@ziggy bird Unable to use the code. Pls share the instructsions tk redeem the code on a android device.

    • +2

Go to https://getfasted.app/code, sign in with the same method as you will in the app, and enter the code "OZBG". Done!

      • +3

        Does not work

        • Have you signed in to the app with the same email/method you redeemed code with? I can see 100 codes already redeemed so it definatelly works.

          • +9

@ziggy bird: I missed understood the instruction. I looked for the deal on the Fasted app.

For those who are confused like me. After installing the app, click on the deal on this ozbargain page and enter the code OZBG. The code is not entered on the app itself.

          • +5

            @ziggy bird: "definatelly "

            Definitely*

I think "definatelly" is the ninja turtle.

      • Thanks. This works.

    • wow the website is blocked and deemed unsafe at work lol.

      • +10

        Do you work at McDonalds?

    • -6

Why would I need an app for this? I am on keto I know when to fast and not fast. lol

      • +10

You need an app to remind you to tell everyone you're keto, at least every hour.

  • +4

The same problem. Please provide instructions on how to get the pro version.

  • +9

Is this a Ramadan promo haha.

    • +6

Just the timing. :D Intermittent fasting is pretty popular all around as a daily habit. Especially 16:8.

    • -1

Complains in a crazy old woman's trembling voice

  • +1

Worked for me. Used Google to sign into app, opened the link and then signed using same account and used the code

  • Too easy, thanks

  • +23

I intermittent fast every night when I go to bed.

    • +13

Let me guess. You break the fast with breakfast?

      • +7

Probably wakes up in the middle of the night for a light snack

    • +2

Who would have thought.. break-fast. Brilliant!

  • +1

    Cheers OP. Worked for me.

    • +28

How much weight did you lose?

      • +1

I mean the promo code worked mate.

      • +1

Looping back a month and a half later, I'm down 14½ kg.

        • Congrats, keep up the good work.

    • +1

      Not true?

I mean, some might have, but as a whole?

    • +3

Greedy medical 'exxperts' want nobody to know the extraordinary benefits of autophagy.

      • They don't make money from healthy people

    • -5

The 2026 Cochrane review - considered the gold standard of evidence based medicine - indeed finds that it doesn’t work:

      https://www.cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD…

      • +8

That's not quite what it finds. It found fasting performed similarly to calorie restricted dieting, not that it doesn't work. Big difference.

Also worth noting they lumped all IF protocols together, which makes it hard to draw meaningful conclusions. And for most people fasting is just a calorie restriction tool anyway, so similar results to calorie restriction is pretty much the expected outcome.

        • +2

Most people doing IF would just be restricting calories anyway. I doubt many would try and eat the same amount but over two meals not 3.

If anything, it just stops you snacking and eating when you aren't hungry and starting some form of discipline.

Tip from the top - eat when hungry, stop when full, don't eat so much processed crap. Fibre is the key .. Move your body.

      • +3

Brother read the article you linked. Its insanely bad.
One of the main studies referenced they got a bunch of medically fat outpatients and asked them to restrict their intake window for 2 days a week, then got shocked when the outcomes were not much better than a "normal" diet.

To explain it in language you likely will relate to: That is like administering 30% of the gov mandated vaccines to a trial group and then saying all vaccines are worthless because the trial group did not have protection to 100% of the diseases addressed in the gov vaccine mandate.

Intermittent fasting 2x a week isn't a diet. Its literally missing breakfast 2 days in a week.
This is food pyramid levels of bad faith reporting.

    • +3

Purely for weight loss, it's reasonablly neutral and arguably even negative (if you were a discipled eater already, under stress, etc).
The IF helps most people by reduce total 24hr calorie intake and by cutting down on snacking. But the extra stress hormones can impact negatively.

But outside of weight loss, there are a host of benefits that actually make this a decent tool (autophagy, insulin regulation, cv function, etc).

      • +1

But outside of weight loss, there are a host of benefits that actually make this a decent tool (autophagy, insulin regulation, cv function, etc).

That's the key, right there. Also, a lot of the studies looked at were all about "eat the same old processed crap" and so, surprise, not much changes.

      • +6

        extra stress hormones

Just anecdotally, I've had heaps of success with OMAD (23 hours fasting), loosing 2-3kg weekly with ease.

Strangely the biggest benefit has been the opposite of stress. I sleep better, think better, get pissed off less easily etc etc.
If anything de-stressing seems to be the most noticeable benefit, moreso than the weightloss.

        • +3

agree. same with me, but i put that down to the better overall discipline (food & exercise) while fasting & the non-weight related IF benefits.
a lot of people that IF do a black coffee in the morning. I believe the coffee and the IF both incr cortisol, so if you're in a bad place, it could have a negative impact on stress

          • @CrazyPotato: fwiw, I eat from 9-10am and I really don't eat particularly clean. I have eggs as my baseline but give myself the freedom to drink a proper cap, cream biscuits, pretty much whatever I'm craving once I've satisfied the nutritious baseload.

