-XT). Of course you can undervolt the 9070 too, but its already running at much lower frequency, so I assume its not gonna make as much difference as the XT.

@John Doh: My 9070 regularly boosts over 3Ghz

            • @gentlekoala5906: I dont own a 9070 series so IDK, a random dude here says at 3Ghz boost his card consumes 300+W. Since its just the core count that is difference in both the models, undervolting should favor both cards and the efficiency or the frames/watts should be similar when undervolted.

              • @John Doh: Interesting! Mine sits between 2.9-3.1Ghz running at 220W. I have a -40mV undervolt that's it.

                • @gentlekoala5906: That dude probably did not undervolt. But interesting to know yours runs at that freq and consumes 220W. Thats a data point I was missing. And an undervolted XT runs at similar frequncy and consumes 240W as per the comments and gives approx 10% more FPS. So efficiency of both cards are similar then.

One of the best performance per watt cards on the market

$20.00 off with code paypalfrenzy26 with payment via paypal

    • does this work with the 9070xt cards

9070 needs to be 680-700 range to be more interesting

So is AMD going to release a 24gb vram 9000s card?