I was pretty in the dumps prior to this, it's utterly reversed my moody work days and thats even with copious amounts of coffee and snacks.

If I had to bet, I think a lot of people do 8/16 fasting and allow themselves similar freedom like me, and end up still eating enough calories and insulin spiking foods as a "normal" trash diet. On 23/1 I'm pretty convinced I couldn't over eat if I tried.

      • Great to see autophagy mentioned, I'm actually underweight but trying IF for that specific benefit. Back when I started last year evidence on autophagy was inconclusive, is it more clear now?

  • Got it
    thanks op

  • -8

Don't understand the need for this.
Just stop eating if that's your goal & go about your day.

    • +2

Easier said than done to many.
Building a habit around it helps tremendously.

    • +2

Yet you positive voted the deal?

      • -2

Oh!, must have tapped it scrolling.

  • +2

Using tour own will power to reduce food intake an sustaining that weightloss over time with a strong mental strength that you've built up - no no no

Buying expensive injections that reduces your appetite so your reduce food intake then, being reliant solely on those injections to keep the weight off - yes yes yes

    • +1

Hey, leave my heroin addiction out of this!

      • Great way to lose weight I've heard

  • -1

    perfect timing, thanks!!

  • +2

So, I'll need to sign in to someones personal website with my playstore credentials to activate?

Maybe I'm the only one who can see an issue with that.

If I put the code in the App, ticketyboo, no drama…

Sorry OP, not saying you aren't trustworthy, maybe I'm completely wrong about the method.

    • +1

or use a disposable email and sign up in the app with that as well?

    • +4

iOS is really limiting the in-app code activations. 100 max per code i think. This way, if you activate on the website, there is no limit and a lot more people can enjoy the deal.

    • it allows you to log into app and website using any email

  • +1

    Possible bug found.

I clicked start fast, edited the start time to 19:00 last night, the main counter correctly says 1h 56m remaining, but the TARGET box says 11:00 tomorrow instead of today.

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/146543/127646/img_2038…

    • @ziggy bird
It looks like the target box says tomorrow all the time, regardless of if the target hours remaining are today or tomorrow, even without editing the start time.

  • Hey ziggy, thanks for the 3 apps.

I've used Zero and LIFE extensively in the past, and this looks much more feature rich!
First issue: if I accidentally tap that I've had 250ml of water, I can't reverse it.

Can I safely use this over multiple Apple and android devices, and it won't become desynced? Good syncing?

  • +1

While I am doing 16:8 fasting as normal practice
    Recently read this news article….

Benefits of intermittent fasting 'fail to match the hype', major review finds

    • +2

It found fasting works as well as calorie restricted dieting, not that it doesn't work. For most people 16:8 is just a practical way to eat less anyway, so that's pretty much the expected result.

    • +1

but it may not reduce metabolic health risks

Well, if you're still eating the same crap that got you there, eating it in a different time window isn't likely to show a lot of change, is it? But the people they talk to are in the current system, so not surprises there.

    • +4

It's taking a long time but I'm slowly working through the referenced articles in the ABC reference.

I gotta say, its mostly garbage. Majority are just rehashes of the same lit reviews and doing dumb stuff like comparing 6 months of dieting on a handful of medically fat people with "ordinary" dieting, then exclaiming that the intermittent fasting is only moderately better.

People also don't address the fact that 8/16 fasting is vastly different than the more aggressive fasting. The average person fasts for 12 hours over night anyway, so going to 16 hours barely makes a difference and still leaves room for bad eating choices to cumulate.
Also, the whole point of fasting is to reach the point where your body freaks out and starts burning fat as a primary source, that's not until ~16hrs fasted, so for a 16/8 fast you're getting 2hrs max of the critical zone that fasting is all about.

I know anecdotes don't carry heaps of weight, but I'm steadily reaching the point of using ABC of a litmus test of what is good for you. If they are trying to say it sucks, it's probably great.

Similar example to this is how most articles (including ABC) calling carnivore a dangerous diet references the same studies where they blatantly cooked the books. Eg counting any meal with red meat in it as carnivore. I'm not even exaggerating, they classed lasagna and hotdogs as carnivore, and they exclaimed that it increases cardiac risk…
I'm not even exaggerating, this is the main study against carnivore and its mind meltingly bias/stupid . Rant over sorry.

      • +1

That one is so stupid I was expecting to see Kevin Hall listed as an author :-)

      • +3

What a dreadfully misleading survey. Hamburgers are included as well. So if you have a diet of hamburgers and lasagne you are treated as a red meat eater. Also, as with all these studies they never separate the processed meat consumption from the unprocessed. I could well accept that processed meats are not good for us. But I can't believe that nature created us as carnivores yet fresh meat should be avoided.

I believe those creating the survey said "We need to prove red meat is bad. How can we include all this other unhealthy crap so the statistics show that?" The creative answer: "Nobody looks at the detail and 99% just remember the Red Meat is Bad message."

        • without looking at the study a lot of them set a pretty low bar.

It's fairly well known that processed and red meat is a probable type 2A carcinogen. People won't listen or care though.

  • Nice - any plans for Apple Watch complications in the future?

  • -1

    Calorie deficit still required?

    • lol neg for what
      try 18:6 or 23:1

esp if ur not counting calories

  • Cheers legend! Will use it for a while and leave a review for sure.

  • @ziggy bird - Thanks for the code. Could not find an option for a 36h fasting, is that correct?

  • Thanks OP… I like Zero but find the nags annoying as hell, so will give this a good run. Will do my bit and leave a review when I'm done giving it a good test.

  • Thanks OP giving this a try

  • Why am I unable to easily change the fasting protocol on the app?

  • I might be being dim - if I forget to click 'start fast' in the evening, is there no way to 'back date' the start if the following day has started?

    • You can click the Started box to edit start time, as I mentioned above the countdown timer works correctly but the Target time shows tomorrow instead of today.

  • Worked for me.. However, it's missing a lot of useful information as in the form of widgets (iOS) that other apps I use have. Will continue to monitor.

  • Got it thanks,
    - click on the go to deal button in our browser,
    - sign into Apple,
    -apply the OZBG code.
    - Then download the app,
    - login with Apple and it's done!

  • Mossad plant lol life time app ay

  • -2

    AdBargain strikes again.

  • -1

Installed. Immediately tried to put me on a pay monthly plan. Uninstalled. I have been following the 5.2 plan successfully but was curious about this app

    • Did you enter the code on the website after creating an account? Because it worked for me.

    • +1

      Didn't read instructions. Complained.

      • It asked for a code. I put in the code and thought that was it. Cheers

    • once the app is opened and initial setup is done etc, you must go to settings and click login up the top

  • @ziggy bird is there a way to add a fast for a previous date? If I edit a fast, it automatically assumes that it occured today, which doesn't really help any fasts that were forgotten, meaning this is kinda useless for IF, since it has less functionality than an alarm app. Here's how Zero handles it.

    • Under “History”, there’s a + button in top right to add older fasts.

  • -1

Be cautious with intermittent fasting. Very easy to lose weight but biliary stasis will increase the risk of gallstones. Once you lose the gallbladder if you continue the fasting you then have the risk of blockages in the liver.

    • Dr Mosley doesn't mention this in his vey old book now. Is this something based on some later research?

      Serious question. Cheers

      • -1

Lol some potato negged me for that. likely the most pissweak neg i have ever got.

nevertheless here is some copilot sources

        📚 Key peer‑reviewed journal sources

Here are well‑established scientific studies showing the connection between fasting, rapid weight loss, and gallstone formation:

Wadden et al., American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (1992) — Found that rapid weight loss and prolonged periods without eating significantly increase the risk of cholesterol gallstones due to reduced gallbladder motility and more concentrated bile.

Shiffman et al., Gastroenterology (1991) — Demonstrated that very‑low‑calorie diets and fasting reduce gallbladder emptying, leading to bile stasis and higher gallstone formation rates.

Everhart & Ruhl, Gastroenterology (1997) — Reviewed epidemiological data showing that fasting and rapid weight loss are established risk factors for cholesterol gallstones.

Liddle et al., New England Journal of Medicine (1989) — Showed that reduced dietary fat intake (common during fasting) decreases cholecystokinin release, which reduces gallbladder contractions and promotes stone formation.

These studies consistently show that long fasting windows, low‑fat intake, and rapid weight loss all contribute to bile stasis and increased gallstone risk.

🧠 Why fasting increases risk (based on journal findings)

Gallbladder stasis — Without regular meals, the gallbladder doesn’t contract, allowing bile to sit and thicken.

More concentrated bile — Water is reabsorbed during long fasts, increasing cholesterol saturation.

Rapid weight loss — Mobilizes cholesterol into bile faster than the gallbladder can clear it.

Reduced cholecystokinin (CCK) — Less dietary fat means weaker gallbladder contractions.

These mechanisms are repeatedly confirmed across clinical and physiological studies.

    • Most people will yoyo and put it back on super fast as well.

  • doesn't then recognise your email when you try to log in on the app

  • -4

Hate to break it to you but recent research shows IF, such as the 5:2 diet, is no more effective than traditional dieting. Studies suggest that in the long term, weight loss from IF often matches that of standard, daily, energy-restricted diets

    • I know . but my friend and I each have lost 1 kilo a week for 6 weeks and it has been easier because on normal days have a beer but now am planning on trying straight calorie counting

      • Either that or grow 20cm so im right weight for my height

  • +1

Seems like mine has been cancelled now asking for payment.

  • Getting hungry for this promo

  • Thanks OP

  • Looks pretty good OP. Signed up! Easy!

Will use the app and then leave a review! Thanks for the free lifetime pro sub!

  • You are the product. Just look at all this guys other harvesting attempts.
